San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick getting too much love from the media

49 posts in this topic

I have been on NFL dot com everyday this week and man is this guy getting all the love. He has been the first photo 3 out of the last 5 days. This guy HAS NOT proved anything! Alex Smith would have taken the Niners to the SB just as well this past season. I dont get all of the love he is receiving.

I get he went to the Super Bowl at the helm of a team but he came in the middle of a season. No teams had enough time to prepare for the different attack that SF was bringing and the big scary Pistol, just like the wild cat was very effective because it was very unexpected. This year, teams will have it figured out within the first 8 games and then what? Seattle already exposed them and their offense, but I dont see Russel Wilson who had a much better season and a whole season at the helm of his team. He put up much better numbers than Kaep. Hell he put up formidible numbers against most QBs in the league, so whats the love fest for Kaepernick? I wouldnt have a problem seeing a real proven QBs face plastered on NFL.

He is marketable and "cool" thats why. And he certainly has no problem eating up the attention with things like his stupid arm kiss gimmick with Michelle Obama I saw a few weeks ago. Very good player, but I don't care for his entitled attitude since the end of last season (along with several other Niners, you'd think THEY won the Super Bowl), glad we've got stoic Joe who comes to work every day "lunch pail in hand" as they say.

Yeah what kind of person does something after the TD and decides to name it and market it. Self centered comes to mind. You need to gain real notariaty before you do something like that

Kaep had an autograph signing out here in SF

He arrived thirty min late
Only would sign pictures of himself(no footballs, or anything like that)
Left 30 min early leaving thousands of his fans hanging

Probably not his fault.

Probably for legal reasons.

Probably had other celebrity plans.

He does come across as self-centered sometimes but he can't control everything. One important thing about year 2 for him is how he handles being a celebrity.

He comes off as very narcissistic. Everything from his bicep kissing to his attitude tout what Irrelevant said makes me think he's extremely self-centered.

I think the people around him (agents, media analysts, whoever) play a big part in that though. It was probably some agent's idea to trademark his celebration, it's his agents that orchestrate his schedule that includes signings. And if the analysts weren't gushing over him, he'd still look like a guy who's just trying to overcome the odds rather than a guy who's having success and gloating about it in whatever way. I don't know, maybe I just give people the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, what you say makes sense but his one interview I saw had him coming off as arrogant so I look at it holistically in that regard. It was during the Super Bowl

Wrong!
Mobile QBs from VA tech are the future

Yeah because they can complete dumb off passes to the running back and they definitely don't run after their first read........

I just don't like Colin Kaepernick; I was used to like 49ers team since Harbaugh takes over, but after how much Jim and the rest of the team whined about being the SB losers, I crossed them off my favorite list.

40whiners don't just get that name for no reasons....

I can't wait Seattle are going to crush them.....

Mega over-hyped.

He came in to the perfect situation, with teams having no time to adjust to the new offense, having a stellar offensive line, top running game and receivers that could make plays. Not to mention the best defense in the NFL bailing him out any time he needed.

Yeah, he's big, strong armed and fast, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone step in to a more favorable position to succeed. I know he still had to take advantage of everything, but he'd have had to be Gabbert-level terrible to not do so. Definitely not worth a fraction of the hype he's currently receiving.

Are you kidding me? Anyone who isn't an idiot. Revis trademarked Revis Island. Tebow trademarked tebowing. I mean seriously, if there is a chance to make money by trademarking something you do it. That's not self-centered, that's just good business sense.

I would understand if Flacco doesn't jump on the trademark for Flaccoing. But then again....

I dunno I am kinda getting sick of RG III 's hype as well.

Yeah but RGIII doesn't seem like he really actively promotes it. The media dubbed him great (and at least he started a full season). Kaepernick seems like he goes for the attention way more than Griffin, who I actually like a lot.

Alex Smith probably would have take the 9ers to the same place... A place where the Lombardi belongs to Baltimore.

As for RGKNEE... I don't like the guy one bit. Hes an egomaniac too. Don't be fooled by the media. I hope he gets blown up again this year . I never liked the guy.. Sitting down after a TD.. The stupid headband ... The dumb socks, and sleeve.. It just screams LOOK AT ME..
