Rolando McClain arrested

616 posts in this topic

You are making the same argument again. I explained why your notion of their averaged sacks are invalid

You ever here the terms fluke or career year?
Stop acting like a child. If you cant handle a conversation over a underachieving football player, then dont respond to what I say instead of saying we make stupid posts and accuaing others of not knowing what they are talking about.

And for future reference, dont quote sources who not only contradict your argument, but contradict themselves.

I don't know what this means.

See, this is the problem. You are too busy blindly defending a guy who we are not sure we even want on our team to listen to what was said.

A lot of people compared DHB to superstar WR with similiar size and skill sets. Those people look foolish now, dont they?
The point was very simple, I am not sure how it escaped you, so I will put it in plainer terms....these draftniks get it very wrong, vert often. Your sources who said those things about McClain, before McClain ever took a snap on the NFL, look just as foolish as the guys who said that about DHB.

No actually, DHB was largely seen as a reach on a major project player who "crazy old Al Davis" selected due to his love for fast players and a speed kills mantra.

Draftniks didn't say DHB was going to be great. In fact, the selection was widely panned.

And I'll say this one final time. Before the draft, the weaknesses analyzed by scouts about Rolando McClain were:

- He would not play well in a 4-3 scheme

- He does not play man coverage well

So, what do the Raiders do in their infinite wisdom? Draft him and play him a 4-3 man coverage scheme.

Another thing, and this is honestly a serious question... Is it illegal to say "F the police"? I mean, even the cops admit he was walking away when he said it.. so he technically was doing what they told him to. I mean, I had no idea that you couldn't cuss at a cop if that's the case. I NEVER would or anything and it was still dumb and immature on McClain's part, but my question is was it illegal??

Any decent defense lawyer will get that charge dropped, as it is not illegal to say "F the police".....stupid, but not illegal.

Nope. You can't be arrested or fined for disrespecting an officer. It certainly won't endear you to them, however. It also certainly won't help with other charges getting dropped in court when the officer tells the judge what was said, lol.

To be fair, not succeeding in Oakland doesnt mean McClain, or even DHB, couldnt succeed in another system. Especially for McClain since he would be playing in a completely different scheme.

Understand now, or do you still need help digesting this?

No one other than you ever compared DHB to Marvin Harrison. The very fact you did, makes you sound like a moron, hence you shouldn't be talking about football.

So Rolando McClain landed 5 sacks 2 years ago (when thats exactly what scouts said he could do), landed only 1 sack in limited action his last year, and he had a fluke of a career? His compared counterpart Scott had a fluke of a career? All the other players i just mentioned who are similarly skilled were also flukes? seriously.

Regarding DHB, I guess it depends on who you listen to. If we go back, we'll find a ton of people on both sides of the fence...either way, simply saying that just because some draftnik says something, doesnt make it so.

The only way for him to get back into anyone's good graces is by on the field. There is nothing he can possible say or do that will be believable. Honestly he has zero trust with anyone.

As a police officer in Baltimore City please let me shed some light on this charge. A police officer's peace can not be disturbed that is correct, but the key to his charge was it was not just him and the police officer present. Yelling "F- the Police" can be considered disorderly conduct if it interfered with people obeying the police officer's lawful order to leave the park. In Baltimore City there is a city ordinance against cursing in a public place. So if he actually cursed or just said "F" - that could be a separate charge. Unfortunately people think they can say anything and get away with it, but freedom of speech actually has limitations. If he was told to leave the park and said "F - the police" and was not leaving or circling back then the charge of "failure to obey a lawful order" also falls under disorderly conduct.

The bottom line is people have to act decent in public. A police officer can make a misdemeanor arrest if anyone acts disorderly in his presence. The charge could end up being dropped, but if you want to spent a night or two in Central Booking for it - good luck.

To make an arrest requires two things. 1. I have to tell you you are under arrest. 2. I have to touch your body. Once that is done and I tell you to put your hands behind your back and grab your hand to put on the handcuffs - any resistance you cause is illegal and can result in another charge. Under our use of force guidelines, I can use my pepper spray and/or my taser for failure to comply. I will admit it generates a lot of addition writing.

FYI, unless otherwise listed all parks in Baltimore City are closed from dusk until dawn. You are not allowed to be in the park period. (Park Rule #50). You would be surprised what laws are still on the book. You know it is against to law enter a park anywhere but the official entrance. You act like a decent citizen and you don't have to worry about knowing all the minor rules and ordinances because they are there for police officers to enforce if you are a drug dealer or complete jerk. Saying "F -the police" puts you in the jerk category with law enforcement. After 21 years, trust me, I can write a very good statement of probable cause.

I could bore you with a lot more but let me just say, it is in your best interest to cooperate with law enforcement. Sometimes when you are a high profile individual (NFL player) judges sometimes will make an example out of you. You think police officers have power, it is not even a blip on the radar when it comes to a judge's power.

 Yelling "F- the Police"

I mean really, what kind of person does that? I'm sure I'll be called judgmental for this as well, but that is a trashy thing to do.

And it makes me think that the people who stick up for him by saying "Big deal" aren't any better.

I agree 100% but I am sure many will think I am biased because of my 21 years on the force.

That was a really nice explanation! Not that you had to, but I enjoyed reading it, to be honest. I'm not saying it was a good move. I don't think you took it that way, though. But yeah, in the instance you gave, of course that would make sense for it to be a charge as he would be resisting arrest then. I'm just saying if you were driving down the street (for instance) & screamed that, then it wouldn't be a reason to do anything to that person.

But yeah. Lol. Rolando made a mistake. Clear as day.

Yeah and the police trying to clear the park of all those people, you have to consider that it did not put them in the best of moods. We work six on and two off until we hit the weekend. When you are on your six day on (especially if you been rocking on the night shift all week) your patience is a little thin to begin with. When 9-11 hit and we were working 12 hour shifts six days in a row it is a killer and that is not counting last minute arrests and court time. It will wear you out. People don't take that kind of stuff into consideration when it comes to judging a police officer's lack of a sense of humor if you know what I mean. The job can be taxing. If you work midnight shift and in court all day, there is very little time for your family and sleeping. You can be a walking zombie some days. I worked three shifts in a row several times because I was into investigations I could not leave from and could not really stop to eat right either. Unfortunately, even commanders don't always get it. The divorce rate for police officers is off the charts. Before you go shouting, "F - the police" you better think twice, especially with the city officers.

They're probably the same people who mitigate or excuse his actions, so who really cares what they think?

I'd still like to see if Rolando can keep his feet clean during training camp. If we're going to cut him anyway, we may as well hang onto him for a few more months while he at least isn't causing lockerroom problems.

Surely there's at least one ILB in the draft that can hit too.

AMEN! AMEN!

As an American Soldier on my 5th tour, I know exactly what you mean about being impatient, walking zombie, and stressed home life. Most of society respects us for our professions, some dont, but if they knew the personal struggles we endure, they'd think twice about giving someone a hard time that isnt really patient enough to tolderate BS

Really? There were a lot of criminals at the Ravens vs. Patriots game, then.

How did Rolando get arrested if even the cops say he was walking away like they told everyone to and said "F-the police"?!?!?! He wasn't doing anything illegal. The cop even said it in the interview.

If Courtney can play the run-defense for ILB position as Arthur Brown plays the coverage ILB, then how cool would it be to have Suggs, Dumervil, Brown, and Upshaw all in a package.
