Fantasy Football 2013: Who do you hope to get?

244 posts in this topic

I have no idea what the top 10 threads in here are about and there is way too much to read to even attempt at understanding lol. But the 'Welcome to the Fantasy Forum' thread says to talk about fantasy teams (and madden) in here.

EDIT: Here's a ranking list
http://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/rankings/consensus-cheatsheets.php

As early as it is, I still look forward to the 2013 fantasy football season. Perhaps after the NFL 2013 draft is appropriate to start pondering some plans for the fantasy drafts. So who do you hope to get?

In terms of later rounds, I think I'd get my number 2 QB in Joe Flacco under Caldwell's offense. I think Joe can output better numbers than ever this year. Steven Jackson might be a RB2 I'd pick up earlier than projected. If he gets the same touches Turner had in the red zone, he can get a lot of TD's. I'm not convinced he's too old yet.

My main targets in fantasy football are AJ Green, Joe Flacco, Pitta, Chris Johnson, Randall Cobb, and as a sleeper Jake Locker. That way I get the bulk of my team last year back except without Jordy Nelson, Alfred Morris (who won't be completely under the radar at the start next year), and Torrey Smith. I usually do IDP as well with Sacks and Turnovers scoring big points so I wish I could get last years team back with Watt, Clay Matthews, JPP, Aldon Smith, Patrick Peterson, and Ed Reed. My team was so good last year lol I got a bunch of guys that weren't expected to be dominant and won the championship easily. So if I get the core of my team back that would be fantastic.

Top sleepers

Qb. Flacco, Bradford, locker. My new strategy this year may be to hoard 3 to 4 qbs early on and see who busts out

Wr. Hopkins, Maclin, broyles

Rb. Bryce brown, Murray, Reggie bush.

You really like Cunningham don't you?

Why in the world would you touch him in fantasy football?

Same with Dion Sims. Can't imagine him racking up points.

Agree.  Cunningham has Fleener and Allen in front of him.  Plus the Colts also have Wayne, Hilton, DHB, and Lavon Brazill who will be more productive.

RB: David Wilson, Lamar Miller, LeVeon Bell, Montee Ball, Reggie Bush, Steven Jackson, Isaiah Pead/Daryl Richardson

Disagree with Bernard completely. He should win the starting job from BJGE and BJGE should go back to his old role of short yardage and goal line back

Flacco round 5???? I'd expect him to be later than QB10 off the board. Though, he may very well be worth it this year I'd prefer to get him at a steal.

I think I'd rather get Bernard Pierce later round rather than Ray Rice on round 1. I could see Pierce participating consistently this year. Though, getting both could be the best committee to own. Them and the Eagles RBs

My RB dream team:
Pick 1: Ray Rice
Pick 2: Lesean McCoy
Late rounds: Bernard Pierce and Bryce Brown

I can't see an aweful scenario appearing with those 4. Even on bye weeks I might just throw both from one team in! If Rice or McCoy get hurt, a damn good replacement is ready.

Yes I believe Cunningham will pass those guys by. Yes his blocking is absolutely sick, but that should keep him on the field for third downs. But I admit the trio in Indy may be a lot to overcome.

I think that will be way closer to a 60/40 split. Fantasy hell

Its possible but when you draft a guy in the second round. You basically are drafting him to be the guy because your old guy wasnt good enough. I think once BJGE started fumbling, he lost his only redeeming quality.

Fantasy is only fun if you get to pick defensive players. Notice I said playerS.

That's where you find out who is JV...or should I say All-Pro vs All-Madden. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning aren't bad pickups because those are pass exclusive offenses with a bunch of receiving threats.

