Jamarcus Russell at 265lbs

Apparently teams are also showing interest (at least 2) according to rotoworld. Who else here is praying one of them is the Jets?

265 isn't too bad for him, being 6'6". I bet Ben is close to that. I mean, Flacco is what? 255?

I defended him on the last thread. You guys are all horrible joking a man that is trying to make a change in his life. Whats so different about him and Rolando McClain who has actually commited crimes, taking time away and getting things in order and then trying to make a return to football? No difference whatsoever. As a person that wants people to have the best of their worlds, I guess I am proud to see someone set and achieve a goal. The bad mouthers on this thread are probably the ones saying "get your life together Ro and then come back" Jamarcus Russell has made a real effort to get everything together and maybe you all should apply this to your real lives instead of making fun of a man trying to be resilient. Im sure if any of you were in his shoes, you would want that opportunity to prove yourself again.

Just my .02

I thought Flacco was in the 240s? Perhaps the high 240s.

Was mid 240's last year, but put on a supposed 7 pounds this off-season and is now 252/253.

I signed in just to say that I totally, 110% agree with every single bit of this. +35. Seems like you're the only one in this entire thread with their head on straight, so kudos to you for that.

I think it is the Cardinals and Broncos. In those 2 cases, he would sit behind a veteran for at least 2 to 3 years and be ready to take over afterwards. The talent was there, the drive wasnt. Now the drive is there. I think he would do well sitting behind Manning. Broncos and Cards dont have legit backups.

Jamarcus wasn't very good when he was"good". Im for a guy making a comeback, but he never really accomplished anything in the NFL as a QB.

He was also an Oakland Raider. They havent had a good habitable environment for anyone to grow and blossom in for quite a while. Hue Jackson could have brought them to the promised land though. He can be groomed I believe.

I guess we'll find out... but generally, extraordinary talent finds a way to present it's self. I don't think Russell ever had the whole package. A big arm, weak mind, poor work ethic. Maybe he can make use of the first.

Who's the last 1st round talent the raiders got the best out of. Even McFadden a beast of a RB who the team could have been built around sans his health was wiped out because they implemented a system that took away from what his strengths were. Lets say Russell sits behind Manning and applies himself, learns, and tries to mirror manning. He might find success. I know Peyton's backups have never performed to his level but they didn't have the talent Russell has

Let's see how this plays out.

He is known to have a howitzer for an arm.

Dropping another 20 lbs should help his mobility.

I think you're over-valuing JR's talent. You can't blame McFaddens injuries on the Raiders.. He's fragile. You keep throwing out sitting behind Manning... this probably isn't even likely .

Im not over valuing it. He never really got a chance to be a student of the game and came into a Raiders team that wasnt up to snuff. Im simply using the Manning thing as an example that if he had time to study under a prominent QB, he may have a shot to be a legitimate signal caller.

I don't think he has the aptitude to be a student of the game, or a great QB. I guess we won't know until he gets a shot... if he gets a shot.

Or if he got his shot and blew it so thoroughly that he won't get another

I had to make this one...

His shot was a shot of purple drank... Not in the NFL.

Ravens would be smart to sign this guy. Bmore has a huge hole at QB. Russell can easily take the starting job over the other guy they have (Caleb hanie?)

His weight isn't the problem.  It's his work ethic.  I think he expected to show up and have it be as easy as it was in college.  That will never happen in the NFL.  Holding out through half way of his rookie year sure as hell didn't help either.

#2 QB is Tyrod Taylor.  The Ravens haven't carried a 3rd QB in quite a few years.  Haine if more than likely just another arm for training camp, just as Curtis Painter was last year.
