New England Patriots are weaker and everything Aaron Hernandez related

1,011 posts in this topic

These events really bring to light how bad the Patriots have been at drafting lately. For the last 8 or so years, their best picks were Gronk and Hernandez. Gronk was a great talent with a back injury concern, and Hernandez was a great talent with character concerns. Over the first few years they looked like steals, but now those concerns are legitimate, and the Patriots got out of them exactly what you'd expect.

Their other 2nd round picks have produced little to nothing, and so far their only mid-late round success is Dennard, who fell in the draft because no one knew if he'd spend the next few years in jail. The Pats have lived off the theory of "We'll take a chance on this guy because we need to win NOW" and it hasn't worked. That's why they're always close but never there.

Insightful post.

Wonder how much of that attitude is influenced by a fear that they got ridiculously lucky with Brady, and as he gets older, his weaknesses become more exposed. He's a window that's closing, and they can't be serious about Tebow as a backup plan.

Love how our FA is always thinking 4 or so years down the road, and how that kid from Delaware is just beginning to come into his own.

Did you guys see this, an associate of Hernandez's, Thaddeus Singleton who the police wanted to talk to died Sunday in a car accident. The car apparently shot through the air and hit a country club six feet off the ground. The car that was involved in the accident was registered to.. Hernandez's uncle.

^ wow.

I also heard on the radio today that Hernandez apparently hit a man when he was 19 and screwed up his hearing really bad.

Tebow is not their backup plan to Brady.  I'm not even sure if Tebow makes their opening day roster.  If anything he's a gadget plan for them.  Mallet is their backup QB as of right now.

While I do agree that Brady is a stroke of luck upon their franchise, they've done plenty of other things right.  Their SB defenses were stellar.  Sure they've hit a rough patch now defensively, but they have a ton of talented young defenders that will start to hit stride in the upcoming years and their run game has taken a bigger chunk of the puzzle.

How telling is it? Seriously?

They picked a TE in the 1st round and they thought they got the best one in the draft. WR in the 3rd. WR in the 8th. They had a total of 4 TEs on the roster, and the offense featured Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Andre Caldwell, and Jordan Shipley who was the WR picked in the 3rd round.

It's just noise. Nothing relevant. They got the receiving targets that they wanted for Carson Palmer. 31 other teams can now play the I Knew It All Along, but the ONLY thing they knew was they were avoiding someone who smokes a little bit. Percy Harvin smoked a little bit too and he's turned out to be fine. I'll bet Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman didn't have a checkered past before getting suspended. I know John Moffit didn't cause I went to his alma mater.  Jimmy Smith got passed on 25 or 26 times and he's turned out to be an ok dude.

I was thinking about it later, and figured it was just a Bengals' spokesman trying to make themselves look good.

You're right, it's just a bunch of noise.....

I wonder if Lloyd had a suspicion of what would happen to him and brought those keys to Hernandez's rental car (linked to 2 man Homicide) with him the night he was murdered, just incase he indeed gets murdered to get Hernandez in more trouble.

Kind of like going out on a bang, (seriously no pun intended, having trouble wording it).

Sort of like in the movie Donnie Brasco, I think Lloyd had to have suspisicons/doubts about being with Hernandez that night. If not it could just be Hernandez being one of the most stupidest serial killers ever.

With all that they're finding out about his violent acts while at U. Florida and how those didn't get followed up on, I'm wondering if Florida and Urban Meyer might become the next big scandal involving cover ups for the benefit of a football program.

At this rate if they keep going back and finding dirt on him they will find him guilty of every crime that has ever happened.

Can someone list how many different crimes he's accused of? It has to be at least 5.

I wonder if he's going to run the prison he's going to

It's getting crazier by the day.  We have:

1. The Odin Lloyd murder

2. The double murder last year

3. The man shot in the face/arm

4. A shooting his freshman year, when he was 17.

And I'm pretty sure there's one more shooting/incident in which he's rumored to be involved.

I know of 6 people who were shot that he *possibly* did.  Beyond that, there are the beatings he has supposedly done.

Shootings that I know of are: the one he has been charged with, the one whom he is accused of having shot in the eye earlier this year, the two from last year in conjunction with the silver suv and now 2 as a student at Florida.  He was supposedly identified and was wanted for questioning for those back in the day, but was never questioned.

So that's what happened to the Lindbergh baby...

Here's an exclusive to this site (most likely). He busted one of my friends' fence during a high school party, and he never paid a dime! While this is also a rumor my friend stands by it firmly and always has since the night of. And I know AH was there.

Also read about domestic disturbance issues at his summer rental home in Ca. from June of 2012 involving his current girlfriend.  It is beginning to appear this dude has some anger issues among other things.

Now today, they are also listing possible cocaine at the "flop house".  Geeze, what else? lol    But good info. in the live blog with actual documentation from search warrants and police reports.

All thirty-one teams passed on Hernandez except the Pats. Really the Pats know how to pick up "law abiding" players....NOT!

Well, I see the Patriots have decided to change their font to a more block lettering to reflect how Hernandez will be living in cell block 6 going forward.

That's kind of funny. I like it!

What else could explain the timing of the change?! Especially when the one on the left seems so much more posh and classic and professional logo-worthy

They've been using it on their website before the Hernandez arrest.

It all make sense now. They will have all the alleged details in the Huffington Post tomorrow. They know that they can get the edge on all the other sources since it's a holiday...UNLESS...unless Fox News beats them to it.
