Fine, if it takes a first rounder from next year to get a franchise LT, I'm down with it. Franchise LTs are almost as valuable as QBs.

considering you have late picks, you'll need to give up more.
2013 first rounder and 2014 first rounder should do.

The KC GM traded a second rounder for a system qb.
They released one of th better RTs in the nfl
They're paying the punter like he's a starting caliber TE
They hired a coach that won't know how to use that all pro RB they have
For that system qb, they have two lazy WRs, and the KC GM wasted all the cap on a punter p, rather than trying to go get a stud WR to compensate for his crapiness.

Need I go on?

Not sure if this Bama article is legit or not but they're quoting him as saying he's signed a one year deal.

Yeah, I've been trying to get in touch with Bob Labbe since I came across it last night and as soon as I talk to him I will let everyone know if nothing else comes out about it. I mean, I am pretty much looking at this as confirmed because he is a trusted news source in my eyes and I know him and Rolando have a good relationship but I understand for someone who doesn't know Bob (aka. you guys) would still be skeptical. I am confident in it, let's just hope my world doesn't come crashing down out of no where.

That would be amazing
You know what's even more amazing about that? Even after all that.. we would still have three 6th round picks and two 7th rounders to try to get some late round gems. This draft class is DEEP and there are tons of diamonds in the late rounds.

I'm not as excited as you (obviously), but I LOVE this move.

No risk, enormous reward.

McClain is probably the best option we have now and can come cheap. Still hate his baggage/arrests, though. Show a pattern of being a thug and a jerk.

I think a few folks owe clint an apology
Yeah, this.

I'm way more excited about this move than I should be and he'll probably never meet the expectations I had of him coming out of 'Bama but this is such a great fit if true. Such an Ozzie type of move - low risk, tremendous reward. I still don't think this changes our strategy of drafting an inside linebacker early in the draft though.

I'm not too happy about that either, but I believe in second chances. I don't much believe in third or fourth chances, though.

Harbs won't tolerate any bad attention he might bring, he's a no nonsense guy. I think he'll be able to fit in if he leaves his issues elsewhere.

Talk is cheap.. so I'm not saying "Look at this! He has completely cleaned his act up!" but I am saying that I know the guy and from what I've heard as of late is after the ticket problem, he has really tried to get his life straight. Apparently a lot of people close to him were like "really, are you freaking stupid? You are ruining your life" and it just so happened to be the right people. I'm still taking a wait and see approach but I think the best thing he could've done for his career was come to Baltimore to be a Raven.

In the case of Rolando McClain, In Ozzie I trust 100% .. He knows everything about this player undoubtedly, Baltimore is the best fit for him. Im pumped!

Yea first sign of trouble and he will be cut. I think it's 50 50 if he makes it to the 53. If he talked back, was lazy, unprepared, unfit, over weight anything and I think he will see the door

Exactly. Saban was zero nonsense and didn't put up with anything and you never heard of Rolando getting into any serious trouble in college.

Ozzie wouldn't bring in a guy he didn't think could "Play Like A Raven"... Oakland is literally a black hole where good players go to die, so being in this environment should help McClain immensely. I like this move. Low risk/potentially high reward. If he acts up, he's gone.

Also, I agree with this completely as well. Once the whole thing came out last year about Rolando being suspended from the team and all that I had a feeling Ozzie would go after him. When Ellerbe signed with Miami and Ozzie didn't sniff Dansby, Urlacher, or any of the ILB free agents I knew he was holding out because he knew Rolando would be released eventually (and if someone would have traded for him or claimed him off waivers-- he wouldn't have sweated it). He ended up doing what Ozzie always does and is looking like a genius. But what I was agreeing with was that I believe we still target an ILB in the top 2-3 rounds because Rolando's attitude is no sure thing and we will have an insurance policy for him in case he doesn't work out and if he does work out we will have a great, young duo in the middle of the defense ready to go.

I still think one of his biggest problems was going from that sort of institution in Alabama, which is run as well as or better than the majority of professional sports franchises, to one of the worst run franchises in professional sports in Oakland.

He was given the keys to the franchise and a boat load of money while they took all of Saban's discipline and rules away. Oakland could ruin ANY players career.

I want this to work out. He's younger than Dansby, but he isn't quite as good at this point as Karlos. He certainly has the potential to be. I really hope he doesn't become a liability in coverage because that was really annoying last season when tight ends seemed to move the ball down the field at will on us. He's a definite plus in run defense. I'm going to be optimistic.
