Did Ravens Attend Orioles Opening Day?

59 posts in this topic

Come on Baltimore fans. I expect to hear this kind of stuff from the media and those outside of the Baltimore fanbase, but Orioles' fans talking about the Ravens snubbing the Orioles on purpose on opening day? C'mon.

First, players. This is the time that most Ravens players are out of state (back in their own home states or on vacation). The only chance most of the guys will get to relax and be with family/friends for any extended amount of time. Raven's off-season program begins on April 15th with voluntary mini-camps.

As for the Front Office ... they are in the middle of trying to reload the team, are in the midst of Free Agent negotiations -and- are getting ready for the Draft in 19 days. I'd prefer they concentrated on that instead of standing around to make people feel better.

This is especially annoying because almost EVERY time you saw a Raven giving an interview this past season, they had on an Orioles hat or Jersey. This very site posts Orioles related information all the time. O's are 3-1 smashing the crap out of the ball ... concentrate on that and leave the garbage to Red Sox fans.

Skipped the part about the Orioles planning on honoring the Ravens before the game...

I would have liked to see the team there, or at least some of the team members. They can't all be busy, like, even David Reed?

I guess that would depend on who they invited, wouldn't it? They didn't invite them all. And I have no idea where any of them are ... actually, I do know where Torrey Smith is because of his tweets. He's in Barbados so I'm pretty sure he wasn't going to make it.

Anyone who lives in MD should be a fan of both orioles & ravens. The orioles players deserves their support.

I can tell you probably don't give a crap b/c you are from WA. But anyone who lives here aren't going to boycott our city's team just b/c you feel ticked off about opening game.

Leave the politics to the MLB & NFL top heads and enjoy where Ravens & Orioles play.

Everytime I have seen a Ravens player in the past year, he is invariably wearing O's gear. To want people to fly back to Baltimore off vacation for this is ridiculous.

As for the rest, speaking without knowing is part of the issue with fans these days. I was born and raised in Baltimore and lived there for 30 years. I have been an O's fan since the age of 3. I have lived through absolute pinnacle of Orioles fandom and the bottom of the freaking barrel and I wear my Orange and Black with pride and 'til the day I die. Don't you dare try to act like you know anything about me.

As for Boycotts or whatever you are trying to slip in there, learn to read man. I have no idea what you're talking about.

I couldn't care less about the Orioles, and I live in Baltimore.

I'm happy they do well for the city, but I just don't like baseball. Nothing against the Orioles.

Oh pleaseeeee

I wonder what this thread is about? Obviously you are trying to put a bad light into Orioles. As for you thumping your chest that you've been a Orioles fan for 30 years. If you really were one, you wouldn't be yapping crap like this.

kk thanks

I take it reading and comprehension aren't your strong suits. Nowhere did I say ANYTHING about the Orioles organization. My problem is with ignorant fans who are going along with the media nonsense that there is apparently a systematic snubbing of the Orioles by the Ravens. I expect that crap from fans of other teams and the news media ... I don't expect it from Ravens and Orioles fans.

This topic has to do with the Ravens organization and the news reports all day long about tensions and bad blood between the Orioles and the Ravens. It belongs in Ravens discussion as much as anything else that has to do with the Ravens.
I hate baseball, I can count on 1 hand the amount of games I've been to since I was 13. I am still Annoyed about the schedule but you can fault these guys who have 1 more week off for not going to the game, and in Kevin Byrnes blog he said about 100 people from the Ravens family would be there.
Any wasn't the game a sellout?

This is a RAVENS centric board I am pretty sure me and Grim Coconut are the only ones that don't like baseball. Why should I become a fan of something I haven't liked in over 30 years because the team becomes relevant? Heck if they asked Flacco did I not read somewhere they cut his brother? I wouldn't go either lol

This is total BS. Yes, a few members of the Ravens were unable to attend BUT about 100 members of the Ravens family were there (see Kevin Byrne's column from yesterday). I just saw (with my own eyes) Ravens players in attendance being interviewed on channel 13.

There is no antagonism between the two organizations. They have been very supportive of each other for years. You want more proof? Check out the picture gallery linked on our own front page.

Not a baseball fan either, could really care less. For me, baseball just isn't that interesting. It kind if bothers me because Os fans get all up in arms, and think everything is a slight against them. I wore one of my purple Ravens shirts yesterday (yes I do purple friday year round) and I had at least 10 people say to me " your wearing the wrong colors". "Its opening day, broh!!!"
No, I'm not... I'm a Ravens fan, can't quite let go!!!!! So why even say anything?

If I may say, I'm not a baseball fan in particular. Not one bit. In fact, last year was the first year I even watched a whole game. Before that, I only watched maybe 2 innings of games, which even that was very, very rare. But I have to support my home teams. I have to be loyal to them because I was born there. That, to me, is like not liking someone in your family, but still supporting them and helping them out when someone attacks them or robs from them, or when they get into a tough time, being there for them. Its called pride and loyalty. So with that said, I support both the Ravens and the Orioles, and I support the Washington Wizards and yes, even the Washington Capitals in hockey. A lot of our players support the Orioles too, and they will tell you that in a heart beat. Its called L.O.Y.A.L.T.Y. and P.R.I.D.E. for our home teams

Thank you Moderator 3! I can't believe people are still trying to cause controversy. I respect anyone that is not a baseball fan, it is a slow game - so I get it, but this site is not for trashing our brother Orioles. I love my Orioles! Go O's!!!!

My guess is they wanted a big name or two there but who is really left? They aren't going to ask Ed Reed (now a Texan) or Boldin (now a 49er). Jacoby is busy with DWTS. Pollard, released. Ray Lewis is retired and working for ESPN. Pretty much leaves for big names, Flacco and Torrey. Not inconceivable they would have a conflict or just wanted to enjoy what is essentially their last week off.

It was a sell out so obviously the fans aren't holding any grudge and there were at least 100 attending from the Ravens' front office.

Media making a story out of nothing as usual.

I had heard rumors of Harbaugh throwing out the first pitch, but someone had a picture of him, Jim, and their dad Jack in Orlando yesterday, so that explains why he wasn't there. I didn't hear of any other Ravens potentially being there. I think they will probably have a Ravens night or something later in the summer. It would make better sense to have it then, after the team has already received their rings.

Why is this story so manure-filled and just plain stupid. Either way, I don't much about the Orioles or baseball but the Ravens do NOT 'disrespect' the Orioles :34853_shakehead:

After all the stories on the Ravens this past 3 or 4 months, I expect this from the media and fans of other teams. I didn't expect our own fans (Orioles/Ravens) to be spreading this stupidity, but every time I went to an O's forum or to one of the sites where this story was, there they were right in the middle talking the same stupid stuff. Then again, why am I surprised. Same thing happened when Flacco got his contract and the stupidity erupted all over ... then it was Ravens fans in the middle helping to fuel it.

I didn't know there was a issue... Sounds like more unfounded conspiracy to me.
I'm kind of surprised the stories are still coming out and being posted. Kind of disappointed that the NFL posted the same kind of article about 6 hours ago on their own site, but it's all publicity for them so whatever.

Interestingly, I found this article: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.touchdownactu.com%2F59142%2Fles-ravens-faches-avec-les-baltimore-orioles%2F (used Google Translate on it)

I didn't even know anyone in France even watched the Ravens ... learn something new every day.
