Rolando McClain is retiring

193 posts in this topic

It's probably for the best.

Agreed.  Something seriously wrong with the kid when he has to retire from football before his career even started (and not because of injury).  He's only 23.

Makes me much more excited about the Arthur Brown pick.

Gotta be more to the story than we know. Why would he retire at 24 unless he's in more legal trouble or a career threatening injury?

My guess is McClain doesn't want to show up to OTAs and TC so he made a brash decision.  He'll probably come out of retirement when he thinks it through.  We would still have his rights.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I think Rolando knows he needs to get his life fixed before football.

Lame.. Wasn't trying to snitch but saw he was still in Decatur on Sunday and some chick posted on twitter a pic of him mentioning how he just came into the liquor store twice in the same day. Y U LET ME DOWN ROLANDO :surrender:

Such a shame. We apparently could have had Dansby for a small one-year deal instead.

I don't think we were ever interested in signing Dansby

Also Dansby and McClain are two different linebackers.

If this means he gets his life in order, then I congratulate him. I am sadden a little just because I would have liked to see "What could've been". Good or bad, just wanted to see. Best of luck in retirement, McClain.

Probably a good thing, I just kept seeing him as a trouble maker.  Our guys take football seriously, they don't need that distraction.

I know, and that's a shame.  We clearly made the right decision...

Not gonna judge the guy like some of you. He probably had his reasons. Football just wasn't in his life plan. I hope he turns his life around. So many ex coaches had great things to say about him and also said he had a lot of personal issues to deal with.

Doesn't matter to me if he is on team or not, just not going to call someone a waste or pathetic when I don't know the whole story. That is ignorance.

Unreal. What a tool. Like Pu said, this has rash decision written all over it.

Screw him. Don't come back.

Agreed. Some people love to watch a train wreck and some people like to see the train get safely to the station after a rocky departure. 2 types of people
