^ I agree, wasn't the best consistently but Frank the Tank did flash playmaking and big hit ability from time to time. I remember that game Walker really flew into them lol

I am going to give my season predictions... When I say "Worst Case Scenario" I mean the worst case that I imagine to be pretty likely.  Of course, as always, the true worst case is 0-16, but I'm not about to make that prediction haha.  Same goes for "Best Case Scenario", it's my best case prediction that I could truly see happening.  Then I'll also make my "Most Likely Scenario" prediction.

A little research I threw together:

For Joe Flacco's career, In season openers & games following a bye:

223/356, 2698 Yards, 17 TD, 5 INT
62.6%, 7.58 Y/A, 95.9 QB Rating
12-0 Record (50% against playoff teams)

And that includes his first 2 career games (he had the bye in week 2 of his rookie year).  Excluding those 2, in his last 10 games meeting the criteria (so, Since 2009):

195/308, 2440 Yards, 17 TD, 3 INT
63.3%, 7.92 Y/A, 102.2 QB Rating
10-0 Record (60% against playoff teams)

Continuing on a year by year basis, Since 2010:

149/240, 1958 Yards, 13 TD, 2 INT
62.1%, 8.16 Y/A, 102.4 QB Rating
8-0 Record (75% against playoff teams)

Since 2011:

109/175, 1444 Yards, 11 TD, 1 INT
62.3%, 8.25 Y/A, 106.9 QB Rating
6-0 Record (83% against playoff teams)

2012:

58/86, 739 Yards, 6 TD, 0 INT
67.4%, 8.59 Y/A, 117.3 QB Rating
3-0 Record (100% against playoff teams)

Granted one thing... only 2 of those 12 games were on the road, and 1 was neutral (the Super Bowl).  The other 9 were all at home.  And it's fairly well documented that Flacco plays very good at home most of the time anyway.  But still.  He is excellent when given extra time to prepare.  So I foresee big things in the opener versus Denver.

Good stuff.  I wonder if this also applies to games with only a little extra rest (i.e. Sunday after a Thursday, or even just a Monday after Sunday).  We have a couple Thursday night games this year, so that might bode well for us in the games that follow that, as well.

Good stuff.  I wonder if this also applies to games with only a little extra rest (i.e. Sunday after a Thursday, or even just a Monday after Sunday).  We have a couple Thursday night games this year, so that might bode well for us in the games that follow that, as well.

Got the numbers for you now...

Interestingly enough, his numbers seem to suffer when given an abnormal number of days between games.  That means that when given a few extra days (such a Monday game following a Sunday, or a Sunday game following a Thursday or Saturday game) OR fewer days (such as a Sunday game following a Monday, or a Saturday following a Sunday, or a Thursday game following a Sunday, etc.) his numbers drop compared to having the standard 7 days, or at least a full extra week.

Those numbers are:

Extra Days (More than 7 days, but not a season opener or following a bye week):

200/347, 2310 Yards, 10 TD, 8 INT
57.6%, 6.66 Y/A, 77.9 QB Rating
8-4 Record (42% against playoff teams)

Fewer Days (Fewer than 7 days):

273/467, 3029 Yards, 17 TD, 14 INT
58.5%, 6.49 Y/A, 77.5 QB Rating
9-6 (60% against playoff teams)

Abnormal Time (Extra or fewer days, but not a full week or more extra time):

473/814, 5339 Yards, 27 TD, 22 INT
58.1%, 6.56 Y/A, 77.6 QB Rating
17-10 Record (52% against playoff teams)

You've already seen the numbers for the full week+ of extra time, so here are the numbers for normal 7 days between games:

Normal Time (7 days):

1018/1692, 12268 Yards, 77 TD, 37 INT
60.2%, 7.25 Y/A, 88.5 QB Rating
34-20 Record (44% against playoff teams)

So he is standard Flacco, about his career numbers, with a normal amount of time between games.  He is amazing with a lot of extra time.  And he is off his game when it's not an extra season week between games but also not the usual 7 days between.  I wonder if something about the preparation routine throws him off in those situations?  Kind of a statistical oddity, and I was surprised to see it.

Granted, by far the two worst games in the "Extra Days" split are the AFC Championship game vs. Pittsburgh in 2008, and the following year's game against the Colts in the playoffs.  Two of the worst games in his career, in fact.  That's not really due to the extra days.  It's due to him being a rookie going up against the #1 defense in the NFL on the road and on the second biggest stage there is (conference championship, just behind the Super Bowl as far the NFL goes).  And it's due to him playing a road game against a team that would go on to make the Super Bowl, as a sophomore QB battling an injury that he probably shouldn't have been playing at all with.  If you just look at how he's done in games with those extra couple of days since then, he is:

Since 2010 w/ Extra Days:

126/209, 1388 Yards, 8 TD, 2 INT
60.3%, 6.64 Y/A, 88.8 QB Rating

6-1 Record (29% against playoff teams)

If we combine that with his Since 2010 w/ Extra Weeks stats from my initial post, he is sitting pretty.

Since 2010 w/ Extra Time:

275/449, 3346 Yards, 21 TD, 4 INT
61.2%, 7.45 Y/A, 96.1 QB Rating
14-1 Record (53% against playoff teams)

For those curious, that 1 loss was the 2011 Monday Night Football game against Jacksonville.  I think we can all agree that wasn't one of Cam Cameron's finest games.  Ray Rice wasn't getting anywhere on the ground so he just has Joe air it out with no run support and the routes aren't getting the receivers open, David Reed fumbles the ball twice... etc.  One of the most disgusting offense performances from an entire team I have ever seen.

Excited about Jimmy Smith and Web returning to the field.  Caldwell will tweak the offense enough to make people forget about #81 departure and our defense will dominate upfront.  A lack of depth will be another non-issue for this years team.  Back in Black and Purple for another SB run.

Cannot wait to start seeing these 2013 training camp videos surface on the website.  Definitely will seems like a different offense with out #81 & #44 on the field.  Caldwell and Harbs will still make the best use of all the pieces that the Wizard made available

to us.
