BloodRaven

New England Patriots are weaker and everything Aaron Hernandez related

I'm actually excited to see what the Dolphins can do. They've added some quality pieces while relying on some quality youth. Tannenhill's arrow is pointing up.

But besides the Dolphins (who are still a bit away from unseating the Pats) the rest of the division is garbage. Jets and Bills have some major issues (@ QB specifically). Pats will be fine in their division again. Another stroke of luck for them, easy division.

I'll be watching the Dolphins this year, that's for sure. If there's a victory to be had in free agency I think they have it.

Anybody else get a poor mans 2008 ravens feel from the dolphins? I don't expect them to make afc championship but they've got a nice young group of talent.

I would not be shocked if they still missed the playoffs. They have to play AFC North. I doubt they go 0-4, but it's a very plausible scenario

Agree, they gotta prove they can do it first. I just have a feeling Tannehill improves now that's he's got more weapons and a year under his belt. They have a nasty D too.

Makes me sick to read this. The ACLU is "concerned" about Hernandez's accommodations in prison and how there is "damage" being done to Hernandez.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/aclu-concerned-aaron-hernandez-being-treated-prison-003203774.html

Ok ACLU, what about the damage that he put a family through, oh wait you don't care about them.

I was actually very disappointed and saddened the day I was watching the NBA Finals and saw "NFL" in the sports ticker. The minute I saw that, I thought to myself 'what the heck is going on now...' and sure enough, there was something about a player being questioned about a murder because a rented vehicle to that player was a clue in the murder case.

That said, fast forward to when Hernandez was actually arrested. I thought it was almost funny when the Sheriff of Bristol County Jail was doing an interview with ESPN and mentioned that while giving Aaron Hernandez an orientation, he asked 'what if I want something to drink'

And the Sheriff said that was one of the realizations and major hurdles that Hernandez would have to quickly get acclimated as jail has no such liberties and freedom. I thought that was just classic

I saw an interview where a Sheriff or CO was explaining to NFLAM why he wasn't going to accommodate Hernandez's request to be married while in jail. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, "why would I make accommodations for somebody who threw away their rights by making poor decisions on the outside."

Oh yea, the "Academically Constrained Lawyers Union" strikes again!!

There just a bunch of losers that can't pass the bar exam.

Oh man:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000216990/article/aaron-hernandez-admitted-to-firing-fatal-shots-documents-say

What I don't get about this, is if only 3 men got out of the car - 1 of which would be shot, why would Hernandez admit to the 2nd man that he pulled the trigger. Isn't there some implicitness to that fact? Redundancy?

This is a a jaw-dropper, but the story isn't quite jiving. Or is it that the article is just poorly written

The latest for today on Hernandez:  http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/07/09/19377979-hernandez-slammed-door-on-police-investigating-friends-death-documents-say#comments

This case gets stranger by the day!  Funny, Hernandez didn't ask who the victim was when the police told him they were doing a death investigation? Hmmm.  Watching his survellience system, all lawyered up, yeah right! smh

Wonder when he smashed his survellience system?

Bit of a bonehead, huh, Grap? I'm not sure what he's thinking or was thinking. He seems to be a really poor decision maker. I feel bad for his child. He has a little girl, right?

Yeah, that is the sad part!  I think the baby is about 7 or 8 months old.  I swear the more I read on this case, I just have to smh... Hernandez might have been a good route runner, but he surely isn't the sharpest tool in the shed by far when it comes to common sense!  I wonder what he scored on the Wonderlic? lol

Hmmm!!! Next we'll read that he shot the Wonderlic a few times, too. Or burned it.

And that is really sad for that baby. I feel bad for the fiance as well. I mean, her sister's boyfriend just died because of her fiance. That's a bit of a crazy situation to find yourself. Now she's probably all conflicted and is in the middle. I really feel  bad for her, because she's also probably scared. Who knows, though.

Honestly, I would be afraid for my life if I was in her position. I know she is Hernandez's fiance, but I hope she gets some great legal advice, and doesn't enter into a marriage with him.

Why on earth would an eyewitness (Wallace) say something along the lines of 'Aaron admitted to me that he pulled the trigger'....if he was the only eyewitness?!?!?!!

That's absurd! The statement should have been ~'He pulled the trigger'

Ortiz should not be saying ~'Wallace told me that Hernandez told him he pulled the trigger'

This isn't jiving

I've heard plenty of people on TV and radio either criticize or defend the Patriots for drafting the guy. There are arguments for both sides but I think the bottom line is no matter how bad a guy is nobody can reasonably expect someone to go out and "allegedly" murder someone.

The one area where I feel it is valid to criticize the Patriots I have never heard anyone else bring up is the contract extension they gave him. If they simply waited it out they would have gotten a couple years of incredible production and little to no negative effect from cutting him. Instead they had to eat a $10 cap hit this year on top of the actual money they paid him to drag their franchise through the mud.

Not this...

I'm just thinking the other side of your point. Look at their offense. Look at how New England is constantly a revolving door for veterans. And look at how many of their draft picks aren't franchise players.

Perhaps the idea was to manage what they thought to be the core of their franchise right now - Brady, Gronk, Hernandez, maybe one of the running backs. It's debatable as to who they would consider core or would be coveted on the defense.

I don't know what their cap situation is like. What I do know is that they plug anybody in. Case in point, Troy Brown playing corner on various occasions, the guy that knocked the ball out of Lee Evans' hands was a relative unknown.

Just a thought though

Back in 2010 and a few times since then I recall reading how Ozzie was interested in Gronkowski and Hernandez saying as much as he tried to get them but the Patriots got there first..i am so glad he got who he got I am sure now in retrospect he has no regrets not drafting those two TE's the Patriots got.I rarely ever post anything so I hope you all don't go too hard on me

I still would have taken Gronk... Even with the health issues he's only like 24 so he has time to heal and hopefully overcome them. It's fun to watch him play (on the field).

I still would have taken both of them. Character flaws or not, there is no way the Pats or anyone could have seen this level of character concern coming.

But he's such an idiot off the field.
