When I originally heard about this deal, I was like, "C'mon Ozzie, don't drink the Kool-Aid." But now that it's only a reported one year deal, I like it. Ozzie is giving the young, troubled man a second chance, and he's surrounded by a lot of young talent that has great leadership, both at the front office and coaching levels as well as on the field amongst the players.

As long as the team can stay healthy, the only "?" now is at WR. Question is, who is going to trade up to take the Raven's 1st round pick, and what are they trading. Ozzie is just a wheelin' and dealin' man.

Don't forget, there has been contemplation of moving Upshaw inside. And Eric Reid and Alec Ogletree will possibly still be around in the early 2nd round of the Draft.

I once referred to myself as Gumshoe Jenkins XIV to an officer when my taillight was out. It happens.

ROFL. That is hilarious! I assume you didn't get a ticket. If I were the cop, I would have thanked you for making my day.

Right player right price. Don't forget Ozzie has the inside scoop with Nick Saban. If Saban gets the call and tells him he's a bad kid, deal is over. Don't forget that only sports matter in the SEC and Football is above Sport down there. So Nick Saban and his AD probably take that call more seriously than they take a call from the President of the University. And did we forget that the school is doing something right - 3 National Championships and need I remind you that we haven't heard about a single scandal with Alabama football or athletics in terms of how they run their sports program?

Like I said - right player right price. Did they even need to clear cap space for this move? You're also forgetting that he's been given an opportunity to right the wrong. And if other teams were interested and he chose Baltimore, either they gave him as much or a little less, or they gave him more and he said I'm getting peanuts to play with the defending champs. Say what you want, but all this means is that the Ravens are more comfortable with this risk, than they are taking a risk or reaching for an ILB in the draft

First, I never knocked the Alabama football program. So I'm not sure why you may have thought I was attacking the school. No doubt, Ozzie has the inside scoop down there, he loves drafting Bama products.

Agreed, right price, as I said. They didn't specifically clear cap space for most of the moves this year, it's been all about the right player at the right price. Doom even took less money to play here so the ravens wouldnt have to make extra cap room. I'm sure other teams were interested in him, but I didn't hear any team making him an offer or publicly expressing that interest. There are only a hand full of teams willing to take on his kind of off the field issues but most teams would rather take the chances on someone else.

Clearly the organization is even hesitant on keeping him around by only signing him to a one year deal. He has the tallent for a long term contract, just needs to get his head on straight. Cause you can't deny, he is a media nightmare.

I hope he has learned from his past mistakes, comes out here to Baltimore, and makes a name for himself. He should have an immediate impact on this D and hopefully straightens himself out so we can lock him up long term. By no means will I be rooting against him, until he gives people a reason too. I was just pointing out how dumb his past mistakes were, so if he doesn't change, its not as big of a shock to people who have read my posts.

You know, I really have to laugh... I applaud Ozzie one hundred fold... I cannot tell you how many times I said "Relax, In Ozzie We Trust"... or "Trust in the Great and Powerful Ozzie"... People were all mad and losing faith like there's no tomorrow... LOL...

This is one final piece to our Defensive puzzle. And I am sure The Oz isn't done either. If you look at McClain. He worked with Huff... Worked with Upshaw... and is an Alabama Alum. There are people on the team that will keep him under their wing and make him behave... I think this was an Awesome move...

And I am only that much more anxious to see what else comes down the pike.

I loved last season, and who wouldn't? Ozzie has just made us younger and more dangerous! I pray we bundle some picks to move up to get Austin or a stud tackle!

Sami... The guy is really good. He was the 8th overall pick in the first round. From Alabama... You can see some of his tape on Youtube. His off field issues haven't been as bad as some others. But I can tell you, I think we have the guys to help keep him straight. He still may even get some tips and advice from RL52.

No doubt, this guy can play football. He should be a beast playing on the Ravens D and I'm excited to watch him play. He will be surrounded by guys who will try to keep him in check. Hopefully he does have a long sit down with #52 and learns from his experiences that he was able to overcome. With the right guidence, which the Ravens seem good at offering, he can make a good name for himself, and become an elite player (in my opinion).

However, his off the field issues have been and are as bad if not worse than some others. The following is a quote from http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/12/former_alabama_linebacker_rola.html

"... Rolando McClain produced a pistol and aimed it at him [victim]. He [victim] said that while he was still on the ground, McClain walked over to him and put the gun to his head. The victim reported that he begged McClain not to shoot him and that McClain took the gun away from his head, held itnext to his ear and fired it. Even though the initial report was of “shots” fired, investigators believe this was the only gun shot fired."

In Maryland this is a First Degree Assault and a felony. I'm not sure how other people may feel, but pointing a gun at someone (who just sustained physical injuries from a fight and was laying on the ground), then shooting it right next to their head, is pretty serious. I'm just saying to inform and not judging anyone. Hopefully he comes to Baltimore and changes his ways to become a role model on and off of the field, just like our former hall of fame LB.
