Does it have to be a player? Can't an assistant/coach/machine kick off, etc. (for ST practice)?

That's true ti could be, but I don't know of many coaches who could do a reasonable job of punting or kicking off lol

Still I'm sure they could use a machine to duplicate the kicks as well.

I know at my college, they use a machine to simulate punts and kick offs. In high school, my coach punted and kicked on occasion. I'm sure we have the coaches to do that. If not, I'm sure we have the funds to buy a kick simulator machine.

Wanted to do a run down and evaluate each UDFAs chances of making the roster, in my opinion.

QB:

1. Dayne Crist - Camp arm that may have a shot at the PS.

WR:

1. Marlon Brown - A big bodied receiver that has potential, but will either end up cut or on IR.

2. Rashaad Cater - Camp body.

3. Omarius Hines - Has some potential, but likely another camp body.

4. Gerrard Sheppard - Another likely camp body.

TE:

1. Matt Furstenburg - The first real chance at a roster spot.  We have no 3rd TE.  It depends on whether on not they think Juszczyk can handle that role or if they need a true TE.

OL:

1. Jordan Devey - In a deep battle, so likely a PS candidate.  He's 25, which is concerning for a rookie.

2. Rogers Gaines - Didn't give up a sack his senior year.  Huge potential, but in a really deep battle.  PS or "IR."

3. Joe Unga - He's 26, so he either makes it or doesn't.  I'll say he doesn't and he's cut.

DL:

1. Will Pericak - Great player, but in a very deep battle.  Has a chance, but likely to head to the PS.

2. Cody Larsen - Camp body.

LB:

1. Brandon Copeland - Can play ILB, OLB, and DE.  Another guy that has a real shot.  If not, I fully expect us to stash him somehow.

2. Meshak Williams - A good college player, but not likely to make it.  A good PS candidate.

CB:

1. Moe Lee - Likely a camp body.  Maybe a PS candidate.

S:

1. Brynden Trawick - Camp body.

2. Gary Walker - Playmaking safety, but behind Omar Brown and Anthony Levine.  PS candidate.

Especially when the roster spot was open. We've been stuck at 88 for weeks.

I didn't want to quote that behemoth of a post lol.

Anyway, I'll address your opinions here.

I agree on QB and WR completely. I think Furstenburg makes this team. He would have to look awful to not make it in my opinion. I agree regarding the offensive line. It will be tough to make our deep offensive line. The age doesn't concern me much because offensive line is a position where guys can do well as older players. Age isn't much of a big deal.

I remember reading that we have Pericak a huge signing bonus of 40k I believe. Considering their limited pay for UDFAs that would be really surprising if they have him that and without them thinking he has a very good chance of making the team. It obviously doesn't mean he will but I just would be surprised.

I think Copeland makes this team. I agree Meshak will probably go on PS. Moe Lee is very talented. Don't sleep on him. I think his floor is the PS.

Walker had the best shot. Probably ends up PS.

I think Furstenburg makes it as well.  He's the most likely in my opinion.  I think one or two of the OL stick around, with Gaines being the top priority, followed by Devey.

We gave Pericak $13,500, so you're just a little off lol.  I really like him, but he's in competition at arguably our deepest position.  I really feel like he was a pick up for the future in the event Art Jones leaves.  I think we'll find a way to keep him around, but I'm not sure it's going to be on the active roster off the bat.  Copeland is in a tricky situation.  I think he finds a way to make it though.  Meshak, Lee, and Walker all seem like PS guys. I like Lee, but he's another one of those guys that falls victim to depth.

It's a shame that the best players (in my opinion) that we picked up are all stuck in our deepest positions.  A lot of talent but not enough spots.

I actually like this. Give them a huge competition and let the best men play.

Lol, the competition sure is just that--huge. It's a mud fight, haha. I guess that's the big deal, though: these UDFAs feel like they finally have their shot to make it.

I'd like to start trading some running backs if we could. We have ridiculous talent rotting on our practice squad/IR list. Lol.

the UDFA just had surgery and recuperating - he'll be cut most probably when roster goes down to 53

Antoine McClain is probably going on IR or getting cut.

As for trading a RB that was a joke. Lol. I doubt anyone will trade for one of our RB when they can probably get one when we cut them.

As for Wagner, I'm not sure anyone should write off his future position. He's an offensive lineman. He could potentially play whatever position we deem him capitalist. While he looks like a guard or right tackle right now there is no telling what happens with Castillo here. Right now he's just depth.

You can have conversations with yourself and make people think some said something they didn't really say.
