Just think Suggs playing opposite of Dumervil with Ngata in the middle, and Webb and J Smith playing press. Ball needs to come out quick for opposing teams this year. Good thing Denver got Welker against us.
Peyton also has a quick release. Our D will probably be okay against them - we stymied them for the first half of the game in Baltimore and, in their house, they only scored 21. Without Ayanbadejo dragging his cement shoes on kick returns and making a tackle, the game might not have come down to the F-bomb, or the Broncos kneeling to go to OT, or Peyton getting baited into a pick, or Tucker nailing a 47 yd FG...

Anyways, I think the onus will be on the offense. They have to come out fast and challenge, don't let it get out of hand and shoot yourself like the game in Baltimore. Coincidentally, that was the last pick Joe Flacco has thrown.

Anyone who thinks playing Denver in Week 1 is a benefit to the Ravens is not thinking clearly.

This essentially means Peyton Manning will have all summer long to plan against the Ravens specifically.

He'll already want revenge for eliminating him in the playoffs. But now he doesn't have to plan for other teams each week leading up to the Ravens.

This also pretty much eliminates any chance that Manning suffers any sort of injury, or even really gets hit before the Ravens. Sure, you don't wish injury on anyone... but we can all admit that the Broncos would be easier to beat if he wasn't on the field or not at 100%.

Then, the nice weather. He had to wear gloves during the playoff meeting. He didn't when the Broncos played in Baltimore in the regular season. They kicked the Ravens' butts in the regular season. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Sorry... but I don't want the first game to be against the Broncos. First of all, it's much less meaningless. I'd rather the game be late in the season simply for the playoff implications and possibly having that one game determine who gets a BYE week or who gets the number 1 overall seed and home field advantage.

I want it in the cold weather. If anything gives Flacco and advantage over other quarterbacks in this league, it's windy/wet/cold weather. It also suits the Ravens running game and the fact they have smaller backs.

I'd rather get one of those Steelers games out of the way, and set the tone for the division from Week 1. Plus.... ring ceremony on Heinz Field!

Eh. You would think that.

Why is it only to Peyton's benefit? The Ravens have shown through week 1 and bye weeks that with ample time we put together a mean game plan.

Besides, how much will Peyton be playing in preseason? Are the Broncos really going to subject their aging cornerstone to meaningless hits? Game 1 could be the first real full-go action he truly sees and we aren't going to take it easy on him. Peyton plays better in mid-season form when the wheels get churning.

Good point, Manning is easier to beat after he's been run down a little and the weather gets bad - the neck starts aching, he has to put on gloves because it isn't the sheltered RCA Dome/Lucas Oil stadium he's used to, the ball can't travel as far as it once did.

Still, the Ravens will be coming out of the gate healthy, too. Knock on wood.

Broncos fans are still blaming their post season loss on the refs.

Must have been hard watching us go on to win the Super Bowl.
How did the refs impact the game at all? I hadn't heard that before and don't remember any contested issues.

Let's not forget that the Ravens are undefeated in season openers under Coach Harbaugh, so, there's that!

I don't specifically remember, but there was the non-call PI on the Graham interception in the first half. Also the Peyton fumble that was very close to being a tuck ruling.

Personally, I think there were bad calls on both teams - those refs were not very good that day. Naturally, the loser then blames the refs for the fact that their team couldn't get the W.

And, to go with that (of course), Joe has never lost a season opener.

Ugh, it feels like just yesterday we ended this whole Broncos-Ravens talk. Now we have to look forward to it again for more than the standard week.

Another downside of playing the Broncos week 1.

Gotcha. Didn't particularly remember those.

Champ and Rahim Moore are still on their roster, right? We're good :)
Moore is a very good FS. He was beat on one play. He played well the rest of the year.

Why didn't they get the Patriots to visit for the Broncos' season opener? That would seem like a better matchup.

I have to wonder if we'll get a home game in week 2 and who it would be against. Week 2 has been a struggle for us in the past couple years(even though the refs gave Philly the game last year) and hopefully with it being at home, it would turn our week 2 struggles around.

I'm just curious when we play New England. I hope it's not week 2 lol. Then again, I think the NFL would most likely save that for late in the season since they would know that game could determine who is the top seed.

Don't get me wrong, I've been an Orioles fan for years, but I really don't like the way that this whole thing went down. The Orioles are playing .500 ball so far this year. It will really leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth if the Orioles are rained out or something. Hopefully, they will be in the pennant race again and we didn't sacrifice our celebration for nothing. Still, there is something about Angelos that makes me think that he was behind the whole stinking thing. There is no remorse in his cold heart.

Um...how? We have nearly an entire different defensive squad (and I'm figuring a completely different look to go with it). No game tape. What's he going to do? lol

I mean, think about it. No Cary Williams to try and exploit. Webb will be back out there. Who knows about the other starting CB right now. No Reed to hurdle over. No Lewis to try and force into TE coverage and exploit. A healthy Suggs this time around, anchored up with Dumervil now. He's got nothing lol

It won't happen, but I would love to go on the road Week 2, perhaps to Miami for their opener. I doubt it happens, though. Probably play the Jets, Browns, Bengals week 2.

If the O's happen to be in the World Series this year or any year in the near future, and they have to play their game on a Sunday in which we are already scheduled for a 1PM game, I bet Angelos will be on the Ravens and the NFL to move the game in a heart beat. At which case, Steve and Goodell could just say, you didn't move your game so we won't move ours.

Oh and please NFL, do not give us the Bengals in Week 17 for the third year in a row. If anything, let it be Pittsburgh(easy flex game into SNF for Week 17) or some other team. Just not the Bengals.

You want 2 road games to start the season and not have our first home game until week 3?

Well, why not? Get two road games out of the way early. We can get more rest later in the season when we need it.
