Tough Mudder 2013

10 posts in this topic

I was going to participate in this but decided to have a baby instead. ;) But my husband ran Tough Mudder this morning over in West Virginia, and he sent some pictures afterwards of himself completely muddy from head to toe. Who in the world would run this thing!?! I still want to, but it's going to be a couple years down the road. Have any of you heard of this? It's an obstacle course basically, with incredible challenges, like electroshock, ice mountains, etc. It's unreal! His official "time" was 3 hrs and 41 minutes through the course. I'm so proud of him, but he's crazy. :D He said people were literally throwing up on the course and then continuing on.

I did one last year and I'm doing it again this year. Not that I know but its probably a smart idea to not do it if you just had a baby. If you are in "decent" shape its a lot of fun. The one I do is the Muck Ruckas and its just a 10k.

Not planning on doing it anytime soon. Baby comes in July, but before I found out I was pregnant, I wanted to run it with my husband today. It's incredible how much endurance you have to have, at least what I can tell of it anyway. But, perhaps at next year's Mid-Atlantic one, I can participate!

Husband woke up this morning with the effects of Tough Mudder yesterday, but he has convinced me to do it with him next year. :)

I saw that, because I want to know how to take a screen cap of one of the images in the video. My husband and a couple of other doctors from Johns Hopkins are in a couple seconds of that video! They're also on one of the Facebook pictures Tough Mudder put up. :) So proud of all the ones who conquered the course yesterday and will do so today!

My husband also ran the Tough Mudder on Saturday in WV. I stayed home with the baby while he ran through the mud in some pretty chilly weather....the pictures say it all. When he came home he was covered in mud from head to toe and has scraps and a few bruises on his arms and legs. He absolutely loved every minute of it and is trying to convince me to do it with him next year! It does look like it would be a fun challenge!

I am so proud of him for completing it, too, and was thinking about getting him a little "gift" for working so hard and accomplishing his goals. Any ideas? I was going to buy him a "Tough Mudder" shirt but they gave them out to the participants. I looked at the other gear they had online and nothing really caught my eye. Any thoughts? Would you ask your hubby to see if there's anything that maybe he wish he'd brought along or could use for the next time?

Thanks!

He's convinced me to run it with him next Spring. By that time, our 'bean' due in July will be around 9 months old, and I think I will have put my body back into somewhat of a good enough shape to run it. He got a lot of the goodies while he was there, but I thought the exact same thing about giving him something for an accomplishment piece. The wives and I are getting the team trophies for completing Tough Mudder. We are purchasing them from http://www.dinntrophy.com/BuildYourOwnAward.aspx Anyways, we're having written on each trophy, "One Tough Mudder! April 20, 2013." And then their names. It's quite a feat, and I'm so proud of him! Hope that helps!
