2008 Draft Class

So I'm staying at a hotel across from the Tampa Airport and a Ravens team jet is parked here. Wonder what they're doing.

 

A college pro day? Anything nearby there? I know they were interested in Carradine, who is a Florida State player but that's up in Tallahassee.

Doesn't Biscotti have some kind of place down there? Don't they go down to Tampa Bay every year for that week retreat or whatever? Perhaps they went down there to discuss the Draft & shoot some golf. I wouldn't be too surprised by that, lol. 

 

They could have possibly gone to some schools down there, maybe to talk to some of the coaches. I think more than likely it's less to do with a prospect & more to do with their entire draft plan. That's my guess.

With it being 5 years later, the fact that we have a tandem of one of the top QBs and top RBs in this one class, this grade has to be AT LEAST an A. Other guys we drafted survived in this league for 4+ years and have been solid contributors to their team. If you can draft 2-3 solid starters every draft, then that draft deserves at least a B-B+. We got two potential Hall of Famers on offense at two of the biggest positions on the field in this draft. It deserves at least an A.

Perhaps, I know they fell to Florida sometime immeadiately after the season - it was either after the SB or after the 'State of the Ravens' presser.

 

Could just be a getaway, you're right. Steve can kick back wherever/whenever he wants.

I hope our 2013 draft turns out to be like 2008, where we land two premier starters.

 

The rest are to help with special teams and fill the roster.

 

I like our chances on find quality starters in this draft since there's plenty of teams reaching for QBs, which will let a good prospect fall.

The thing I remember the most about that draft was we traded back from our picks in both the first and second rounds and landed a franchise quarterback and pro bowl running back with the first and second rounders we received in return.  The other thing about that draft, just looking at the players who were taken, I didn't really see anyone who we whiffed on by taking someone else at their spot.  There were actually not as many impact players as I expected taken in the later rounds - for anyone wondering, no there was no "we passed on Roddy White for Mark Clayton" type situation at any of our picks, so the fact that we landed Joe and Ray in that draft should be something even more special, because it looks like a pretty weak class.
