New England Patriots are weaker and everything Aaron Hernandez related

That's what PFT is reporting.

Also more is coming out, like he threatened Wes Welker apparently. I guess this was after he was drafted and was trying to watch tape and he asked Welker to help him, Welker responded, "You figure it out Rookie". Hernandez apparently went off because Welker refused to help him.

After reading that report, I'm curious if that's how the Pats vets treat their rookies, or if Welker is just a jerk.  Yeah, bad reaction on Hernandez's part, but if that's normal behavior from the vets, the Pats could be in for more trouble down the road.

Back to the subject, the minute I heard they announced Obstruction of Justice, I thought "Here come the Ray Lewis comparisons" and those have been all over Twitter now.  I'm going to keep my mouth shut about it, unless it turns out he actually did do something, although the evidence does not look good right now.

Brilliant. Tops my spygate reference from yesterday by a bunch.

Now they are saying there isn't a warrant for obstruction of justice?

Gotta love the media nowadays.

It's not like the media knows what is going to happen so they are just taking guesses at this point until something actually does come out of it.

Everybody wants a feather in their cap for being first on the scene to report something. Fact checking can be done later...

Quite a backward process it is

[Suggs] also added that players who have played in New England share stories of what’s wrong with the organization, though he wouldn’t specify.

Remember Suggs' Pats tirade from after the Patriots game? Maybe this is what he was talking about. Now their locker room problems are pouring out.

Hernandez has a tough road ahead, and it wont be leading to another shot at the Lombardi. Hes innocent until proven guilty, but if the reports are right... hes done a bad job of proving said innocence.. trying to destroy evidence and crap like that. Not to mention, the face-shooting incident, potential gang relations from college... A pretty picture isnt being painted unless youre the prosecution.

Does the NFL have a policy on players convicted of obstruction of justice?

Why would they have a policy on a crime that has such a wide spectrum?  Obstruction of justice can be anything from minor to major, ranging from a small fine to 20+ years in jail.  Crimes have to be handled on a case by case basis.

I'm not sure if it will matter soon. I think Hernandez isn't even thinking about Goodell and his fines and suspensions. He's probably more concerned with not going to jail. He can't practice or play in jail.

True, but that's why I was asking.  where are the amateur legal eagles?

He'll just bail his way out.

There is no definitive answer for any crime.  The NFL basically handles it based on what they see fit.  It's not like a rape is equal to a 5 game suspension and assault is equal to a 3 game suspension.  It's handled case by case.

Though those are far more concrete crimes than "obstruction of justice".

It's just an example.  Obstruction of justice isn't tied to any certain amount of games either, especially considering the wide range of severity of the crime.

It'll be interesting to see if and how much his performance is affected if this goes to trial.

It's not looking like he'll ever be on the field again based on the information we have right now.  I'm not ready to completely write him off, but it's not looking good for him.

Let us hope for the sake of the NFL that the destruction of his electronics was just panic at not wanting to be associated with something fishy and nothing more.  Every time a sports star goes on trial for a violent felony, it's nonstop bashing on all fronts.

I like to think of him as more of a Mr. Bean character who humorously yet accidentally breaks things around him and has to improvise hilariously.

Rather a bumbling idiot than an incompetent murderer, I suppose.

Death by hanging is only allowed in New Hampshire and Washington state, not Massachusetts where this occurred .
