I know people who were running and others who actually live in the city - all unharmed but so scary.

I have friends up there too....all rangers with Boston NHP. Fanueil Hall, the downtown VC, aren't that far from Copley Square. Fortunately, all are ok--the park and USS Constitution all emergency closed this afternoon

My heart bleeds for those hurt and killed. Unfortunately, the casualty numbers will only go up.

I won't assume until everything has been settled.

All we can do is mourn for the broken and the lost.

It's unfortunate that people who have trained and waited their whole life for a great event like the Boston marathon to come away broken, some never coming back.

This is terrible. I have a lot of strong emotions about this, but I just want to say my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Boston and to the victims and their families. I was fortunate to miss some of the graphic images, but the saddest I saw was a little kid in a wheelchair being helped around. I also hope justice is served to whoever is responsible.

Thank God.

The situation could've been worse.

Five bombs were found and defused around the area.

I doubt one person planned this, it was a group since it takes time to place all those materials.

I had a cousin at the marathon. Thank goodness he's ok.

The family's been a little shaken up by this. Everyone appears to be doing much better now that we know everyone's ok, though.

Oh wow. I'm so sorry you all have had to go through this. I'm glad you all are safe, though. I'll pray for you and your family.

Thanks. Honestly, it wasn't a big thing. Just panic that was resolved within an hour or so, but just the thought that a couple of family members could've been in the area was a little disquieting. That I had a cousin in the marathon (as a volunteer or runner is unclear) and that nothing happened was nothing short of amazing.

8 year old boy was one of the 3 victims. Terrible.

My wife just sent me a text saying the same thing. Apparently his sister lost a leg and the Mom is undergoing brain surgery. All because they showed up to cheer thier father to the finish line. So pointless.

I am already seeing conspiracy theories about this already on Facebook.

I have no idea the source of this. But i think how terrible it is because I don't believe this is true.

Can you imagine the shock and panic of those Watertown residents? I heard an interview on CNN by one of the residents, describing the town as a "war zone." Federal authority presence is insane. Crazy stuff. And I was near the town where the whole Dorner situation went down too, nothing as crazy as this

I have some close friends who live in Cambridge, their house is 2 blocks from the 7-11 that got held up. It's crazy how close to home this hits.

The Uncle of the bombers lives on the street of my younger brother (about 5 minutes from me). He says that the media and people are bombarding the guy.

Did you watch the press conference, he had to scream over the media. They were blurting out questions while he was trying to answer. He did a good job, though, imo.

I haven't. I was just on the phone with my brother and he was telling me about it. I'm heading over there tonight to see my new nephew, so it will be interesting to see if the media is still hanging around (I suspect they will be).

So if the older brother was completely riddled with bullets and shrapnel, wouldn't you think the younger one is at the very least wounded?

He could have crawled under a house and bled out......

The carjack victim could probably shed some light on that.

Wow. They are calling off the dogs for now so I guess the younger brother slipped through the dragnet.

People are being told they can leave the house, tactical units called back, etc.

Really? Local media here (MD) is saying they are strengthening the search now.

200 rounds exchanged in the standoff. Brother is Swiss cheese and he gets away without a scratch?

Hopefully no.
