Haloti Ngata

I feel like I need to make this post. Currently, we don't have a single defensive lineman in the Pro Bowl. In fact, the only players we have leading are Le'Ron McClain, Ed Reed, and Ray Lewis, with Suggs, Ayanbadejo, and McAlister in the mix.
We need to get Haloti sent to Hawaii, it's a travesty at this point. It only takes a few minutes to fill out a ballot, so please make sure to get your votes in for Haloti every single day. He is a force on this team, and I'd love for him to know that the fanbase is behind him.

The freakin' Redskins fans are stuffing the ballot box and have something like 25 players leading or in the mix in their respective categories. If a site like extremeskins can rally to get every single one of their players in, we can at least get Haloti to Hawaii. This guy is going to be here for a good, long while, and we need to show him that the city of Baltimore will be there.

I'd like to keep this thread bumped up so as to constantly remind people to vote early and to vote often. Literally.

And that's why the fan vote only counts 1/3 towards the selection. The player and coach votes count more.

Combined they do, but the fans, coaches and players are equally weighted individually. Although Haloti will still get support from the guys actually in the NFL, it'd be nice if he got a final push from us fans that made him a starter in Hawaii.

I love Ngata and he deserves everything that comes his way BUT we should be looking to lock him up to along term deal pretty soon and negotiations would probably go a little more in the Ravens favor if he doesnt make the Pro bowl before he signs the new deal. I think Ngata deserves to go and I want to see him go but there is a silver lining if he doesnt. Just food for thought.

Makes perfect sense. But other than the fan vote counting for 1/3 of the Pro Bowl ballot, it's out of our hands -- both the contract negotiations, and Ngata's Pro Bowl bid.

Either way, I'd be happy if Ngata went, but I wouldn't be disappointed if he got snubbed ONLY if he gets a reasonable, long-term deal immediately afterwards.

I think the redskins have a perl/script programmer fan. Anyone else notice a bunch of sun poll "grade the ravens" with about 4,000 F votes for every position.

I am doing my best to promote Mr. Ngata (See Signature)

Just voted for him 5 more times... but let's not forget that the fan vote is only worth 1/3, with the players and coaches making up the final 2/3.

I've been scourging the internet for results as well, but I can't find the results.

I got the information from http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/rav...owl_voting.html . I actually have to edit my post, Chris dropped out of the top five.

Vote. For. Haloti.

I've been relying on secondhand sources like The Sun and SI.com, too.

And yes. Vote. For. Haloti.

And. Vote. For. Koch.

Because it's the right thing to do.

Yeah, during the mascot competition, they got some guy on Extremeskins to figure out how to rig stuff so as to combat some other team who was hacking the vote. Poe still won, though. Although that may play a role in their huge turnout thus far, the actual Redskins front office has been promoting this all season aggressively.

it is my personal theory that we dont have many players in the running on the fan ballot because fans in general look at stats to decied the majority of their choices and our team dose not have any players that really stand out on stat sheets because we have a solid TEAM..... everyone is putting thier best effort forward and the benifits are being spread evenly amongst them as far as stats go. I do feal, however, that the coaches and players will be a little more keen to the indevidual efforts and we will see diffrent results in the end

No they don't. Fans look for big names, not big statistics.

Definitely, many an aging star has stuck to the ballot past their prime.

The only reason Ngata gets overlooked is because he doesn't have big sack numbers, and Ed and Ray command most of the attention. He's had several QB pressures which led to interceptions this year, but that doesn't show up in statistics. ESPN also treats us like a redheaded stepchild, they didn't even show his tip/pick or his earlier interception this season on their brief highlights.

Those two plays in a row a couple weeks ago where he stuffed a run for negative yards then sniffed out a screen in the backfield were an awesome reminder of his athleticism and versatility.

Haynesworth, Pat and Kevin Williams, Casey Hampton, Jamal Williams, Shaun Rogers, etc. get most of the fanfare because they've been established longer, but I'd like to see one of them pick off a pass in the end zone like Haloti did vs. the Texans. He's not only a beast in the trenches, he's like an Ed Reed of the line of scrimmage, always around the ball. Not only big, strong, and fast, but smart.

In a very unglamorous position like defensive tackle/end, most fans only gain awareness of those players through the national media. Not only is Haloti overlooked because of Ray/Ed, but he also has not been in the league for long enough. Haynesworth/Jared Allen have been putting up numbers/gaining respect for years, whereas Mario Williams still is not very well known even though he went number one overall in the draft. A defensive lineman only gains a reputation when his name has been circulating for years.

You're right, however, in that guys like Gregg/Ngata do not get much attention as their role on this team is mainly to free up linebackers.

HALOTI for sure. Voted three times today, sure he'll get in especially when the coach's vote. On the subject of the Pro Bowl though anyone hear that they are gonna move it in 2010 to the week inbetween the AFCC and NFCC game and the Super Bowl?

Yeah, I heard about that. I'm not sure what to think as many of the best players will decline or not be able to attend due to participation in the Super Bowl. After a grueling season, the losers of the AFC/NFC championship games will not want to go to the Pro Bowl, meaning that last year, players from the the Patriots, Packers, Chargers and Giants all would've most likely missed out. The best teams tend to have the most pro bowlers, so this idea kind of ruins things. Actually, on second thought, it won't be because they're tired but rather because they won't be able to make it in time, right?

It's purely a financial move as more people are interested in seeing football during the course of the season than after the Super Bowl has already been played.

Lets not forget the little part we left out that the Pro Bowl would be played in the same venue as the Super Bowl the following week. Two weeks of the NFL in the Superbowl city. "Back the semi trucks up to the dock we need more room for all the cash we're gonna make".

ur preaching to the choir...haloti WILL be in hawaii for the pro bowl...Ravens fans have been ona mission....i, personally vote a few times a day, call friends to urge them to do the same, talk to folks at work, people on the street.....oh, trust me, he IS going.

"sick", could not be a better adjective for what clayton did on the field. i was still in mid "aaww-overthrown-ball" mode when i saw the hook and reel in...NO WAY!!

sick

and that touchdown pass that he threw?

now we will have to marinate in preparation for the skins...my take? when we don't become complacent and keep in mind that" any given sunday...", we end up on top.

personally, i'm hating that it's a night game....and i'm not feeling so good about a win..... ;) B)

Anybody else noticed the way Ngata contributed to the TD pass from to Heap? Check out 1:21

Ngata just blows up the linebacker to make sure the guy doesn't deflect the pass intended for Heap.
