Culpepper A Disappointment.

7 posts in this topic

I'm not sure if it is his O-line, or his receivers not holding onto the ball after getting their hands on it. It seems to me that it may be both, between him rolling out of the pocket when not necessary, or making throw's off of his back foot when he has time to make accurate passes. OR it could be that their 0-12, making Culpepper feel as if he has all this weight on his shoulder. After all everyone was expecting for him to improve the Lions, which he did. But only in the Pre-Season, going 4-0. In pre-season they defeated the NYG, CLE, CIN, and BUF. Now they have lossed to ATL, GB, SF, CHI, MIN, HOU, WASH, CHI(again), JAX, CAR, TAMPA, and TENN. They still have to face the Vikings once more, the Colts, Saints AND the Pack..... IF they do even win a game this season, i think it'll be against the Vikings. Other than that, they have no chance.

Anyway, what do you all think about Culpepper and the Lions?

first of all he's only played 4 games with the Lions (signed way way way back to last month in November), any games before that he has had absolutely nothing to do with it! It's hard to absorb the playbook in so little time its barely even been a month. Well maybe it's not that hard to memorize the Lions 5 page playbook, but it's hard to do it with a bunch of junior varsity players!!

Nothing can save the Lions right now, management is terrible and the coaching is almost as bad! He was signed out of desperation from the Lions, but it's going to take more than one band aid to heal a bunch of wounded lions.

My fault, i made a mistake. Totally slipped my mind.

&& Yeah, true. I cant believe he actually signed with the Lions. Better, more disciplined, clutch team's called him up, asking him to join their team and he just ignored them. He must feel real crappy now.

I think Culpepper picked the Lions only because that was the only team where he had a legitimate shot at starting; he wasn't willing to swallow his pride and sit on a bench as an insurance policy, otherwise, he would've gone to the Steelers after announcing he was coming back out of retirement. It also helps that the Lions are in the NFC North, so he gets the chance next year to face his old team twice.

Culpepper never should've retired to begin with, and if he was smart, he would've gone to the Packers as a back-up since I believe they were also willing to pay him pretty decently to sit all year.

I think firing his agent and representing himself was the worst career move he's ever made; it led to his signing/trade with the Dolphins (and subsequent release) and eventual landing in Oakland, before being out of a job.
Daunte Culpepper looks like he got a little fat and is not in his usual shape he is in.
That's good for the style of play he brings nowadays. He's hard to bring down. And that's a plus for the Lions since their OL is so bad.

I didn't want Dante here in Baltimore, but I must admit he is doing okay in Detriot. Considering what he has to work with and the amount of time he has had with them.
