Draft a Franchise: Discussion Thread

Has anyone been paying attention to the Draft? Brandon Myers has been picked.
I think he's a tough hardworking reliable player, but the two knocks on him are his poor blocking and he doesn't produce many yards after the catch. Not to mention he was a one year wonder in Greg Knapp's TE heavy offense. However, I think he will be the perfect security blanket for Matt Schaub.

I like myers. He's a bit underrated as a player and still has room to improve.

Nobody will pick him. I'll be surprised if someone died but I really like a pass rusher named Adewale Ojomo. I think he's a hidden gem on NYG.

What dumb*** picked Brandon Williams? Banned from the boards.

Who do you think you are?

Damn it, Kerley was my sleeper slot guy.

Glad I could steal him from you.

Really like the Kerley pick. I was hoping to snag him later as a 3rd WR.

Thanks, he was phenomenal last year with horrific QB play.

Good pick. I like Kerley

Thanks.

I also like Ojomo quite a bit.

You got something you would like to say to me?

Pick is in, I feel like I got a very high caliber guard here pretty late. Chris Snee has been one of the most consistent players at his position over the past 5-6 seasons.

Great pick! The only reason he dropped is age.

He's only 31, not that old for an interior lineman.

Nice pick. I had him in my top 5 guards available. I don't think he's too old considering the position he plays and has not been particularly injury prone.

The age debate is a tough one. In my opinion, I would rather get a young and rising talent that can be a cornerstone for your franchise than have an aged and established veteran who could give you a few years of service. However, I wouldn't mind getting stopgap veterans that could fill in my needs. So far, my team is infused with young and priming talents. I think my oldest player is Alex Smith at age 29. So I'm sacrificing established talent for the future. Good thing QBs have one of the best longevity, so I think I can get seven years out of Smith. He's not a Top Tier QB, but a superior Game Manager. Now that we're in the mid-rounds, any talent will do because I need some veterans too with a mix of rookies.

seven years of Alex Smith?

I give my condolences to your team's fan base

However this tactic wouldn't work in real life because of the salary cap. You have to get the right player at the right price, regardless of age. I think how Ozzie has mixed the team with veterans and rookies to make us competitive for years, not now.
