Seattle and their drug busts

32 posts in this topic

Many of seattles young and up coming defensive players have been popped for PEDs in the last few years, apparently 6 players in 2 years. Anyone think something going on here, because it coincides with Carroll coming and this defence becoming one of the best in the league, or is it just a horrible coincidence.

Don't know much about him but apparently pete Carroll would do anything to win, and not necessarily condone cheating, but would turn a blind eye to it? Would this be a fair assessment?

Agree totally, that is why he is no longer the head coach at USC,Because of issues with dishonesty.

Its possible but Ive only seen two confirmed players using PED's. Can't count Sherman because his test was screwed up apparently for w/e that is worth.

Don't forgot we also had Asa Jackson and Christian Thompson busted for PED's this year I believe. Im gonna watch how this unfolds before making any judgements

It disappointed me. I was beggining to think that by drafting well that teams could rise from the ashes, like the Texans. But then their stars get busted for PED's... smh

Doesn't the league classify stuff like Adderall as PEDs though?  If it's stuff like that I don't think it's a big deal, even if they're not using them legally.  If they're using steroids then I'm concerned, but I wouldn't put it past Carroll to encourage the practice of using PEDs or turning a blind eye to it.

The problem is they use Afterall to mask steroids

everyone just says it adderall because the league isn't allowed to say what it is, but it could be anything. Not every single person busted for PEDs is using it, yet that's what every one Says they got caught for

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the NFL eventually penalizes Carroll.

They would need proof he encourages it though.

I think they could suspend/fine him regardless of his encouragement or proof thereof. As a HC, you need to have control of your team. This conduct could be seen as conduct detrimental to the league and penalize Carroll as a result of not having enough control of what his team does.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the NFL eventually penalizes Carroll.

I think that would fall more on their strength and conditioning coaches than it would Pete. He could get penalized like Sean Payton for just allowing it.

I hear you but he oversees everything. He's the head coach and you know how the NFL likes to make examples.

I wonder the recent law in Washington had something to do with it.

We know diuretics are on the ban list and Washington is set to legalize marijuana .

I think there will be more suspensions coming.

THC really could help Harvin's recurring migraines.

He screwed me before on one of my fantasy teams and I'm happy to pass him. I kind of felt he was finally living up to his potential last year, then he gets hurt again.

So a grade 3 ankle sprain that required surgery was made up? That makes no sense.

So a grade 3 ankle sprain that required surgery wax made up? That makes no sense.

thats what I remember hearing. He was able to play, and he got put in the dog house. I may be wrong.

Edit: looked it up on rotoworld. No ankle surgery. Percy Harvin's (ankle, injured reserve) Saturday operation was an emergency appendectomy, not ankle surgery.

Harvin's "minor surgery" was initially believed to be a cleanup ankle procedure. However, the news doesn't change anything from a recovery perspective, as appendectomies typically require only 2-3 weeks of recuperation. It's still possible Harvin will eventually require an ankle procedure, but he should be 100 percent well before training camp. His Dynasty value is unchanged.

No ankle surgery reported tho so

90% of the players are on PED's anyways. Seattle players are just bad at masking it.

It should be allowed.

Agree with that, disagree with the second part. There is a reason these are banned.

Alright besides the fact that it is violates the spirit of competition,

Some of the substances are dangerous such as HGH. These would clearly be abused in an nfl environment if legal for job security purposes ie performance enhancement. Others are illegal substances like marijuana. It is also makes the league even more liable for player safety as players can claim they were encouraged or had to take drugs to keep up and protect their job.

I'm not going to drag this out in a debate in politics and my personal opinions on PED's. I will leave it with this post.

But as to the fact that it violates the spirit of competion. It doesn't. Like I said, and you agreed on, 9/10 are doing them anyways. So it's an even playing field anyways. Therefore it should just be allowed.

As to them being dangerous. HGH isn't particularly dangerous. Steroids are more dangerous, and even steroids can certainly be used safe. Especially with the amount of money these players have. It's not exactly a problem for them to go to the doctor regularly and monitor their blood pressure, kidneys etc. And use them accordingly with supplements to take away the danger of using them. Again, if you agree on 9/10 already using them, they are already abusing HGH, steroids etc.

I understand that the NFL would be liable if they say hey, go ahead, we allow it. So I'm not saying that should happen just for the NFL. But I think it should be allowed for sports in general. That's just my opinion though. And that's based on the fact that athletes are using them in every sport, it's just a matter of masking it right. Having it banned from sport and then crucifying athletes for using them is just dumb. Some get away with it, some don't. So the whole banning rule is dumb to me.
