Examining Pressure (Pass Rush)

5 posts in this topic

Pro Football Focus just came out with a very interesting and in-depth article about pressure in the NFL. By pressure they mean getting pressure on the quarterback. It is a very interesting read and doesn't take very long to read.

Great article and it is very interesting. It goes back to an argument I was trying to make regarding Michael Oher. Someone was saying that he is fine at RT because that position isnt as important as LT. I disagreed saying pressure comes just as frequently from the right side and the RT needs to be a competent pass-protector just like the LT. This makes me feel even less confident having Oher starting for us as he has yet to prove to be a consistent player on either side.

Dick LeBeau said pressure is more important than the sack.

3-4 Zone blitz helps disguise the rusher to confuse the OL and try to make that QB's internal clock go off under 3 second.