Skipped out on fantasy last year, but the previous year, I was challenged in the take as many RB's approach as possible because there's only a handful of feature backs left in the league. However, Leveon Bell could be an awesome 2nd or 3rd RB. Marshawn Lynch, AD, Foster seem to be the only 30 (or 25 when you think of Foster) carry guys left...maybe the Washington kid

I would agree and disagree here. He may jump up and be a surefire first in many but I think on average a 12 team league will have QBs of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan...RBs: Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, Arian Foster, Lesean McCoy, Trent Richardson, MJD (maybe), Jamaal Charles, Alfred Morris, Doug Wilson, Marshawn Lynch...WRs: Calvin Johnson...That is 13 guys that will likely go before Wilson in the first...I think this years mid tier QBs of Luck, Wilson, Cam Newton, Eli, Joe etc. will lower the value of QBs and as usual the small amount of fulltime RBs makes each one a hot commodity.

I just dont see Wilson going ahead of some of those mid to elite QBs in fantasy like Stafford, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Andrew Luck...while he will likely go in the top 4-10 I think his value will be pretty solid for where you draft him..as will all the mid tier QBs

Lesson 1: Double Dip on Stud QBs

I landed Drew Brees and Peyton Manning and won the league.

If you have a stud QB on your bench, then you know 100% he's not on the other team racking up points.

One less elite QB = one less problem to deal.

Lesson 2: WR Corps is deep, so try not to hoard them early (Rounds 1-3)

I landed Julio Jones in the 2nd Round, Vincent Jackson in the 4th, Andre Johnson in the 5th, Eric Decker in 7th, and Randall Cobb on the waiver. That shows how deep WR position is and the experts always undervalue good WRs.

Lesson 3: Don't draft for need

You have a position that's unsettled, but need to reach, then I say just draft best talent possible. I won my league with only one viable RB in Doug Martin. The rest were Stevan Ridley (late round) and Willis McGahee (8th Round). Heck my philosophy of taking another QB after I landed Drew Brees shows why it's the best idea.

Lesson 4: Don't even bother drafting a kicker

Save your precious roster spot for a hidden gem and cut loose the weakest link and get a kicker on gameday.

Lesson 5: Don't be a homer!

If I was a homer, I would've selected Torrey Smith over Eric Decker, Vincent Jackson, and Peyton Manning.

Anyways, I might think of double dipping RBs in the 1st Two Rounds.

1st/2nd Round RBs:

Adrian Peterson

Arian Foster

Ray Rice

Chris Johnson

LeSean McCoy

Doug Martin

Marshawn Lynch

Jamaal Charles

CJ Spiller

Steven Jackson

Trent Richardson

Reggie Bush

That's interesting. I have never heard of this idea. I assume you were picking at the end if the round? That's the only wsynitbwould work.

This is only my strategy, but I'd never double dip on QBs. If I were to double dip at a single position, it'd definitely be at RB.

I triple dip at RB.  At the end of the season most people are bitching about how they have no RBs the most.

I never double dip at QB unless I am going for mid to late-rounders.  If I get an elite guy, I'm good.

Oh, most definitely. I do too. Much like you, I may target a falling one in the mid-to-late range. Perhaps a Rookie with upside like a Cam Newton or a Robert Griffin III. Otherwise, I wouldn't do so until I have depth at other positions.

I've never taken a qb before rd 5. I feel like taking 3 to 4 rd5 or later.

I like to take an elite QB in round 1 (Rodgers, Brady, Brees, or Peyton). Then I'll target another one on BPA on rounds 3-8 (Ryan, Flacco, Eli, Luck, Wilson, Griffin III, Stafford, Kaepernick).

You know why...

A stud QB on a good day will probably reach 30 points (50 points if you didn't nerf them)

On a bad day, Brees still brings in double digit points (15-20 points).

RBs are prone to injuries and WRs are prone to shutdowns. However, having one work horse back is important. The WR Corps can be mixed and matched due to their abundance.

A second QB will likely see very minimal playing time during the season. A selection as early as the 3rd, 4th or even 5th should definitely be active on a weekly basis. Unless you're playing in a two QB league, loading up on a position of luxury does little to counteract its weakening of the other positions.

This makes no sense. If you went and grabbed the stud qb in rd 1 there is no reason to take a second tier guy for one week of pt. I am intrigued with the idea of say picking Rodgers at pick 10 and breed at rd 2 pick 2.
