Welcome to Baltimore, Arthur Brown

Lol easy there champ.

If by that you mean an undersized LB coming out of college and a guy who has a non stop motor... Then yes, I agree.

hes definitely not ray lewis.  however, he has a lot of skills ray lewis had when he came into the league.  he is a 3 down linebacker with great coverage ability.  he can go sideline to sideline to make plays.  he can shed blocks and stop the run.  and he is fast with great conditioning and can stay on the field for every snap

im not saying hes ray lewis.  he just reminds me of ray when he came out of college.  same type of player

As a K-State fan and season ticket holder, I got the privilege of watching Arthur Brown both years he was at K-State. Arthur and his brother Bryce were big names coming out of high school, but chose to leave the state of Kansas and play elsewhere. You can imagine our excitement when both brothers announced they were coming back to play together at K-State. They were complete opposites. Bryce was somewhat of a prima donna, with off field issues that kept him from ever really seeing the field. Arthur made up for his brother's off field issues. He is the most quiet, humble, hard-working player that I've ever had the chance to watch. Arthur has mastered the art of tackling, whether it be in the open field or running through blockers. He flies all over the field and makes plays when they're needed. Whatever he lacks in size, he makes up for with physicality, work ethic, and heart. Arthur has game speed. I specifically remember one game where Arthur sprinted across the field and ran down RG3 one-on-one to force a punt. Baltimore is getting a great player and person with this pick. What a steal.

He has most of Ray Lewis' strengths coming out of college, but I'd say he's slower than when Ray first came out. So, he's not Ray Lewis. Clearly. Good prospect, though. I mean, let's say Ray had 16 strengths coming out of college, Arthur Brown would have about 10 of them. Very similar as a prospect as Ray Lewis was back in 1996. Mind you, Brown had that injury that kept him out of the combine and probably slowed him down during his pro day to a 4.67...Ray ran a 4.52

I'd actually love to see a Ray Lewis 1996 draft profile.

But, what I really wanted to say is it isn't just that Brown has similar strengths to 96' Ray Lewis...he also has similar weaknesses. The same knocks on being undersized, same criticism that he can't take on blockers.

Thank you for coming here. This was a nice read!

Arthur as a prospect has the willingness to take on blockers that Ray never really did, Arts only real problem is occasional overaggressiveness in pursuit angles.

Personally I hope Arthur Brown surpasses Ray Lewis, like a father would hope his son to surpass him.

Seen someone say about a nickname, his is the judge.

Yes, Arthur is "The Judge." Would be nice for the Ravens to fill another void caused by the departure of Boldin and draft fellow wildcat Chris Harper, a big physical receiver with soft hands.

I don't know anything about him, I just knew that the second we traded up to get him this entire board would collectively squeal with joy lol.

What? Ray didn't take on blocker but Brown can ? Brown gets swallowed up by lineman. Not saying Brown isn't a good player but willingness doesn't mean he's good at it... because he's NOT.

only complaint i have about him, really is his lack of "rah-rah" antics when he makes good plays, he absolutely does NOTHING after he makes a play, like barry sanders type dullness. sure its probably a weird complaint but after watching ray for 17 years (i didnt watch football before the ravens came) all i know is having a MLB that shows his intensity each and every play. i just hope he gets more intense in the nfl, i love to watch my MLB play the intimidator, and every time he makes a tackle he likes to let that offense know if they come his way they gotta deal with him in the worst way. maybe he gets excited to be in the nfl and he just rages after every play lol

Don't worry Elam will handle it. He's an enforcer that just oozes swagger and intensity.

For those that haven't seen it yet, I thoroughly recommend giving this a watch:

It's Arthur Brown vs RG3's Baylor. He managed to intercept Griffin to put K-State in go-ahead FG range, and I just love that final drive. He sniffed Griffin rolling out of the pocket, and came in and belted him. When his teammates came in to congratulate him, he kept running back to the line of scrimmage - I thought he still looked pretty intense though.

Joaks01, what was the final score for that game?

Brown goes nuts from 3:00 onward... that's some beautiful ILB play.

Brown's closing speed in this video is out of control, like flat out, out of control.

I'm loving Browns play just from watching this one game vs Baylor. He has speed, especially great closing speed.

Just wish he didn't take such aggressive angles. He missed a few tackles at the LOS because his angle was too aggressive or he forgot to break down and make a good, clean tackle.

Doesn't that mean high motor?

Anyway, this is awesome.

My dad won't shut up about us not taking Teo though

Yea seemed to be possibly because of who they were playing? So much read option... Perhaps he was trying to break it up and was going too fast

Obviously idk haven't watched any tape on him

Show him that Baylor clip or the West Virginia one - in that game he was an important part of keeping a damned potent WV offence to like 7 points.

His angles can be a little shaky, and that shows up in the 2012 Baylor game (he wasn't nearly as good in that one as 2011), and he can get pushed around a bit by bigger linemen, but I'm really happy with the tape I've seen and I agree with Grim that he's probably the guy we needed to re-charge our defence. He should go a long way to solving a lot of problems we had last season.
