LT Position Resolved ?

302 posts in this topic

I must admit I feel Osemele should stay at LG, he looked like a future Pro-Bowler at LG. Last year at RT he was beaten some by edge rushers.

Then only positive thing I can say is if the decision becomes should KO play LT or Oher again, well KO step in there.

The current candidates for LT are Oher, KO and Wagner. I have the feeling at this point, that the Ravens are just trying to play this season out and see what happens. Same with the WRs.

Do you really think this is acceptable with a MVP Super Bowl QB who just proved to the world that if you give him just a little extra time he will carve up the best defenses the NFL has to offer? I don't.

KO was getting beat a LOT by edge rushers!

I think we didn't address LT during the first 4 rounds because we just had better players available and other needs to satisfy.

Wagner, Reid, Harewood, Cornell, Mims - one of them should step up into the LT spot. The best of that group can't be much worse than McKinnie. Just like Oher shouldn't move from RT, I think KO shouldn't move from guard. At least keep the line from being average across the board.

Really ? You don't think there was a difference in pass protection when they inserted McKinnie at LT and Osemele at LG?????

Mims is interesting.  Considering his length.

Oh, I don't disagree at all that's why we didn't draft a left tackle. I don't think we saw anyone who was better than the guys we got in those respective rounds. I would be highly surprised if Wagner starts at LT. I see him as pure depth this year.

We might sign a guy like Starks or maybe another vet gets cut like Bryant.

Flacco is to blame for that. He is a top 5 QB in this league, which is why the Ravens end up among last 5 teams in draft every year.

Look, I would love Joe to get a great Oline and star receivers the way Matt Ryan does and watch him blow every critic away with his stat sheet, but in the end the biggest value of Joe Flacco to this team is, that he can win even with an average passing offense. We will have to make do with what we got.

Hopefully we get the LT position resolved so Joe isn't in traction after each game .I love Ozzie

but I'm concerned particularly since  Harbaugh has a clear dislike for Mckinnie.

Yeah i hear ya but I would hate to see him get hurt with slow footed Osemele at LT!

Amen. If Flacco gets hurt, we will be picking in the top 10 of next years draft.

I'm actually secretly hoping for a top 10 pick and an LT.  I don't want the team to lose, but we're do for a high pick.

It's easier to get excited about top 10 prospects, but I prefer the mundanity of continued success. Plus, I don't want Flacco to miss a season, just so we can draft high.

When you make an  big monetary investment in a player who has clearly become a top 5 QB in the NFL you better protect

his blind side ! Oher can't do it, Osemele can't do it at least from what I saw last year so who's gonna do it? Mckinnie

did it during the playoff run but during the regular season it was frankly a disaster.

I realize there was no way we were going to get a top LT in the draft picking last in the first round but we better take care of

the LT position or we will go nowhere this upcoming season . Maybe this Wisconsin boy can step in right away ! I hope this is not wishful thinking.

Would you trade a 1 for monroe/albert?

I'd give them a two and oher at least.

Per Rotoworld:

USA Today's Mike Garafolo reports free agent OT Demetress Bell would be a fallback option for the Ravens if they failed to re-sign Bryant McKinnie.

It's the first we've heard of Bell since his release from the Eagles in early February. Bell was a total dud his lone season in the City of Brotherly Love, playing just 462 snaps while grading out as a bottom-three tackle in Pro Football Focus' ratings. He'd be little more than a reserve in Baltimore.

I'm trying to be nice here lol, I'll say it like this while KO was beaten quite a bit, it was still Oher that he me banging my head into the wall, along with Cam Camerons idiotic play calling that caused subpar pass protectors to block for deep routes to develop on every play.

A dog with fleas. Are we not gonna protect the Super Bowl MVP with a LT close to the caliber of his ability?

Good luck finding one.

Would I? Yes, I would. I have red forehead from facepalming whenever Oher committed yet another false start. Oher is not suited for the LT position. He is a great Olineman, imho, just not a great LT.

However, I don't think that trade will happen. Doesn't fit the Ravens MO. Great thinking though.

Not hoping for that, but Top 10 pick next year means a shot at a couple of great scenarios.

1. Draft DE J.Clowney ( this would have to be pick 1 or 2 of course )
2. Draft top OT Jake Matthews Texas A&M or C.Kouandjo Alabama
3. Trade pick to a team that wants Teddy Bridgewater or J.Manzel
4. Pick WR Marquise Lee or Sammy Watkins

Joe Flacco throwing to Marqise Lee = Heaven.

you guys are mental to even mention us to pick in the top ten - geesh and you call yourselves fans; i'd much rather have winning seasons 'till we play the game on the moon than fantasize for players like that - a team plays the game, not the individual

We need to bring somebody in. Kelechi played extremely well at the LG position. We are still searching for the LT of the future after Jared Gaither let us down. Is McKinnie enough to be a stop gap for a full season? Either way we need to find the guy there long term.

We need to get that position set so Joe can stay up right and with plenty of time. The o-line from the playoffs is the bar to work towards. Juan Castillo is a very good OL coach - hopefully he can make something happen.

I know it doesn't... it just feels different when talking about the LT.  A 2nd for an LT is a good pick.  What's the deadline for the chiefs to trade him, maybe we can sweat them out?

Jared Gaither hardly let us down... he was a 5th round pick.

It's not like anyone is hoping for a top 10 pick, it was simply mentioned ( and is a fact ) that with Flacco having been paid as the Franchise QB he needs to have a LT to protect him and not constantly put the Oher's of the world there, Flacco is a tough guy, but injuries do happen, and not having the blindside protected is basically inviting some unforeseen hit to cause something.
