Pregnancy Question

19 posts in this topic

I know this might eliminate some of the male population here, unless your wife is like me and tells you about everything. ;)

But did any of the women on this board who have had at least three pregnancies carry your third child differently than your first two? I feel like I am more tired with this one, and I have had more swelling and back pain. And I still have a month and a half left!

We accepted the invitation to go down to Nags Head with my brother-in-law and his family for the weekend, and we drove down here from Baltimore. It took us in all about seven hours today to get here. We're leaving early Tuesday morning to go home. I personally didn't want to come here this weekend, but I'm making the best of it. Anyways, just the length of the trip and the stage of my pregnancy might have had something to do with it too, but I have just been having a very trying last trimester, and I don't remember it being this bad with my first two.

When my wife was having our child (her third), I remember the doctor saying something about how each child is bigger than the last.  Maybe that helps, maybe it doesn't.  I didn't know my wife during her first two pregnancies, so... that's all I've got...

Oh, you men... ;) I don't believe I am crankier, just more tired. My husband might disagree with that, but he knows better than to let me know. :D

The worst is the midnight cravings... I remember having to go out for Taco Bell at 1 AM for a mountain of food, and after she had half of her nachos, she didn't want the other $20+ worth of food in the bag. *smh*

And pickles... I've never seen a woman eat so many pickles in my life.

Wife never wanted the crazy foods, midnight cravings or binging.

Its just an excuse to go crazy and eat what you want, when you want. If you dont, you gain 18 and 26 pounds respectively during two pregenencies (both boys were over 7 and 1/2 pounds, one of which was 1 month premature).

Yes, I carried both of mine differently there was no third for be because 1. I have 2 stepsons 2. My babies were both preemies and over 13 lbs and no I was not a gestational diabetic.
Being pregnant in the summer causes all the swelling, my first baby was born on Fathers Day and my second in September. Both are boys and I barely wore maternity clothes for the first, just bought bigger scrubs and t-shirts I did not look pregnant from the back, second one I was in maternity clothes at 10 weeks and looked like I swallowed the Hindenburg and had no ankles from 20 weeks on.
No way would I have gone to Nags Head because if the lack of hospitals, it's a bit better now --my 'baby' graduates from HS Wednesday- and I could not sit that long. We went to Deep Creek and I thought the trip would never end!
You are most likely more tired since you are chasing the other 2, I was lucky my older son loved to sleep in like mommy and take naps with me. I had to stop working Labor Day weekend for my youngest and his birthday was supposed to be October 24 th and he was born September 26.
I had a lot of pelvic pain because his shoulders were so broad and my back hurt as did just about my whole body lol Goodluck on the trip home-- if you go into labor head to Chesapeke VA or Norfolk lol

I realized a few days after I posted this that I was having one of those days, so I really do apologize for those who thought, "woah there, lady..!" I'm just very tired with this one, moreso than the first two, and it probably is for the reason that someone mentioned here. I have a very active 5-year-old and a super active almost 18-month-old! I don't know how someone like Michelle Duggar does it! I have six more weeks to go, and it honestly can't come soon enough!

Moderator 2, thank you so much. I read your comments and cried (don't ask me why, I can't even understand why myself), then I read them a few more times. :)

Might be a bit late here but scrubs? Are you a nurse as well?

Nice. I work at Union Memorial as of August 12 as a new grad.

Just remember nurses tend to 'eat their young' and don't let the others get to you or see you cry. I was a preceptor/ clinician teacher for 5 years. Union is a good hospital to start at, I was full of myself and started at Shock Trauma-- not smart lol

I've been fortunate and get to work in a few different units like PACU and as a scrub nurse. It's fun. I've met a few Ravens that way. Won't mention who for obvious reasons lol.

I left Trauma and went to Baltimore County General aka Nortwest Hospital and stayed for 15 years working on the vent unit-- I loved it and my coworkers then had kids and did homecare for 5 years then when my oldest hit middle school stayed at home with them. I don't know what I'm going to do now that my youngest graduated last Wednesday, right now we have a toddler running around ( my stepsons). I was thinking about teaching or finding a new career part time. Can't interfere with my summers or football lol
