Rookie Season Predictions

54 posts in this topic

I can't wait to see this class take the field but in the mean time I figured I'd see what type of production everyone expects to see out of our new ravens.
Here's what I expect:
Matt Elam: 70 tackles, 3 FFs, 3 INTs, 2 Sacks, 4 TFL.
Arthur Brown: 90 tackles, 1 FF, 2 INTs, 2 Sacks, 10 TFL.
Brandon Williams: 20 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 FF, 4 TFL.
John Simon: 10 Tackles, 1 Sack.
Juice: 100 rushing yards, 100 recieving yards, 1TD.
Ricky Wagner: Compete for a starting spot.
Ryan Jensen: Back-up, depth.
Kapron Lewis-Moore: IR.
Aaron Mellette: 10 Receptions, 100 yards, 1 TD.
Marc Anthony: 5 Tackles.
Some of these might seem bold but I'm optimistic about this season!

No stats for me but both Elam and Brown make the all-rookie team. Arthur Brown wins DROY.

Stats are not necessary any type of expectations are great! I would be elated if they played that well. Any expectations for the others?

Cant really comment on those guys being that I only know Brown, Elam, and probably Williams will start.

I second this notion...except I got Elam as DROY.

You're all wrong.....

Williams will become the best NT in the NFL in his first year, and win DPOY....

Duh...........

Bold. I actually think I may have underestimated Anthony and that he will emerge as the next Revis in his rookie year and Jensen will become the next Mangold. Reasonable right?

Also, you can have my sig for life if Elam doesn't get more than 4 TFLs next season (barring injury)

Ya I wanted to put more but I didn't want to reach too much like some did with Upshaw last year expecting 6-10 sacks out of him.

I've already heard it mentioned before in another thread, but I think Juice will prove to be Cooley 2.0. I see him and Pitta becoming a nightmare for LB's and Safeties, with Dickson contributing as well. I also see Elam, Brown and Williams help our defense to get in the top 5, with Elam or Brown becomin DROY.

That's an interesting comparison I haven't heard yet. If he produces like Cooley did in his prime that would be fantastic.

Big difference though - Upshaw only started 9 games, and they weren't consecutive.  I expect Elam to start all 16 games.

I realize but people expected Upshaw to start just like they expect Elam to start so you can't be sure.

That's fair - I guess the point is if he gets proper playing time, Elam should have more than 4 FF - the only reason he won't get there if he's just not on the field enough, not a reflection on his ability, is what I was trying to get at, the same as lack of sacks for Upshaw is more of a reflection on lack of playing time and not lack of ability.

Ya I factored in playing time for my expectations. I don't think Elam and Brown take over as full time starters this year. I would say they get in the 85%-90% of snaps range this year so I dropped their numbers a bit.

Elam will get 100% of snaps

i think the only players from this draft class that become full time starters right away are elam and brown, unless leach gets released.

brandon williams might need a year to get used to much better competition.  and the rest of the rookies have a ton of competition at their positions.

brown and elam have the luxury of not having much competition.

i'll predict a stat line for all of them right here though:

Elam: 80 tackles, 4 INTs, 3 sacks, 2 FF

Brown:  110 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 INTs, 2 FRs

Brandon Williams:  15 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 FF

John Simon:  20 tackles, 3 sacks

Juszczyk:  80 rushing yards, 250 receiving yards, 2 TDs

Ricky Wagner:  starter at RT if Oher starts at LT and Osemele at LG.  however, if a LT is signed, redshirted a year

KLM:  IR

jensen:  backup interior lineman and 100 snaps

aaron mellette:  5-10 catches

marc anthony:  makes the team as a safety and sees 50 snaps to spell huff and elam.

Who else is going to play strong safety I mean cmon

This shouldn't be hard to understand at all. I think he's trolling us at this point

There is 0% chance he plays 100% of snaps. That would mean he doesn't take a single snap of rest and avoids any injuries. That seems very unlikely in my book and I think Brown and Thompson could both play SS especially Thompson. Are you just ruling them out instantly? Think logically about this guys.

Thomphson is suspended and Brown cannot play SS....

The only way he does not play 100% is injuries...

Just because they are drafted, doesn't mean they are automatic starters. I see good battles in training camp, with Elam being the only real potential starter this year. I see the rest of them providing some amazing depth and more starting potential in 2014.

I disagree with Elam being the only potential starter. Brown might be better than anyone in our ILB core.

Thompson is not suspended the entire season and why can't Brown play SS? Enlighten me. Hell Huff could even slide to SS to spell Elam and have someone else play FS. Remember the team trains Safeties to play both spots. Also what about Emmanuel Cook assuming he makes the team? You just aren't being smart about it if you think Elam plays 100% of snaps. 8 players in the entire NFL played 100% of defensive snaps last season.
