Ed Reed has hip surgery; out until training camp

98 posts in this topic

What if Ed came back from surgery, said he wasn't feeling up to it, and just retired? He'd pocket the 6 million in guaranteed money and Houston would be SCREWED.

LOL that would be great

Ravens - 1 Texans - 0

Ozzie is a genius.

Actually it's more like this:

Ravens: 4
Texans: 0

Pollard, Jones, Reed, and Leach. Lol.

Pretty much. "Hey look Ed Reed is available let's get him!" Just saw his name and probably figured they were getting the old Ed Reed, not a worn out injury prone version of Ed Reed.

Though we do have to thank Houston for doing this, if they hadn't signed Ed Reed, they may have drafted Elam in the first instead of Hopkins.

So we potentially have 2 things to thank them for!

Lol, yeah; but I don't know, man. I think we would have taken Elam with or without Ed. With Ed would have been great--to have him mentor Elam would have been awesome. He still can--when he retires.

I do wonder if we would have signed Huff, though.

True, but I don't think we'd have drafted him if the Texans had. :p

Indeed. You think the Texans wanted him though? I just don't know. Not saying they didn't. Just don't remember a lot of buzz around him from them. They got the guy I felt they wanted the most.

All we can do is speculate really, but I don't think it's unreasonable to say they'd have taken a gun safety in the first without Ed, with the depth of WRs available.

  -_-

Be prepared to be let down Jonathon.   He is not the man he used to be.

Good way to look at it. His name on a texans jersey just looks so ugly and wrong though.

Oh man can you imagine if the Texans release Reed because of the surgery and his injury, what would this poor guy do with that jersey lol.

More Ed being Ed, Reed has admitted that he may not be ready for the regular season and may miss some games. He also says he is more focused on being ready for later in the season.

Reed's injury hoodwink keeps getting worse for the Texans. "I plan on being back for Week 1," Reed said Wednesday. "But as you’ve known me for the longest time, I’m going to be smart about my injuries and make sure I’m there for the later part of the season when the team really needs me."

Hasn't Ed Reed been saying that sort of thing at the beginning of every season for some years now?

Might sound wrong but I hope he never plays again. I don't want to see it.

Another reason I am glad we parted ways.

Adios Amigo. I won't miss the constant surgeries late in the offseason ... mulling retirement or having to be carried off the field after each missed tackle. I might miss the INTs though. Maybe Huff can limit the trade-off.

Saw this on twitter:

"Oh. RT @taniaganguli Ed Reed said he thinks (hip injury) might have happened when "a certain quarterback" (Brady) kicked him in the playoffs"

Can't imagine what the boards would be like if Reed was still a Raven and this little piece of information came out.
