Elam's hits will bring the noise and media attention. Brown will dominate silently. There's a lot of people who lead the league in tackles and no one knows who they are, I have a feeling Brown will be that way.

One would hope that the sportswriters who vote for the awards no who the leading tacklers are.  That's why Kuechly won last year, even though he was snubbed by Pro Bowl voters, who are not necessarily sportswriters, but general fans.

Maybe not 5 FFs and 8 picks, but Brown could get close to that. Maybe 4 picks tops. That would be really bold and highly unlikely though.

I keep reading that "while Elam is no Reed he is a good player..." or "Arthur Brown will never be Ray, but..." and I can't help but think why not? I bet when Ray was selected every scout said "He's no Singletary, but he'll contribute."

 

In my mind I can't see why Matt Elam and Arthur Brown can't become the new best ever at their respective positions.

Well I think 20 tackles a game is bit of an exaggeration, but a good Dline will make the LBs look that much better.

I think Elam will be a better overall player than the rest of safety class.  Vaccaro isn't going to help Saints win much w/ that defense roster.

Fair. I just don't like the immediate assumption that they will never live up to the standard.

Regardless of who wins it, this defense, once depleted, is absolutely loaded, and noticeably better. You have so much depth at almost every position except for middle backer. That is obviously the position lacking the most depth due to questions with Jameel and Rolando. This might be the most athletic defense we've had in years.

If we're taking about DROY for the Ravens then my money is on Arthur Brown. With the DL and his skills I think he gets it done. I'm not so sure about if he gets league DROY. It might go to Jordan.
