Draft a Franchise: Sign up thread.

That might be a bit too soon, as I would like to make sure everyone is on board that it is starting. Maybe Wednesday or Thursday?

Either of those nights would would be cool with me.

To get the draft order, I was thinking random number generator with numbers 1-32 (if we get that many people).  Your number is your signup spot and if your number is the 1st to show up you pick first and so on.

I like that idea.

That's exactly what I was planning on doing.

We currently have 27 signed up. I would like 32 total, but I would also like to get this going ASAP. '

Should we go ahead and set a start date?

How about tomorrow evening?

we're only missing five people, let's just give it a week - the offseason is still long enough and there's no rush to get this started without a full compliment of teams.
let's say monday 20th of may, 0:01am ET over there and 5:01am in UK

if i don't get no 13, i'll be very upset lol
we could go 1-32, then 2-32-1, followed by 3-32-1-2 order - full 32 rounds

A few ground rules:

If you're going to run a league through this site, it HAS to be open to everyone. The organizer may not put possible participants on ignore.

Everyone has to behave...all regular forum rules apply.

so you're joining in too then :)

Good practice for fantasy, I suppose... Well.. sort of

You're in.

GM Call List is a must add to speed the process. Also, we need to implement a lot of protocols like back-up GMs, BPA Lists, and other forms of notifications.

Also, we should start soon because it might take a long time to complete this 25 round selection. That's 800 selections.

Estimate Completion:

Total: 800 selections

Rate: 10 selections per day

Time: 80 days

If we start sometime by the end of the week, then we should be completed by early August.

Also we should screen the participants by their activity. Remember how inactive members can basically sabotage the timing of our mock offseason draft. It completely stop some rounds by a whole day.

if you got 32 francises you need 32 rounds so everybody gets a turn at being the first in a round, so that's 1,024 selections; order like 1-32 in 1st, then 2-32-1 in second, 3-32-1-2 in third, 4-32-1-2-3 in forth etc

12 hours should be more than enough to be on the clock, us active members will get to a pc at least twice a day and we would have an idea of our pick before hand so that'll speed the process.

ps with 32 selections per francise, one can get 11 starting ofense, 11 starting defense and 10 for cover

Back up GMs will be simply on a interest basis. Hopefully no one drops out. While it is a commitment, it doesnt take much time or research to take part.

We certainly dont need a BPA list.

GM call list would be useful I suppose, as I would like there to be a message system to alert the next person when they are up. What other means of notification are you referring to?

As a method of reducing the amount of PMs we get, once the order is determined, I think it would be wise to have PM groups. Since you can have 8 in a group you would need four groups for 32 participants.

I'm not sure how that reduces the number of PMs? Either way each person will get 1 PM per round letting them know they are up.

It would reduce the amount of private message threads more specifically.

i know it's not, was just trying to make it a little bit different like the whole game is; rather like having 32 players instead of 25 too lol

Exactly...
Round 1: 1-32
Round 2: 32-1

So on.

Does each new reply alert the participants in the thread though? The purpose of PMs is to be an alert.

do you need a 32nd person?

How active will you be over the summer?

This is a long process that it might take over 80 days to complete.

25 Players is good

11 Offensive

11 Defensive

3 Special Teams

If we can cover all those, then we're fine. If a GM tries to follow that route.

We're not drafting all the players in the NFL.

By Round 7, most of the marquee players will be gone, which represents the top 10% of the league.

Then it's going to be a drag once Round 20 kicks in because 30% of the league is selected.
