[News] Report: Rolando McClain Says He’s Signing 1-Year Deal With Ravens

339 posts in this topic

I remember wishing we could have gotten this guy when he came out fo the draft but he was going to go too high for us to get him. Now we end up with him anyway, just like Huff said in his press conference, sometimes things are meant to be.

I would've preferred to draft Te'o then sign McClain. They're both practically the same kind of LB except Te'o doesn't have character issues. The only thing is we would probably have to trade up a few spots to get him. But I just don't understand how some people are so excited over McClain but they don't want to give Te'o a chance.

At first I really liked this idea... then I saw the webpage below... yikes! I hope we didnt make a mistake:
http://www.raiders1....om-2011-season/
But, as you see he has more time of watching him making plays then he's not so that's a positive for me. in Ozzie I Trust

Oh god it begins. The McClain train right up the middle. McClain x 2.
So are you saying that in a good way or bad, cause if you saying it in a bad way this McClain is better then our McClain

They Steelers still have 5 days to match the offer but they are in a tight squeeze. Who says restricted FA's don't get plucked :) He is probably worth a third round pick though.
That's the thing for them. They don't go deep into the checking account so they have all the reason to take the 3rd round pick this year and develop that guy this year rather than keep Sanders and think about signing him to a lot of dough next year, or letting him walk with nothing in return but a later comp pick, and then they would have to draft a WR next year to go with whoever they plug in this year or draft. Plus, while they might have a bunch of guys that none of us have heard of, they are on a 2 year plan to go deep in playoffs which means this year will be their time to get everyone on the field w/o having super high expectations.

the dude is a cancer hopefully baltimore's team first locker room can overcome/influence him
Yea, he had problems, but who doesn't we hopefully we will see if he learned from his mistakes and after reading the article on him on how he wants to change I think he has and if he didn't then trust the Ravens will have no problem with releasing him, but truthfully I think that them Raiders is a cancer by there self, and it's going to prove that when he comes here and have the best season or career with us

Rotoworld is saying

Rolando McClain - LB - Free Agent The Baltimore Sun reports it would be a "small investment" if the Ravens signed free agent ILB Rolando McClain, and that his spot with the team would be contingent on his "approach to football (and) life."
In other words, he'd be on the shortest of leashes after flaming out in Oakland. McClain could make an impact as a two-down linebacker in Baltimore, but would have to earn his playing time with a strong camp. Related: Ravens

just thought you would like to hear it.
Hey sometimes you have to start all over again to get back on top it's just humbling experience for him something he probably needed, but I still say this is good pick up and a steal. The Raiders doesn't have that type of organization that we have so I believe Ozzie pick him up for a reason

The Ravens have gotten two former 1st round picks from the Raiders for pennies. Perhaps they should start looking at Oakland as Baltimore's football farm team! Great pick-up!

I can't wait to hear the commentators mention McClain and McClain, they will be soooo confused on who's who. As it is they still call our team the Raisins! LOL Good thing Madden retired, he'd probably would talk about which McClain was who throughout an entire game! Oh wait now who went up the middle was it McClain, La'Ron or that new guy. Pat - No John La'Ron's name is different and he isn't even with the team. Now where's Ray Lewis? It'd be a funny spectacle oh well.

I love this move!! The ravens are one of the best when it comes to dealing with players who have had off the field issues and putting them on the right path. A good one year evaluation period. If he works out then we can sign him long term and if he doesn't no problem. Yet another great right player, right price, low risk, high reward signing for the ravens!

We love to grab Texan, Alabama, and now Raider players. When Oz locks in he really locks in! He really has a great insight.

I would love to see us trade up to get Vaccarro. Then get our slot wr Swope in the second round. Then maybe ILB Jon Bostic in the 3rd. Unfortunately that doesn't really address our OL needs soon enough. Maybe we could hold off on a slot wr and grab OT Watson, Pugh, or Armstead in the 2nd.

I know this kid has had his issues but for some reason I think he'll be worth the risk because our front office thinks so. We don't make shots in the dark if this move hasn't been calculated good vs bad it wouldn't have been made. The fans in Oakland are trashing the kid Huff as well, but so did Houston with Jacoby and Pollard we all know how that turned out so bring it on!!!

Every free agent pick up we signed have chips on their shoulders for different reasons. Rolando - reinvent his reputation. Huff - justify his top 10 draft pick status. Elvis - fax fiasco/ revenge on Denver. Spears - wants to win a championship instead of being on soap opera cowboys. Canty - beast mode/ i got nothing here..

Lots of times your actions depict who you associate with. The Raiders are a team like the Bengals. Not a lot of discipline. The Ravens are different and that difference could change McClain around. We'll just have to wait and see.
This is one more need we wont have to fill in the draft plus one less spot left for a rookie. Maybe Oz is thinking about packaging a few picks and moving up.
Please tell me how exactly Te'o doesn't have character issues. Because last time I checked you know the whole lying scandal might at least hint at some character issue or flaw. Also, I don't like the way he disappeared against Alabama. Big players step up in big games - he did not.
