Ravens in NFL Top 100 Players of 2013

580 posts in this topic

I don't really put too much stock in lists like these, but they're fun to watch at least. How many, and which Ravens do you think will make the list this year?

It only came to mind because I happened to catch the end of the preview show (which comes up again tonight at midnight, among other times), and they showed Richard Sherman filling out his ballot. Flacco was on his ballot, and this is what he said:

"Flacco...putting Flacco up there. I like Flacco. Flacco has gone to freaking championship after championship. Only reason they didn't go to the Super Bowl last year was because freaking Lee Evans. That, and Lee Evans has hands like feet!" :th_204070:

It goes without saying that Flacco, Rice, Ngata, and Suggs (even with injury) will be on the list. Based on the commercials, it looks like Torrey and Pitta will be there as well. Anyone else?

You can count on Lewis and Reed to be up there. Mostly based on respect and not production, but than again, they earned that.

Lewis won't be on the list because it's supposed to be for the next year.

Reed will be on the list...but he's not a Raven, so technically that's off-topic (it hurts, I know).

I don't think Ray will be on there since he will be retired for the '13 season.

I agree with what ratedr said and will add Yanda and maybe Leach. Leach was on it in both 2012 and 2011. Yanda has been deserving of it for some time, maybe he gets in.

This again...

Joe Flacco probably could hit the top 20.

Remember, when people were upset, that NFL players voted Joe higher than Romo? Guess, those football players know more about football than football analysts. Then again, Tebow go somehow on there. So, football.

If Flacco is shafted (in terms of putting him at the bottom) again I will be mad

Nah, players were well aware of his post-season play, the ring, and his MVP. They respect that. Some fans, on the other hand, still deny.

As much as I like some of our guys, I don't think Torrey, Jacoby, Pitta, or ex-Ravens Kruger, Boldin, or Ellerbe are really top-100 guys. There are a lot of great players out there who don't get the notoriety because their team sucks. Even teams like Cleveland, Buffalo, and St. Louis have a handful of players who deserve to make the list. And 100 averages to only 3 per team.

I'm willing to bet you a $5 footlong (or is it $6?) Torrey Smith gets on the top-100. Rumor has it Champ Bailey has PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder for those who don't know the acronym) after that game against him in the playoffs.

Trying to be objective, I would put Torrey behind Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Julio Jones, Roddy White, Dex Bryant, A.J. Green, Brandon Marshall, Mike Wallace, Dwayne Bowe, Percy Harvin, Vincent Jackson, Victor Cruz, Demarius Thomas, Michael Crabtree, Jordy Nelson, Wes Welker, Stevie Johnson, and Desean Jackson. That's 19 players right there. So how many of them get left off the list in favor of Torrey? Or do 20 receivers make the list?

And that's not even including Antonio Brown, Mike Williams, Jeremy Maclin, Marques Colston, Steve Smith, Santonio Holmes, Sidney Rice, Malcolm Floyd, Brian Hartline, Danny Amendola, Donnie Avery... the list goes on. I don't think Torrey is in the top 30 receivers yet. Even though he beat Champ, it was only on a few plays the entire game. We just have a QB who can take advantage of it. Most receivers could get 1-on-1 separation after 40 yards, but how many QBs actually attempt it?

Torrey Smith is underrated, but I doubt he makes the list since he hasn't broke 1000 yards yet.

As for Dennis Pitta, I doubt him too since he hasn't had a big year like Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Antonio Gates and Jason Witten.

Believe me, I understand. I'm just saying that I think he will make the list. I don't think he will be high (or low), but in the 90-100 range.

When they show you in the commercials for the list, it's pretty much a guarantee that you're on it.

Mike "One Trick Pony" Wallace doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the others on that list nor does Danny "Glass Bones" Amendola

Lewis - 13 (B/c of his play during our superbowl run. He recorded the most tackles in the playoffs the second closest player was Ellerbe who was 20 something tackles behind him. Also the defensive stand to win the SB. I know our defense got healthy as lewis came back, but it seems as when he came back from the tricep injury our Defense got back to playing Ravens defense. That will go into account.)

Flacco- 19 (I would rate him higher but the players won't vote solely on post season play. He was inconsistent during the reg season but he will get credit for his historical playoff run)

Rice 26 - (hey diddle diddle ray rice up the middle)

Reed 29 - (Although his INT's went down this year, we didn't give up many big plays b/c Reed always played deeper than the deep and QB's knew better than to take shots w/ Reed lurking near

Yanda - 42 (imho he was our best o-linemen ALL YEAR. I know Birk played well during the post season but Yanda is a top 3 guard today)

Boldin - 54 (solely b/c of his playoff run that the ENTIRE football world witnessed) You will be missed bro

Leaaaaach - 60 ( Best blocking FB in the league, dying position so I don't expect him to get much more love than 60)

Smith - 82 (<---- see what I did there? Lol But a guy who has great hands and needs a Safety to his side on every play b/c he can easily get behind the defense. needs to develop route running. I expect him to be in the top 50 next year.)

Jones - 90 (A big play WAITING to happen. He can take it back at any given moment and another guy who can take the top off of the defense)

Just off - Pitta & Pollard

I'm Loving pitta getting some respect, and I'm ready for his Pro-Bowl year. Especially with a suspect WR core.
