LT Position Resolved ?

Rolando was though? I'll admit that Gaither was a pain in the butt, but when he was on the field he was a dominant player. It's obviously very unlikely, but he seems to be motivated by money. Give him a chance on a SB contender with an incentive laden contract. I dont see the downside. If he just turns out to be a bad apple, he can be cut for no loss.

Rolando is younger than Gaither, and he doesn't have the injury concerns...

Got-ya GC. I don't get on much so I try to answer whenever possible. Wasn't too sure though. Had to look it up. LOL Drafting Kalil and cutting McKinnie would have been sweet for Minnesota. Wish we could have done something like that. Seems many are hopeful for 5th round pick Ricky Wagner from Wisconson. Very fluid guy with 27 consecutive games at left tackle. He might be like Marshal Yanda who was picked in the third round and turned out to be a very good tackle on the right side before being moved to guard. Sometimes an over achiever like Wagner can work his way into being a good servicable player. Unlike McKinnie Wagner is a very good run blocker which might help his progress.

Fair point. The FO thought Rolando was young enough to where he could turn it around though.

I wasn't a huge fan of the John Simon draft (I've stated that a couple times already), but if there is one positive to draw from it, it's that this pick made Rolando more expandable.

I dont see the connection? Simon is a DE/OLB. Rolando plays ILB.

I'm not sure either but I would like it if Brown & McClellan were good enough to rid us of The McClains.

Back on topic. What do you all think about McKinnie's trip to Miami going well? I'd like to get him back for at least one more year so a younger guy could learn under him, but if not, we gotta figure something out.

Nevermind. Brainfart. :)

He worked out for the Chargers as well.

New update from rotoworld:

The Ravens "continue to talk" to free agent LT Bryant McKinnie.
The sides have been in constant contact, but don't appear close to a deal. McKinnie is visiting the Dolphins and Chargers this week, but isn't considered overly likely to sign with either club. As is the case with all unsigned veteran free agents, the sooner McKinnie caves, the more he's likely to make. Apr 30 - 3:52 PM

I dont think Miami will sign him, maybe they brought him in as a bargaining chip. I think McKinnie is more likely to sign in SD than Miami.

Despite Monday's free-agent visit, the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero finds it "hard to believe" the Dolphins have genuine interest in Bryant McKinnie.

Get Gaither out of here, I don't even want to think about him suiting up in purple and black again.

He is probably the most talented LT on the market, just needs to motivated

USA Today's Mike Garafolo reports free agent OT Demetress Bell would be a fallback option for the Ravens if they failed to re-sign Bryant McKinnie

Looks like it will be either Bryant McKinnie or Bell

If Bell can stay healthy, he actually wouldn't be a terrible option.

Lol. McKinnie VS. Gaither: the battle for the Harbaugh doghouse.

What doghouse? When I had mentioned said doghouse in the regular season last year, everyone said i was a conspiracy theorist lol

Under Eagles OL coach Howard Mudd, LT Demetress Bell explained that he's learning a "completely new" blocking technique from what the Bills taught.

Most offensive line coaches teach the "vertical step," in which a tackle steps backward to cut off the pass rusher. Mudd "abhors" the vertical step, and teaches linemen to "attack." "It's aggressive," Bell said of Mudd's scheme. "It's nothing like I've been taught my first four years in the league. It's totally opposite. ... But I like it. I think it works into my favor, being athletic."

Could be a reason why he struggled last year. Who knows!

Lol. I used that as a joke because both guys are seemingly anti-Harbaugh. There very well may be one, though. It is a little strange for sure.

I think for sure there is. Every coach has guys who they feel go against what they are trying to accomplish as head coaches.

If we're serious about moving KO to LT then I would trade for Pat's backup RT Marcus Cannon, they don't realize they have a Carl Nicks clone on their squad.

I think it's more true for some players than others. Guys like McAlister (the original doghouse), McGahee and yes McKinnie - although he pissed off the whole organization. Those players i can see some merit.

But I've seen accusations that Heap, Doss, Barnes, Gaither, etc being in it. Naw. Harbaugh would have loved to start Gaither but that slub had other issues

Good point. He worked his way out and got a lot of playing time in 2011 despite dealing with injuries. He's actually a Harbaugh-doghouse success story

Don't you mean success story despite being in the doghouse? he was always better than McClain.

Back on topic, does anyone buy KO as LT?

He was a different/better player when he re-emerged. Came a long way from showboating in a preseason game and reportedly slacking in practices.

I don't want KO at tackle. He deserves to stay at guard with how he played. I hope we learned something with Yanda. Good tackle, great guard.

Yeah, I want him to stay at guard. Give him some continuity there so he can become our Marshal Yanda clone on the left.

I disagree with Barnes. I think he was 100% on Harbs crap list.

yea it's hard to imagine not finding a way to hold on to Barnes considering all of the pass rushers that we have on our squad this year.

I just don't think he was all that great. He's been floating around the league with similar production to what he did here (albeit one good year in 2011).
