Welcome, Brandon Williams!

Don't know where this "hard worker" Oher idea got started. I rewatch every game and rewind every single play 5x to watch each guy on the line. Oher is consistently a low effort player, both run blocking and pass blocking. He puts his hands on a guy and does the bare minimum then disengages. When he gets beat, he doesn't hustle to reblock the guy, just stands around. I have no vendetta against him, I love all our players by default, it's just something I notice over and over again rewatching games.

As for Brandon Williams, love the pick already. I loved the Canty pickup, and this guy has similar ability in both the pass and run games. Art Jones has also come along in that regard;linemen who are both stout against the run and able to create pressure are so rare. Art Jones, Canty, Ngata, Brandon Williams (hopefully) give us four of them, with a potential fifth if McPhee ever expands his game.

I'm referring to his supposed work habits I've heard John say he has. I don't watch Oher practice except at minicamp. He is also supposedly always here for OTAs. Then again, that's what the coaches say about him. He definitely doesn't look great on the field.

I just remember this one day when I went to TC @ McDaniel's.  It was going into Oher's second season, and he just came across as disinterested to me.  He just sort of stood around for most of the day while all the other players seemed to have energy and pushed hard.  It really stood out to me, and I haven't been able to shake the thought.  Perhaps he was having a bad day.

I miss that fire he possessed in his rookie year.

Nice observation. I was there his rookie year. I remember how good he looked. You are right. I didn't go to camp in 10 or 11 but I went in 12.I didn't see him disinterested then but admittedly I want watching him, lol

It does say on rotoworld that one team worked Brandon Williams out on offense, for what it's worth haha.

He played on offense at Missouri Southern sometimes too.  That's the instigation of the rumor.

He's got shorter arms though, so he's going to need good technique to make up for that.

That makes a lot more sense of it. After thinking about it, though, I honestly think he will be used on offence, albeit situationally. We were horrible on 4th and short downs last season and I think the idea of both this guy and Vonta Leach running at you followed by a Bernard Pierce ready to lunge would strike fear into the hearts of most d-linemen.

Another great article of Yahoo about Brandon who has great personality, work ethics and true blue collar attitude.

Ozzie just found another Gem in the rug and this one might turn out to be the best.......

He was generating a lot of interior pressure as well. He was absolutely impressive. 100% agreed. He looked like a real terror to deal with in the middle for those guards & centers.

I wonder what would happen if you moved him out a bit to End would he have the speed and be a freeny type?

freeney wouldn't be an end in our system

He means a speed rusher which is what Freeney was, he's not saying Freeney would be an end in our system assuming I read that correctly.

he said move him to end and be a freeney type as in, a speed rusher rushing the passer. Our ends wouldn't be speed rushers rushing the passer, that's my point. He wouldn't have the same role as freeney, so no he wouldn't be a freeney type.

Oh, my bad I thought you thought he was actually talking about bringing Freeney himself in to play DE rather than saying that a speed rusher wouldn't work in our system but I gotcha now.

I was so high on him I mocked him to us in the 2nd.  My top two picks were Brown and Williams, you can imagine how excited I was when we got Elam, Brown and Williams.  It's like we had 2 firsts and a second.

Same here. I thought he could be gone before our original 2nd round pick. I was thrilled we drafted those three guys. Thrilled.

Yeah, our first three picks were like a realistic wishlist.

lol more like unrealistic. I thought Brown would make it to our 1st but not further. I felt Elam would be gone before our pick or drop. You already know about Williams. Lol. I'm beyond happy with our first three. I love all our picks. This is one of the best drafts in years.
