Draft a Franchise: Discussion Thread

Not surprising at all. Taller fellows usually have a much harder time benching. My dad who played college basketball can't bench much and he is 6'6'' yet my brother who is 6'1" can bench 350lbs.

still shaq is like 375

me personally, i really like the Ninkovich pick, not yet sold on Wright (cast around him might've helped him looking better than he is last year)

Ron Ninkovich might be a product of the system because football stat sites doesn't really view him very highly. As for Major Wright, he's very underrated, but then he was surrounded by two All-Pro CBs and a stud front seven. Finally Randy Starks finds a home. He's very versatile and wl be productive, but I passed on him due to the abundance of DTs. Had to get my guards before they run out.

Rob Ninkovich is a very underappreciated player.  He's had 9 sacks and 10 sacks with 35 plus stops and 35 plus qb hurries the last 2 years. He is 29.  He has played in both the 34 and 43 defense, in fact he was probably better in the former.  he should be the perfect foil for Dumervil on the other side, good at stopping edge runs, can get some pass rush if need be.  Very nice player.  Surprised he has gone unnoticed so far.  And I would say he is a catalyst for their defensive success not a product of any system.

major Wright is a 24 yr old player just now going into his fourth year.  had an extremely productive 3rd year and should really really break out this season.  He had 8 pass defenses as well as 4 INT's last year.  had 71 tackles with four missed, not bad in that department either.  Very happy with the combination of Smith and Wright at safety.

Sanders is a physicaly gifted young receiver. His biggest problem to this point has been his propensity for mental errors.

I believe angerer is getting phased out in indy. Don't think I would go that direction.

Angerer may be getting phased out in Indy but its through no fault of his own. He was drafted because he fit the 4-3/Cover 2 scheme they used to run for years (and fit it very well btw) however he doesn't fit in a 3-4 that Pagano runs at all.

He needs to get onto another 4-3 team and then he'll be a solid MLB again.

if any of the next guys will not be around today, can they please leave their picks with somebody else (ravensdan is not picking any time soon), as we could get quite a few picks done in a short period of time

On the subject of the draft, I liked the Randy Starks pick. I was considering him with one of my next few picks. He's been a bit inconsistent at times, but when he is on he is a monster in the middle of the defense.

He's just one of those players in fantasy that always seems to let you down. So much potential, so much "baggage".

That, and he plays for the Raiders.

Solid picks. Whitner and Wright are both very good players although has struggled a bit in coverage. Starks is beast.
