New England Patriots are weaker and everything Aaron Hernandez related

Because he rented a car that was used during a murder.  Seems like as good of a reason as any.

Sure. But if you got nothing to worry about, do you still make that call? I'm sure there are plenty times where one might, but how on Earth could a man with no wrongdoing implicate himself?

I'm not suggesting anything cause I don't know the facts. I'm just asking a logical question. If nothing is wrong with my car, I'm not calling my mechanic to look it at. That's all

To your point, my only assumption would be that his prints would have been on the vehicle IF he was the one that picked it up. But there would still be a chance to be exonerated if that was the only thing. But still, you don't need a lawyer to tell you how to conduct yourself if your slate is clean and the cops have a search warrant for your home.

In that situation , you most certainly call your attorney. no question about it

Seriously. It's a MURDER investigation. Lawyering up does not imply guilt. It implies being wise about the situation.

I get that 100%.

Not suggesting it is implying guilt but rather wondering if that is a mechanical response (processing what you may/may not know and calling the lawyer) or if it is a natural response (I didn't do nothin but I'm maintaining composure and being wise enough to call my lawyer prior to allowing them to come in my home and search).

But you guys are right. I'm wrong. Let too much of my personal thought process bias creep in to the board =(

Wow. First Gronk is out thanks to multiple surgeries, and now Hernandez may or may not be in legal trouble. Sounds like Tim Tebow may have to convert to Tight End whether he likes it or not.

The Patriots have Ballard. He's a good player. I think he's pretty underrated. I know he's not Gronkowski or Hernandez but he's still good.

Yeah I remember all the drama when the Pats grabbed him off injury waivers from the Giants, he was a solid player for the Giants and he will only be better in the TE-friendly system that the Pats run.

It could get worse for Aaron Hernandez. Apparently, someone is suing him after an alleged fight at a gentlemen's club, during which Aaron allegedly shot him in the face.

That is why you don't shoot people in the face.

Police have not officially named the victim, although CBS Boston reports family members have identified him as Odin Lloyd of Dorchester.

A neighbor of Lloyd's reportedly told the station they had seen Hernandez in the neighborhood where Lloyd lived in Dorchester, and that Lloyd dated the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.

Not good news for him.

Yeah, I was kind of leaning in that same direction... you'd think there'd be a police report somewhere to back this up...

Man Im glad our team is composed of guys with their heads on straight. When was the last issue our team has had like this? I'm thinking Sergio Kindle and Coach Moeller's DUIs. This Hernandez case is ridiculous already and the media and public don't even know any real details yet.

Jovan Belcher and Josh Brent just this year. Belcher shot his girlfriend and Brent was charged with manslaughter. They're just not big-name players, and the cases were pretty open-and-shut.

Jamal Lewis' jail sentence was pretty bad

Oh, then, I don't really want to bring stuff up, but J. Lew had some legal issues with selling drugs last decade. I'm sure there were other comparably minor cases. We've yet to see how big a deal this Hernandez case really is. But for the most part, how "big" the case is depends on the player's stature in the league.

The really sad thing about Jamal is the pot thing happened in college-- he was not a Raven then

Jamal never sold drugs. No drugs or money ever changed hands. He was convicted of having a phone conversation to set up a possible drug deal...a deal he did not go through with.

That's why I give the players the benefit of the doubt. One accusation and there goes your reputation.

So bizarre.  Greg Bedard, some guy that seems to be covering this Hernandez thing to its full extent, is mentioning gang affiliation with Hernandez.  He said he was gang affiliated in college, and most likely still is.

i wonder what all the patriot fans that bash ray for being a "murderer" will have to say about these circumstances.

Actually I'm more interested in how us Ravens fans will act, and whether we join the inevitable witch hunt or show a little bit of empathy. We, of all fans, know what it's like to have a player hounded relentlessly over a charge like that.
