Sequel?

Pretty much guaranteed.

I finished the game earlier today. The game was fantastic from beginning to end and it's easily one of my top five games of this generation.  It was great from gameplay, story, and presentation standpoints. The game hits on so many emotions that not many games seem to hit. I choked up a number of times while playing this. If you're able to pick this game up and you don't, you're doing yourself a REAL disservice because this is arguably the best game to come out of this generation.

I'll be honest I will probably wait on this game and pick it up after I get the PS4. I can assure you though I will get this game, especially since a sequel is guaranteed for the PS4.

Right now it looks like any sequel wouldn't involve Joel and Ellie. The developers said in an interview that their story is over and they accomplished what they wanted to do. I fully expect a sequel but it will involve brand new characters in a new part of the country.

We'll just have to wait and see. From what I've read on other message boards they said the same thing about Uncharted. If the demand is there they could do it I suppose.

I can see both sides. Part of me wants to learn what happens to them and part of me is happy with the way they left it. Leading up to the end I was preparing myself for a sad ending so I'm content with the way it ended. Part of me does want to see Ellie's reaction when she learns the truth though.

Yeah pretty much everywhere Ive seen, the fans want a continuation of the story. I don't know supposedly Sony has the domain names for last of us 2 and 3. Perhaps they branch off for the second one and bring them back all in the third one. Sony is going to do whatever makes them the most money long term. These are characters people grow attached to, they cant just throw them away.

I don't want to see a sequel, not every single thing ever made in the history of mankind needs a sequel or reboot.  They told a complete story that tied up all the loose ends, there is no need to go on.  This is a developer that has proven they can handle diverse IPs and doesn't need to be chained to a franchise to succeed, they should be allowed to move onto their next thing.  As much as I'd love to see them make Uncharted 4, I'm glad Naughty Dog isn't afraid to take chances on creating new worlds.

Major spoiler warning:
The scene where Sam and Henry die is one of the most powerful scenes I've seen in a video game.
How was anything I said a spoiler unless you were really hoping for a sad ending? I was careful with my wording not to include any spoiler.

Well, this sort of implies that these characters could remain alive. I know absolutely nothing about this story. I'm just asking for you to use the tag. I'm not mad or anything. Just asking for you to use the tag when referencing stuff.

There are many ways they can continue the story. I seriously, seriously, doubt that there won't be a sequel especially when this game is looking pretty successful. I agree that it is not necessary (the game will be remain great regardless) but they can continue the story in a number of directions. Not to mention we're talking about a developer that has a habit of making sequels to their games with rumors of more sequels coming to their other franchises (Jak 4 and Uncharted 4).

A sequel or a prequel to this game could work extremely well.

yeah I mean honestly Sony wants as many first party exclusives as possible to put themselves over Microsoft. To me the fact that they released this at the end of the PS3s lifecycle and around E3 seems pretty telling that this is just the beginning.

What part of the country was this game in?

It starts in Boston but then the whole plot is them traveling across the country.

Went and rented this from Redbox today.  I'm very bad at shooters, but you won't regret picking this game up!  I figured it would be best to rent it for a few days and drop $10-$15 instead of paying full price, since I'm not interested in the online aspect of the game.

After completing the game myself, I'm inclined to agree that while the game is left open for a sequel, I don't think it needs one, at least one that continues to follow Joel and Ellie. Put it this way, I knew once I beat the first Uncharted game years ago, I knew immediately there would be a sequel. Didn't get the same feeling as I watched the end cinematic of The Last of Us. Another way to put it is in comparing them to similar works of fiction. Indiana Jones was made for sequels whereas I couldn't see one happening nor being neccessary for The Road. Time will tell, though Naughty Dog is notorious for only working on one game at a time so I m sure any sequel would come after theyve finished Uncharted 4.

lol maybe he will be in the upcoming DLC

I swear if I see Odin Lloyd as a zombie I'm loling.

And before anyone gets upset I understand this is a tragic situation. I'm just making a joke here. There's nothing funny about the murder of anyone.

Well, after putting in a lot of time on this game, I can say it's incredible.  Storyline, graphics, gameplay, and everything in general are all fantastic.  I'm only 76% done, so I'm really eager to see how this ends.  Ellie is awesome lol.

I thought the ending was perfect and really brought the game full circle to the events from the beginning of the game. The DLC is supposed to be announce today and it looks like it will take place back during the initial outbreak. Naughty Dog needs to hurry up and just take my money already. haha
