Rolando McClain is retiring

193 posts in this topic

Why is everyone hating on him? Seriously. Maybe he retired for the right reasons. You know? Give the guy a break man. What do you want? You want him to come here and get in trouble or not have his mind right? Sounds like some of us are passing judgment a bit too quickly without knowing a thing about why he has retired.

I don't get it. I think the same people mad at him and calling him a waste for retiring might be the same ones saying they wanted him off the team. I don't know if that's the case because I can't look it up now but come on. You want the guy off the team and when he retires you're calling him names?

Come on man.

Some of you guys may be acting a little harsh, there's no point in judging him if no one knows why he's retired for sure yet.

Like some have said, he may just be trying to get his life on track.

Didn't see that coming.

But like Aaron Wilson said on Twitter, we're clear of any future headaches that could have happened with him in the fold. Hope he gets his life together.

I saw a Tweet on Twitter that sums up the Raiders taking McClain....

With McClain retiring you could argue that in a 4 year span The Raiders drafted two of the biggest 1st round busts in draft history

Maybe it was killing him to stay holed up in his house and forget about his homeboys in 'bama.

He chose the easy way out and quit, rather than turn his life around and play in a great organization.

If Jameel McClain can't make it back to be our SAM, we may need to trade for a vet ILB. Either that or we can hope one of our young ILB's can step up and help Brown transition into this 3-4 scheme. McClellan is my favorite to win the SAM position if Jameel McClain can't come back healthy from his injury. There is nobody available in FA at ILB that would help. We can also get lucky with a training camp cut by a team.

I don't think anyone should be calling him names.  I hope he does what's best for him.  I'm upset because this move clearly didn't help us.  I wasn't so sure it would, but I had hope it would.  Oh, well.  It didn't cost us anything because it didn't appear Dansby was on our radar anyway.

As for Rolando, I feel this move has something to do with all the legal issues he has to deal with.  He has no time for football at the moment.  Life comes first.  Maybe he can become a great reform story.  Who knows?

M. Night Shymalan could not have written a more surprising twist to a story than this.

I don't know. Since the defensive front is infinitely better, a guy like Bynes could look really good.

Well, certainly did not see this coming with him only being 24.

I hope it isn't a rash decision like some believe. I hope he's realized he needs to address some issues and is just taking the time to turn his life around. Perhaps he could be back once that is done.

Wish him luck in whatever comes next for him.

I'm really excited for Bynes, Brown, McClellan and Carr. I wonder if Copeland will transition to MLB since he had snaps there.

Sorry but I don't see the point in defending a guy with the kind of rap sheet he has. People may be a bit harsh on their end but some of it is warranted given the opportunity he had with the Ravens. I hope he gets back on track with his life but it's better this happened now rather than later into the season.
