Michael Crabtree tore his achilles

Good thing they stole Boldin, right?

They have to pay his cap number, but now Boldin makes a ton of sense.

Ouch that's a big blow to the 9ers.  Crabtree and Kaep had some great chemistry and were on fire.

Oh my. I can't count him out since Suggs returned as much of a surprise as that was. Still, this could be a problem for them. I personally wasn't sold on them winning their division unlike others and this definitely doesn't help.

Suggs didn't have to run 20+ yards down the field every play.

Tough luck, I always feel for players who get significant injuries during OTAs/training camp. I wish him nothing but a speedy and unproblematic recovery. That said, I like seeing the already-crowned-by-the-media-as-the-next-Super-Bowl-champs take a big blow.

This may take him out for the season and be a big blow to the 49ers offense. I know they got Boldin but this will still hurt them. With Boldin, Crabtree most likely was destined to have a great season since teams would double Boldin more so Crabtree leaving him in one on one coverage.

I think Crabtree would have been the bigger threat between those two at this point similar to how teams zeroed in on neutralizing Torrey more than they did Boldin. It probably would have been the other way around.

Either way, losing Crabtree is a huge blow for the 49ers. He really turned it up last year.

Yeah. As envy said, I think this will really hurt Boldin because now all the attention will be on him and that's not good. Crabtree looked to be their number 1 WR.

Jenkins better step up.

Oh I know. I'm just trying to play v devil's advocate here because it's certainly possible. They can designate him for return for the playoffs if they make them. It's unlikely but I can't discredit it because it's certainly possible even if unlikely.

From what I've heard neither Jenkins or Patton are close to being ready.

They'll sign Moss or Lloyd or someone. They still have Manningham coming back from injury. He'll be their #1 for most of this season.

I BET the pundits will shrug it off like it's no big deal. They won't even mention the fact that Kaepernick didn't know how to throw to anybody else (in the mold of Andy Dalton to AJ Green).

But they're the Niners. They could never "lose too many key pieces" as the experts like to say.

Crabtree had more targets from Kaep than the next two highest receivers combined. The 9ers had better pull something out of their magic hat, or this could be a long season for their passing O.

I thought they were going to crash and burn against SEA's secondary BEFORE this happened. Now it's just going to get ugly.

Seattle's secondary is deadly. They whole Seahawk defense is like Kryptonite for the 9ers O.

Well not only does he have to run 20+ yards down field, he's gotta beat his man AND hit some sharp cuts on his routes.

Nevermind the fact that with him on the field, DC's can opt to double him just to be on the safe side, while putting their best man on Q or vice versa or even man up on both and double up on Vernon...pretty sure either would be effective in limiting their offense
