I LOVE our head coach.

I must admit that when he first came to us back in '08 I was a bit skeptical b/c I didn't know much about him. But what he has done is in first 5 seasons is nothing short of SPECTACULAR.

He's taken us to the post-season each of his first 5 seasons of being a head coach. He's won at least one game in each of the 5 post-seasons. 3 AFC championship game appearances. 1 Superbowl win.

And I believe that in future years that list will only grow with more accolades.

IMHO(not being a biased Raven fan, many of you know that I call it how I see it) he is THE BEST head coach in the NFL today but I feel that he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves, I could be wrong.

I know that he is an OUTSTANDING coach, as shown in the SB when he VASTLY out coached Jim and he's been Out-coaching Belichick. Two coaches that do get much appreciation.

Am I wrong or does our HC not get the recognition that he deserves?

He doesn't get the credit he deserves and the disrespect started when Mike Smith beat him out for coach of the year honors back in 2008. I know it makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist but I think a lot of it has to do with the team he coaches. People just love to hate the Ravens...

And I was thinking about that as well. For some reason, WHATEVER the reason is, it seems that if you're not a Ravens defensive player you won't get the credit/respect that you've earned.

It's not like Mike Smith didn't deserve it though. The Falcons were what 4-12 in 2007? And they were in complete disarray after the whole Vick situation and the mess with Bobby Petrino.

That said, I would take John over him anyday.

I don't think he's the best coach in the league (to be 100 percent honest I'd rather take Sean Payton), but that's not intended to be a slight on the guy. I think he's a great coach, arguably the best we've ever had, I'm thrilled we got the better brother and I hope he'll be our head coach for a long time to come.

That 5-11 record was very misleading. The team had talent and was injured. That said its been interesting to see the team built for him. The sb showed me his knowledge of the rulebooks and that he has more guts than I thought. I think with the old regime out we will see how much impact he really has that might've been overlooked before.

He's a better person, man, family man, etc. than he ever will be as a coach. His off the field persona/character is far more important than anything he'll do on the field! :)

I agree with you in the "big picture" sense, but how good a coach he is is pretty important to the Ravens franchise.

But guys remember? Harbs is a horrible coach. He was unwilling to let go of Cam making him "clingy".

In all seriousness, the only coach in the whole NFL who's better is Payton. Bellicheat has cheated too many times. Reid got fired. Jim lost the SB. Tomlin missed the playoffs

I dont understand how typically "experts" say Jim is better than John... yet they've played eachother twice and John has come out on top both times.

And this year John did it with an inferior team talent-wise.

That's because Jim has Kaepernick the most amazing QB the NFL has ever seen with only 7 weeks of experience.

Hopefully he gets the credit, he deserves it - he is a top flight coach.

I was also skeptical of him, I like Billick but, looking back, it's pretty obvious that this team needed a big change.

He's easily a top 5 coach now, his resume in his first five years is better than any coach I can remember. He's been prolific at winning games, big ones too. I'll never forget this article before last season , Gregg Rosenthal ranked him below guys like Rex Ryan, Jim Schwartz, and Dennis Allen (who hadn't even coached yet) LINK

Sure, but I think who he is off the field makes him what he is on the field.

I hate the Pats but BB is by far the best coach in the league.  The things he has done for that team is ridiculous.  Let's stop pretending that Spygate gave them some great advantage.  Most teams did it and they still managed to have one of the best seasons the year after.

He IS the Pats FO.  The OC and DC are just puppets.  He is the OC, DC, HC, ST Coach, GM, of that team.

Ha, yeah. Quoted for truth!

But, BB is the only coach in the league I'd take over Harbs. I used to think John was just a disciplinarian and motivation type coach, but I'm starting to think he can do the x's and o's better than I thought.

I think that Sean Peyton is a great offensive mind and a great HC as well.. But Harbaugh now covers all 3 areas of football. If the Saints don't score 27 or more than their team is likely to lose.

He WAS the best coach in the league.

We've outplayed them EVERYTIME that we've faced them within the past few meetings. He is in a MUCH weaker division so the division title is pretty much guaranteed his every season.

BB is GREAT, one of the best football minds that the game has seen, but it's Harbaugh time now.

Lol "middle of the pack" huh... Do you know if there is a current list out?

I'm interested in seeing how he has boosted his status, if at all, after this past season
