Ravens only UDFA's discussions

There's so much talent this year it's hard for any of these guys to make the roster. I have no idea how it's gonna be trimmed down with guys like Nigel Carr and Adrien Hamilton still around. Only UDFA I think makes the roster will be Furstenburg. The practice squad will probably be filled with guys from last year and/or late round picks.

If Robert Gaines somehow ends up starting as a LT, I will +1 every post Brandon22 makes. He was the first person who even mentioned him.

If Dion Simms becomes the league's best TE I will ban myself for a week.

This guy Ray Holley reminds me of Danny Woodhead. I'm eager to see what he brings in training camp and the preseason, I could see his rushing and receiving abilities being put to good use in Caldwell's offense.

This is what people say every year, but then somehow one or two UDFA impress enough to make the team that we never saw coming.

Ha. Hopefully your right. I like when a homegrown Ravens UDFA makes it.

OL Roger Gaines, Tennessee State is my favorite UFA. I think he'll shock alot of people in the preseason playing T. I think at best he makes the roster as a backup and plays spot duty at T or as an extra lineman. I think realistically we put him on our practice squad for the year and the following year you see the jump to either LT or RT depending on what we do with Oher next year.

If Furstenburg makes the team as our 3rd TE and blocking TE. I think that means the end of Leach. Juice is an upgrade at receiver and running than Leach, Leach is the better blocker. If Juice can do efficient in the preseason at blocking and Furstenburg does good at blocking in the preseason. Juice will be our FB and Furstenburg our 3rd TE blocking specialist. I'd love to keep both Leach and Juice. If Juice is more efficient than Furstenburg at blocking and receiving, I believe we'll use Juice as our 3rd TE for blocking and receiving as well as learn behind Leach.

Im eager to see both Holley and Bobby Rainey in the preseason. RBs who are a weapon as both a rusher and a receiver are invaluable. I hope at least one of them makes the roster.

Yeah too bad we haven't had a RB that can do that these past few years, can you imagine what Flacco could do if he had a RB who could actually catch the ball?!?!

Note: Massive amounts of sarcasm exisit in this post, if you missed it check with your local doctor to have your eyesight checked.

I'd like to start trading some running backs if we could. We have ridiculous talent rotting on our practice squad/IR list. Lol.

i'm waiting to see who we cut from the players that we already got to make room for this year's udfa's - there's about 80 players on the current roster and we've been linked with more than 10 new prospects - is it this thursday for the rookie camp to get under way?

I agree. Our 5 th string running back would start at least rotationaly for 10 plus teams. Maybe we can trade one to the giants or packers for a wideout.

Did I say we don't have a RB who can catch the ball? No I didn't.

My point is the talents of RBs who can run and catch are very valuable. Thus, I'd like to add the talents of Holley and/or Rainey to the talents of Rice and Pierce.

I don't disagree with you, I was more highlighting the fact that the way you were raving about Rainey and Holley was like their talents were some new revelation.

Part of the reason Pierce was so effective last year was because he was different from what Rice brought to the table as a runner. I'm not saying that Rainey or Holley won't make the roster, but if they did they basically would only be there as a backup if Rice was injured because they would play the same role in the offense.

If any of you are U of Maryland you should be very excited about this!

I wanted Da'Rick Rodgers too but he just went to the bills.

Very happy with this since I'm at UMD. Someone other than Torrey Smith in football (recently) to make me proud of being a Terp. Good hands and good at blocking. Also like Cheeseborough. Not only does he have an awesome name in which we could chant "Cheeeeeese!" (lol) but he's also a former teammate of Cyprien.

Really interested to see what becomes of Steelman.  Hopefully we can stash him on the PS for the year and develop him.  I love his intangibles.

No one is raving about Holley and Rainey I'm merely eager to see them in the preseason. I like their skill sets, that's all.

The reason Pierce was so effective last year is because he's a very good RB, a better pure runner than Rice even. And obviously Holley and Rainey would only be a backup, the #1 and #2 RB spots are all but locked down at this point. Still, now that we have a competent OC, I could see other players being used in creative ways that they weren't used with Cam around. You can never have too many offensive weapons/playmakers.

He interests me too. I watched him in the Senior Bowl just last night while scouting my man Devey.

One thing we last with Boldin was a #3 QB. People tend to forget he was our third string behind Joe & Tyrod.

After seen highlights of Holley & Copland i like their chances of being ravens sooner or later . OL Gaines plays with nasty streak. This udfas class might turn out to b the best, and this is not the full list. Just hope we signed Bruce Taylor from VT that guy was tackling machine & good blitzer

It's just hard for Rainey to get on the field.  Which is a testament to Allen's excellent special team play.
