Fantasy Football 2013: Who do you hope to get?

244 posts in this topic

This makes no sense. If you went and grabbed the stud qb in rd 1 there is no reason to take a second tier guy for one week of pt. I am intrigued with the idea of say picking Rodgers at pick 10 and breed at rd 2 pick 2.

That why you target a tier 2 or even a tier 3 QB that can produce like a tier 1 QB. It's BPA system, you don't reach .

The standard 5 round strategy is to get 1 QB, 2 RB, and 2 WR. However, what I'm saying that it's might also be a good strategy to land two QBs in the first 5 rounds. Let's say you're picking last of the 1st round, if you decide to try land two stud QBs back to back, that's up to you. Stud QBs go for a higher standard than a WR or RB, since they operate in a platoon system and there's a very few one workhorse styles.

Example (Not an accurate system)

QB - Drew Brees - Round 1

RB - Jamaal Charles - Round 2

WR - Randall Cobb - Round 3

QB - Tony Romo - Round 4

WR - Pierre Garcon - Round 5

You're saying romo is bpa in rd 4. I find that hard to believe. If you are saying get Rodgers and Bree's round 1-2 at the turn I am interested what you could get at rd 3-4 turn and 5-6 in return. You would have to absolutely nail those 4 picks. But you could demand your pick of wr/rb combo in trade for Bree's if you could field a competitive team for 3 weeks or so and you would be trading for a known quantity. If you take 2 more of the upside qbs late you could really control a bidding war. Say you can also grab Bradford and flacco later on.

It's a projection, but I think Romo will have a big year now that he has a target on his back to justify his big contract.

I like romo as well he is amongst my sleeper qbs and I actually think the cowboys will win the east this year now that they are no longeredia darlings. Also it won't hurt romo that it seems dez finally found the light bulb.

I do want to try a mock taking Rodgers and Bree's early and coming back with another qb or two late and see how viable the team could be.

It's hard to get two of Rodgers, Brady, or Brees unless you're playing in a 8 team league and you're picking last, or everyone is reaching.

Didn't know where to ask this so I decided I would ask here. Does anyone do a league for forum members? Or is it basically just everyone doing their own leagues and discussing them here?

Taking two stud QBs could also give you a valuable trade commodity if you need help at another position or if your #1 QB goes down.

After doing a few mocks, this is what I noticed. (14 teams)

1. Runningback is deeper than usual. Quality can be found in later rounds if you know who to look for. If you know you're sleepers you may be able to get away with going elsewhere early on.

2. Wide Receiver while deep isnt deep in quality. There are sleepers, but this is the postion where I feel you're going to have to pick your hits.

3. Quarterback might just beat the deepest position in terms of quality I have ever seen.

4. Tight end is still basically a crap shoot outside of Gronk + Graham, but there are a few sleepers that can be had later.

5. Seattle's defense is going to be reached for.

There were a few last year.

Interesting. Do you know who won them? Just so I have an idea who the best FF owners are.

Gabe demolished in one, I can't remember the other I was in.

The only one I participated in on this forum is was the 2011 ESPN league. It was an interesting one, as it was my first league with two starting QBs. I ended up winning it all. Had a sweet line up in that one. My main corps was made up of Matthew Stafford, Eli Manning, Arian Foster, Frank Gore, Ryan Mathews, Brandon Marshall and Jason Witten. I'd throw Jeremy Maclin in there, but he was too injury prone.

I would like to do one with guys from here. It will be interesting to see if ravens players are overdrafted.

My most challenging league is with a group of guys from fantasyfootballcafe boards. Hard to get an edge there.

Maybe the title of this should be more generalized, Fantasy Football 2013 Discussion. How do I change it?

Hey, if anyone wants to do a league with people from here I'd be down. I know it's a while from now and I'm new to these boards, but it'll help to familiarize myself with a few people on here.

Ahhh yea, finally getting closer to Fantasy Football! heres who i want to get, then i have some sleepers.  I have ray rice and arian foster as my two keepers, how nice is that, all thanks to my block buster trade that worked out perfect.

Rbs- Since i have two full time starters im not too worried about my rb corps, not bragging but ive always been good at finding rbs in free agency, last year my find was alfred morris, worked out very well.  That being said, im really wanting to get Reggie Bush this year, i think he has a great year, he may not get a lot of rushes but i think he will def get a lot of passes.

Wrs

Percy Harvin- did great for me last year and i think he still has a great year

torrey smith- he will be the clear number one for us and has big play potential, he may not be consistent but he has huge upside

QB- Deep this year imo, i wont grab one till after the 6th but heres some guys im eyeing

Tony Romo

Cutler

Wilson

luck

bradford

TE- Since i wont be able to get gronk or graham, ill wait till a later round to get a TE, heres two im eyeing

Pitta- we all know him, with boldin gone i feel hes going to get more work, even last year he put up decent numbers

Cook- With bradford having weapons now, this guy has big potential

Sleepers

Locker

ty hilton

donard robinson

I love fantasy football and i will do a good write up soon, not that i think anyone cares what i think, i just like doing it...just gotta wait a bit more

Sleepers
Locker
ty hilton
donard robinson

At this point, I'm personally not as sold on TY Hilton as a sleeper, mostly because of the acquisition of Darrius Heyward-Bey. Should he carve out his spot as their #2, it would mean less opportunities for Hilton. It will be interesting to see which one wins the starting job opposite of Reggie Wayne.

yea i was thinking about that, but im just not a fan of bey, so im thinking hilton makes progress and takes the spot,

Hilton is way too boom or bust to be counted on. Unless you can have him as a flex player or a third starting wideout. That s where I like to put the deep threat only guys like Hilton.

Welkers value will be interesting. So will Harvins.

I think both could be taken in the first 2 rounds

Last year I had Hilton as a major sleeper for this season. I think he'll be a top 20 WR

I don't think you can take any bronco receiver. Now that they have three their value is destroyed.

I think around when Luck should go is when I get my QB. If I get him at a good overall pick, cool. If it doesn't work out, then Romo would make me happy too. One of those 2 and then Flacco as a back up. Too risky?

Im hoping to get Romo in the 5th or 6th, as for a back up, im looking into: bradford, flacco, freeman.  I think they all have huge upside, which imo is what you look for in a backup to later use for trade.

Starting to think Brees would be an excellent pick up at the end of the first round. Most yards two consecutive years with the addition of their head coach Sean Payton (and not to mention the lack there of him last year) all tell me you can't go wrong as long as he's starting.

The problem is the amazing amount of depth at QB this year. You can easily get a starter in round 8 and while he wont be Brees, I'd take a guy like Luck or Eli + #1 RB. Over Brees + #2 RB.

it's just the seemingly guaranteed consistency. At that point you hardly even pick up a QB in the last round and just pick one up come bye week time. And this is just a late late first round inquiry, so I'd most likely get my RB1at the same time.

I think Ridley is set for a big year. I read that he put in work at the gym and gained a significant amount of muscles. And he perfectly fits the Pats offense
