well I had to do a mock draft..I was amazed by how late some of the QBs are going especially compared to last year. Looks to be primarily RBs in the first round with maybe an exception or two

Qb:
Rodgers
Brees
Brady
Peyton
Newton
Wilson
Eli
Roethlesbeger
Romo
Ryan

I like the NFC south guys because theyvfacecbad defenses. FYI I love the 11-15 group this year who could easily come close to 5-10.

Rb
Peterson
McCoy
Rice
Foster
Spiller
Johnson
Martin
Wilson
Jones-drew
Charles
Ballard
Gore (that's my first round 12 starting backs)

Wr
Calvin
Bryant
Green
Marshall
Julio
Fitzgerald
Nicks
White
Cobb
Harvin
(I'm no necessarily sold on these being the top 10 yet. This is a very difficult group to rank)

The biggest flaw is the lack of an) 2. Bernard and pierce are both flyers and rb 4/5 at best. I like the newton/flacco combo. And any team with hopkins is a team I like.

I'm huge Bernard fan (Gio that is) and I believe he will be the number 1 back for Cincy. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see if I'm right. Ya Newton Flacco was pretty nice. Two very good QBs in the 3rd and 9th rounds. I'm curious to see how Hopkins looks this year actually.

i don't know if Bernard will get enough carries. You still have the law firm involved. They also seem to pass from the goal line too much. I want to look that stat up actually as that is just based on a general perception.

ESPN opened up the mock draft session yesterday, and I have been hooked...

I have one question...  Who are your top tens at each position this year?

QB Rankings

Kapernik

Rodgers

Peyton

Brees

Brady

Russel Wilson

Cam Newton

RG3

Matt Ryan

Tony Romo

Kapernik is my #1 because of those rushing stats. He will be protected by the best line in football, added weapons in the passing game, and he runs be design near the end zone. He may prove to be the exception to the repeatable rushing td rule.

Brady probably should drop farther. As good as he is, his only real weapon is Hernandez who basically has to play healthy all season due to amendola and gronk being injured, and that wont happen. However, Brady will turn Dobson into a stud and finish alright,

Cam drops that far due to him having the hardest schedule of opponents this season.

Runningbacks

Adrien Peterson

Chris Johnson

Arian Foster

LeSean McCoy

Marshawn Lynch

Doug Martin

Ray Rice

Trent Richardson

CJ Spiller

Alfred Morris

Chris Johnson gets a serious boost due to his upgraded offense. In addition, it will be a run first offense so opportunity will be present. He still has homerun hitting speed, so theres absolutely no reason not to expect a 1500+ season with 10 tds

Sleeper potential in Montee Ball

WR

Calvin Johnson

Brandon Marshall

AJ Green

Demaryius Thomas

Dez Bryant

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Vincent Jackson

Randall Cobb

Wes Welker

TE

Jimmy Graham

Aaron Hernadez

Tony Gonzales

Jason Witten

Tyler Eifert

Vernon Davis

Dennis Pitta

Antonio Gates

Kyle Rudolph

Brandon Myers

Gronk drops out due to injury.

Qb. Don't you think Kap will be affected be better defenses and better prepared defenses? I don't understand your point against cam. The NFC smith defenses are all horrible.

Rb. McCoy in Kelly's offense. Insane potential over cj.

Wr. 2 manning receivers in the top 10? Don't you think when they thros in decker they will being each other down?

On Cam: I can't simplify it anymore. Cam has the leagues hardest schedule this year and they really didnt improve the offensive side of the ball. Now with roster turnover that may not be the case, but it stands to reason he has a relatively difficult schedule of opponents. In addition he now gets Revis 2x a year which is never good. From a comparison standpoint, the top 5 are arguably better than Cam. I take Wilson over Newton just because he has a better team around him and offers a similar skillset.

On Kap: I do, but if he is half the runner he was last year, than the upside with him is better than any other qb. He is a decent passer as well to which they got Anquan Boldin to add to that. If he ends the year with 20 passing tds and 8 rushing scores than you are in great shape. I think that is more than doable in that offense. As for defenses adjusting, teams knew the Vikings were gonna give AD the ball, did that help them? Fact is with that option offense, there are only so many things you can defend and if the offensive line is good enough like it is with the Niners, than theres really nothing you can do.

On Shady: He has a lot of potential, but the fact is we still don't know what kind of offense we will see from Kelly. He has a lot of potential, but CJ's is even greater. 2 years ago we saw 20 scores from Shady. I feel like we definitely could see that from CJ this season. He may have an all-pro offensive line in front of him at every position. Even with Greene there to vulture some td's, CJ is the master of the long rushing TD. I think the minimum is what we saw from Lynch last year, with the upside being something close to Adrien Peterson. As good as Shady is, I cant see his upside being like that. The potential around CJ is just too good.

Rob Gronkowski and Wes Welker both had over 1500 yards if I recall correctly 2 years ago when they played with Brady. Julio and Roddy were both fine too. I actually think they compliment each other because when you defend one of them, you leave the other one open as one works the underneath in the slot, while the other one generally goes to deeper routes. The fade to Thomas was a staple of Manning's goal line options last year, so I expect that to stay the same. I feel Decker will be the odd man out here. I don't think there will be too much a of a conflict.

Good reasoning. I have been debating a few if these guys positioning and wanted to hear your take. I'm not sure on cam. He draws some good out of division defenses but the south ds are collectively the worst in the league

I definitely agree on cj having a bounce back year. I'm not sure if he displaces McCoy especially if we take receiving yards into consideration. This is why rice is so deadly. If you shut down the run he will still catch passes.

I like your reasoning on Thomas and walker. I was looking at it more as a three headed monster but you are right decker could be the one to see a drop off.

Decker is moer similar to Welker than Thomas so I think Thomas will be fine and Decker will see more of a drop off.

I like crushes te rankings. I would consider Hernandez over graham depending on patriot injury status closer to the season.

I haven't said anything about TEs here.

Well the weakness here is clearly rb2. Mathews has been a major disappointment and Bernard is in a time share. However ap is probably good enough on his own to cover up this deficiency. Your wr is probably loaded enough to come up with a good trade.

Agreed. I think Gio might come out with the Bengals starting RB job next year though.

You guys should probably using

fantasyfootballcalculator for your mocks. They are much more realistic than ESPN and the live people are fairly knowledgeable as well. Its good practice for before the drafts start.

I listen to a lot of fantasy talk on Sirius/XM and this is the trend that keeps coming up.  In one of their broadcast drafts last week, if I remember right, in the first round (14-teams) only Megatron and Aaron Rodgers broke the RB pattern.  I am going to do three early drafts taking a different offensive position first in each one, to see how they turn out.

tbh i think you may be better off going away from RB this year and just going for highest scorer available. The RB position is deeper in quality than in recent years.

RB isn't deep this year though, WR and QB are. The difference between the top RBs and the 15th/20th RB is more than the top WRs and 15th/20th WR, and after Rodgers/Brees the next 10-12 QBs are very close. This is a year to take RB early
