Pokemon

It was better, but still more of the same vein for me. I always personally hated how the starters were impossible to find/catch in the games. Makes 0 sense why they never tried to incorporate them.

Yeah, that's always been a gripe of mine as well. What's the sense in having a Pokemon that's essentially a legendary without legendary status? Lol. Stupid.

I always thought it would be smarter to let you roam a field and catch a Pokemon one time without another Pokemon. You know. Throw one ball and catch it immediately.

Eh too much of a gimmie. I think they actually did that in yellow tho. I remember one of the game you borrow Oak's pokemon to go and catch one in the wild. Cant remember if it was a pikachu or if Oak's pokemon was the pikachu, but i remember it eventually became your starter.

Anyway I like how EV training gives something for the older players, but ultimately I feel it does take something away from enjoyment the game. However, I'm a purist and believe the enjoyment comes from catching them all. I guess thats part of the reason its such a great game though as there are many ways you can play it.

You can

Catch them all

Train them

Day care center breeding

Enter Contests

There are a lot of good side plots in pokemon to pursue. I just really wish they put that kind of effort into obtaining the legendaries tho.

Yeah, I remember that in Yellow.

I loved the EV training. It's probably my favorite part of the game. I play Pokemon for the strategic aspect, using Pokemon others may not to maximize their strengths. I absolutely loved Primeape for this, because he's the only Pokemon that essentially nerfs Darkrai. He's one example, obviously. There were others, but I absolutely loved EV training, finding the natures to maximize the Pokemon's strengths based off of how I created them, finding creative ways to use their moves & abilities, etc.

I'm really excited for the next games, X & Y. I have some high hopes for these.

On another note, I did enjoy Entei Suicune etc... being found in the wild.

Fully agreed. I still remember accidentally "killing" one of them when I played Silver for the first time and then realizing I hadn't saved for ages.

I can't decide if it was better or worse to have roaming legendary's, really more of a challenge to find (as a legendary should be), but it was sooooooo tedious annoying to find them hahaha.

I'm incredibly excited for X & Y, already pre-ordered X through Target.

Haven't pre-ordered yet but I plan too soon. I'll probably pick up Y since I like the look of its legendary more.

If anybody wants exchange friend codes so we can play together around the time of release, let me know.

Same here. I am not fond of the X legendary.

Well my girlfriend pre-ordered Y, so I figured I might as well pre-order X. I like the Y legendary better as well, not that I use legendary's on my team anyway.

Personally, I think the legendary stigma is way overblown. Not saying this about you. Your comment just reminded me of it. With the way Pokemon is now even legendary Pokemon can lose to non-legendary Pokemon.

True. What I get out of the legendaries are the stories behind them, and the specific quests on how you can obtain them. I'm interested in knowing what will be the stories behind these legendaries and of course; the deal behind the Awakened Mewtwo.

I personally liked to have a combo of both like what they did with Crystal. On one hand youd have a story line to unlock the legendary and then youd have to roam for it.

I agree, although I don't think that legendary's should never be beaten by a mortal Pokemon, if you level them up right (ev's, not rare candies, etc.) I think they should be able to beat them. Also,I really hope they cut down on legendary's in Gen 6 and go back to at most 6 legendary Pokemon per Gen. I think Gen 4 had like 10 legendary's? That is way to much.

I do as well, it just gets frustrating after awhile to catch them. Especially because the 3 beast can flee, they have roar to scare your Pokemon away, and are extremely hard to catch, plus you have to worry about not killing them and saving frequently. I like roaming legendary's a lot better though.

agreed but once you see them you have them in the pokedex so you can manipulate around for them. The repel trick also helps. Finally, if you have a wobuffet or something like that you can prevent them from running away. The only real problem is finding them initially which may or may not ever happen.

You could use that or the move Scary Face, I think, but they'd still use roar to scare your Pokemon away. The roaming legendary's had issues in Gen 2, but still better than regularly finding them in the other games.

I used to play it on my phone all the time after I "grew out of it".

Fact is, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the original 100 or so Pokemon.

Groundoun and (Ray-quaz-ah) were my other two favorites. I might get back into this lol

There was no better feeling then finding a rare candy. Might just of been me lol

Do it! I grew out of Pokemon for awhile, then came back and I love it just as much as I did when I was a kid (and I regretted selling all my old games). Don't play on your phone though, buy the new games or old copies of the older ones, it feels sooooo much better to play on an actual system haha.

I had Pokemon red back in the day, great game. I always go back to play it every now and then. Somehow I end up with the same lineup with some combination of Charizard, Gyrados, Kadabra, Zapdos, and the monkey-Primeape I think..I try each time switching it up but it rarely occurs

It's rumored that at e3 Nintendo will be talking about Pokemon news for 90 minutes. Hopefully they reveal the starters evolution line and some more X & Y news. Maybe even Gen 3 remake? (Fingers crossed)

New type confirmed for X&Y, Fairy type! It is Sylveon's type, as well as secondary types for Marill, Gardevoir, and Clefairy! It will be super effective against dragon (because you've always wanted to beat up Dragonite with a Clefairy, right?). Some new Pokemon were shown with the new video as well. Some gameplay animations were shown and they look amazing, sorta like Pokemon Stadium for the n64. Also, a new mini game within X&Y called Pokemon Amie witch is like nintendogs for your Pokemon! You can use this feature to gain friendship with your Pokemon. I think this is a ton of great news, what do you guys think?

I can't wait for the new Pokemon. I'm not sure how I feel about a "fairy" type but whatever lol.

Yeah, I think it'll take some getting used too, but I am excited!

So far, X and Y is shaping up to be the best (atleast visual, content, and gameplay wise) Pokemon game release to date. And the new Pokemon designs look great as well. Lets hope this will be a complete game that complements the insane looking graphics and move animations!
