It's just hard for Rainey to get on the field. Which is a testament to Allen's excellent special team play.

I agree. Rainey's size just keeps him from contributing. He can return punts, but nothing else on ST duty. We already have plenty of guys that can return punts so he's not really needed there. He won't play RB since he's basically another Ray Rice. Why use Rainey when he have Rice? I really like Rainey, but I can't see how we can justify giving him a spot unless Rice is hurt.

Yeah, Allen's special teams contributions gave him that 3rd RB spot. I wonder if we'd consider carrying 4 RBs, now that we have an OC who could find ways to allow them all to make plays.

The thing is Rainey is a lot like Rice, and while that makes him good he just wouldn't see the field over Ray.  He's too good not to play though, I'd love for him to stay a Raven, but he's going to get picked up off waivers. Kid has a future in the NFL.

That's true, but even Rice needs a break every now and then. I think having a RB who can come in and do the same kind of thing Rice does could be an asset. Obviously Pierce can come in and pick up yardage on the ground, but Rainey could come in and make a play on a screen in the same way Rice would. Rainey wouldn't bring anything different to the table, but maybe the fact that he plays very similar to Rice could prove useful.

Right, but you can only take rice out so much.  Rainey might see 5 plays a game.  As opposed to all the special teams plays from Allen of the play from Pierce.

I don't know the plan, but if we use Rice as a receiver more, then I think we could see Rainey make the roster.

If anyone is a receiver it's rainey.  They moved him out more in college.

Last night we signed Arthur Brown's Kansas State teammate Meshak Williams.

http://jugofsnyder.com/2013/04/30/meshak-williams-picked-up-by-baltimore-ravens/

Williams, expected by several prognosticators to be drafted over the weekend, was surprisingly still available on Monday. That evening the first team all-Big 12 selection signed a free agent contract with Baltimore to pursue a gig with the defending Super Bowl champions.

The Ravens are an excellent landing spot for Williams. Although he played the defensive end position in college, his size and speed lend themselves to playing outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense in the NFL (he’s not quite big enough to remain on the line). His tenaciousness and passion also give him a leg up on securing a roster spot.

WHOA! THAT is AWESOME! I know Arnie will be as thrilled as I am right now!

Meshak really stood out to me on film when I was watching Brown. I REALLY like this signing a lot.

Me too. I can't believe he wasn't signed during the initial rush on UDFAs though. Regardless, I'm really happy we scooped him up.

We're going to have some really, really tough cuts.

I'll say. But whoever makes the team will be pretty darn good, in that case.

I'm going to throw my extremely biased vote in for Furstenburg. He had a great combine but like it's been said the QB situation over at MD was a joke.  Even if he is a block first guy, hope the Ravens find a place for him.

I was asked to post this to discuss only the UDFA signed or supposedly signed by the Baltimore Ravens. No other UDFAs are to be discussed in this thread. Thanks.

The List

OL Jordan Devey, Memphis

DL Will Pericak, Colorado

WR Gerrard Shepard, Towson

TE Murphy Holloway, Ole Miss

OL Roger Gaines, Tennessee State

SS Brynden Trawick, Troy

DE/OLB Brandon Copeland, U-Penn

RB Ray Holley, La-Tech

QB Trent Steelman, Army

WR Omarius Hines, Florida

DB Moe Lee, Utah

OG Steve DeMilio, Gardner-Webb

OL Jeff Braun, WVU

TE Matt Furstenburg, Maryland

QB Nate Stanley, Southeast Louisiana

TE Chris Harris, Elon

CB Jose Cheeseborough, FIU

Out of all them I personally think from film that Roger Gaines,Brandon Copeland and Moe Lee will make the team

Here's the official list of those signed. They had 13 open spots (to get to the max of 90) and released Miller, so they had room for 14. All other names that have been out there must only be here on a tryout basis. Of course, by the end of the weekend, several of those listed below may be released in favor of a tryout guy who showed well over the weekend.

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 20m (3/3) Ravens have also signed UDFAs: QB Nathan Stanley, S Brynden Trawick and T Joe Unga.

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 21m (2/3) T Rogers Gaines, WR Omarius Hines, RB Ray Holley, TE Murphy Holloway, DE Will Pericak, WR Gerrard Sheppard (con't)

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 22m Ravens have officially signed 14 UDFAs: G Jeff Braun, CB Jose Cheeseborough, LB Brandon Copeland, T Jordan Devey, TE Matt Furstenburg(con't)

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 24m Ravens have waived RB Lonyae Miller, who spent time on last year's practice squad and was re-signed in February

Interesting that Trent Steelman, Moe Lee, and Meshak Williams aren't on the list.  I was actually looking forward to seeing all 3.  Hopefully they get a shot at some point.

My guess is they are try-out guys. I think they very well could make it to camp. One thing to remember that try-out guys have made it to camp and beyond. See Justin Tucker.

Oh yeah definitely.  Just found it interesting that all three had been reported to have actually agreed to a deal.  Especially when I had heard that Unga, Cheeseborough, and Stanley were all tryout players.

I just heard Roger Gaines didn't give up a sack the entire year last year. That's really impressive even with the level of competition.

I didn't know who Joe JJ Unga was. Looked him up. I won't say too much, but I'll let the video do the talking:

6'6", 320lbs, 3 Cone: 7.84, 40yrd Dash: 5.22, Bench: 19, Short Shuttle: 4.88, Vertical Jump: 28 1/2, Broad Jump: 8'10"
