Wide Receivers

I'm not too worried about our current WR situation.

Joe uses Pitta & Rice so much that it makes having a "true #1 WR" (hate saying that) not as important. It would be very nice to have one, but I don't think it's a huge need.

Torrey should keep improving and I think he'll be borderline 1/2 next year. He's still improving on polishing his route tree and knowing how hard he works, and the passion he has, I'm confident he'll get there.

I think we have a ton of talented young receivers. They didn't see the field much last year but I blame that on the old OC. I'm confident (just like the FO is) that we're set at WR with the current group. I think our offense will be deadly, and adding a top WR would be more then a luxury pick then need. We got deep threats, we got guys who can work the middle, we got guys who can catch out the backfield, what's the problem?

We weren't gonna get anyone better then our current guys after round 2 unless we traded up in round 3. I rather have Brown & Elam then any WR in this draft not named Tavon.

I think Deonte Thompson becomes the #2 opposite Smith.

He had a ton of trouble catching balls at Florida, he will have needed to improve a lot to pull that off.

Patton was available in round three and a lot of people around here seem to be high on him.

I like Brandon Williams for the record, I'm just saying.

It's true. The Ravens never really had star WRs the way the Falcons do for example. I guess Ozzie is okay with paying Flacco 120 million and not have him produce big numbers.

I'm fine with that as well as long as the Ws keep coming.

No Love for Jacoby Jones :(

Jacoby is an elite special teamer but only a #3 receiver. Houston tried forcing him as a #2 and we all saw that didn't work out.

In my opinion, I thought Torrey Smith was better than Anquan Boldin. Some will agree with me, some will disagree with me. I have always like Torrey Smith and I see him as our #1 receiver. Jacoby can improve a lot, he really needs to work on his ability to catch and not drop the ball. Other than that I don't see much he needs to work on. We need somebody to step up as #2 next to Torrey. Streeter needs to do this. He needs to work on his ball handling. If he can do that we will see him a lot.

Me too. I really like Brandon Williams! It was a great pick in my opinion.

All the guy did in the pre season was catch balls, regardless of what he did in college he improved.

Me too. That's actually a tough one to think about. I like them both alot but I would've probably preferred Patton over Williams. I think we could've traded up though in round 4 if Ozzie was in love with him

I agree 100%. There was a reason Torrey was double teamed all the time, and that teams put their top corner on Torrey. He's not a true #1 either but he's closer to being one than Boldin.

I think our guys should really push Tommy Streeter because honestly 6'5 guys who are fast do not come along often and if we can get him production we would have a monster.

If Patton becomes a starter, I feel like Boldin won't even be used at SF which makes me mad. He was great here. I just thought Smith was better. I loved our 3 receivers last year but it's an issue this year. We need a true #2 receiver.

100% agree. If they can get his ball handling under his control and he's able catch, he could be a great receiver. It's what they need to work hard on before the start of the season.

What about David Reed? I don't really know too much about him.

I am actually really interested in seeing his contributions this year. I am optimistic.

He's a player that should have been cut two years ago.  Best case scenario is he winds up on IR, since it seems like Harbs would jump in front of a moving train to save this guy's spot on the roster.

So am I! I know he has been used for kickoff returns so I'm interested how he is as a wide receiver.

His game against Seattle in 2011 was pretty rough, but people forget he was leading the NFL in kickoff return average for a while. He showed some good route running, quickness, and hands in the Bengals game in week 17. Harbaugh said as much.

Like Doss, people want to write him off after 2-3 bad plays. Torrey Smith would've never made it out of the 2011 preseason at that rate.

The fact is there isn't much more to know than he is an electric special teamer with a disturbing habit of fumbling, and he gets hurt ALOT.  That's the problem, I feel like he's spent more time on IR than on the field.  However, in terms of production, he had exactly ZERO catches his first 2 years, then came up with 5 this year, so I suppose that's a step in a positive direction.  It's not like he doesn't have talent, but there have been so, so many receivers I've seen come and go with this team since 1996 that I refuse to believe in a receiver until I see some sustained success.

He's also a good route-runner who has had some injury issues since he entered the league.

I'm really puling for Streeter. I'd love for him to earn his college nickname back, with us. I'm hoping, while he was "IR'd", he worked on his route running. I'm sure he did. I'd also like to see Doss do well. Hopefully, his confidence isn't too shook. I still think he could be that guy to fill the "Boldin" role. Not saying he'll be as good as Boldin or just be able to step in and there be no drop off, but I think with more reps and playing time he can become that reliable guy. I also like Williams, being a ST player will help him out. The WR competition is always fun to watch, this year should be more interesting.

My only real problem with the people spouting, 'Well obviously the FO is comfy with the guys we have, so let's give 'em a shot!,' is that we were also comfy with Clarence Moore, Travis Taylor, Mark Clayton, Demetrius Williams....I haven't even really scratched the surface on how many guys have come in here that the front office has been comfortable with and yet we as fans sit there game after game facepalming.  Doss?  I dunno.  Hopefully with consecutive starts he can bring it.  Deonte?  Heck I'd be happy if he could become our main #3.  David Reed?!  No.  Guy's a good STer and that's about it and everybody knows it.  All the rest?  Pffft.  I know you, 'can't teach size' but I don't have any real hopes for Streeter at all.  Obviously judgement should be somewhat reserved since he hasn't even stepped foot on the field but there's a reason for that, just like there's a reason these other guys we've had for a couple of years haven't truly seen any significant playing time.  I guess what I'm saying is that I don't have a problem with optimism and we'll see but to me WR is our weak point and having been a Ravens fan from day one, that's ALWAYS been our problem.  I'm so sick and tired of having a weak receiving corps and having to hope beyond hope that Clayton actually holds onto this one, our fresh from free agency cheap stopgap can actually still get it done because they're pretty much over the hill which is why we got them cheap or waiting for our fourth round draft pick to FINALLY turn on the lights before we have to cut him and draft the same exact guy next draft.  Bitter rlh445 is bitter .

To be honest I like Deonte more then Doss and Laquan. Deonte has that game breaking speed and can actually make some plays after the catch.  When asked about the wr's in a previous video Ozzie's first name he mentioned was Deonte, so i think that's a guy the coaching staff is really high on going into this season. I wanted Patton but I think Deonte has a chance to get reps with the 1st team and prove he's our guy in the slot.

Tommy Streeter seems like he has all the talent in the world but  haven't seen that fire from him yet. I hope he can show how much he's grown as a player the next time we see him. If I could pick any of our wr's to pan out it would obviously be "the Artist formerly known as" Touchdown Tommy

Not confident in our WR corps at all. Boldin was the difference maker in the playoffs. Can't see Joe being nearly as effective without him.

Wish we got Allen or Rodgers.  Though, seeing as Rodgers went to the Bills, it's obvious no teams wanted him at all.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/04/27/buffalo-bills-darick-rogers-nfl-draft/2118099/

See the part where it says "But Rogers was suspended before the start of this past season and later admitted it was due to repeatedly failing drug tests. (He was also arrested in 2010 and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following a brawl in a Knoxville bar. The charges were later dropped when Rogers completed 16 hours of community service.)"

Share that with all the "Ravens Fans" who are Rolondo McClain haters
