Draft a Franchise: Discussion Thread

I figured most wouldn't, but I didn't like the 2nd year QBs (Because of their somewhat unproven nature) other than RG3 but the injury scared me off. So I went with a very young QB with almost no durability concerns, a great arm, and tremendous athletic ability.

Yeah, that's true. Cam has it all physically. It's mentally where I have concerns. I don't mind guys with character concerns, but at the QB position that really scares me away. He looks like he's the type to quit on games. That's my issue with Cam.

Ya, I thought the same thing but I decided that his benefits outweighed the risks and if I can build a solid team around him he has the talent to dominate. To me it seems as though when he is on a winning team he is more focused and motivated but losing streaks seem to get to him.

Cam will be fine.

Just give him a good protection and plenty of weapons and he will produce big numbers.

Ha! I would've went with Aaron Rodgers if I had the first overall selection. He came in at 11. You'd have better luck judging by the Madden Connected Careers Draft. I detect a bit of bitterness from the Forum Mock process. I see you're up to your old tricks in throwing out several names in an attempt to smokescreen the other players that you're interested in. At least you're not posting unflattering pictures next to the ones you actually do want in a misguided effort of discouraging other members from taking them. That's an improvement. Then again, it's early in the process, and you've already established your own deadlines. Perhaps there's no light at the end of the tunnel after all.

Sorry. If it helps, I was expecting him to be gone before I was up. Then again, I don't have a clue of what the trends will be like. I'm anxious to see who's available at the bottom of the 2nd.

It was just an educated guess because there were two key information that fit your pick in that you're a Premium subscriber for ProFootballFocus and J.J. Watt was the highest ranked PFF player. I assume you'll use the PFF stats list often to decide on your picks. Whoever has that premium subscription has the insider's info on your draft board. Anyways, this draft is going to be unpredictable because age has been a big factor, which is why Andrew Luck was drafted before Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

Should be really interesting to see when the rookies for this year start coming off the board.

Who is your bet for the first rookie QB taken? Lol

Too bad Cloweny isn't eligible because that would be an interesting twist too.

I'd say Geno if I had to guess.

Is it bad that I have my dream rounds 1-5 planned out?

Depends on if any of your dream players are on my list.

You should know how the mafia operates when you take something they like.

Interesting selection if watt. I have him as my top ranked player after the qbs but that is a huge risk not getting one of the top few qbs available

I am not surprised rg3 has not been selected. He is far too injury prone and will never Finnish a year.

I am very surprised to see cam go before russel. I have Wilson as the number six ranked player behind flacco who was a fantastic bargain this late as he is a proven qb who is still young and entering his prime. Cam has a lot of potential but making superman signs while you are scoring a garbage td furring a blowout just shows a lack of awareness of what's going on.

Wilson is drastically overrated and honestly I don't care about the celebration, if he plays better while he enjoys himself go for it, but I don't think it's a lack of awareness problem.

Personally I question how good of a player Wilson is and will be. One season even if it was a good season doesn't do it for me. He had a good year as a rookie. I can't doubt or ignore that but he's definitely not rated that high on my board. Just my opinion, however. I'm not the be-all and end-all here but at #6 that sounds really overrated.

It's not the celebration. It's the timing. As for Wilson I don't see how he is overrated. He is a very smart player. He makes good decision. He began to be a really good passer once they took the handcuffs off him about mid way through the year. He doesn't run too often like a griffin or Vick.

agreed - I am rather high on Russell Wilson, maybe it was the work ethic from his senior bowl that makes me think there is no question he will continue to refine his craft. As Rdan stated he may be the most balanced of all the 'young athletic' QBs (outside of Luck) and with better weapons this year I expect another solid year. I do not expect him to be a consistent 4,500+ yard guy for a while if ever, just as I would never with Joe, but I think they are both similar in that stats dont show the impact they have on the team and their offenses

Like I said, the timing doesn't bother me. He had 1 season of production surrounded by an a stud O-Line, Defense, and Run game. Not sure how you can rank him so high with that in mind.
