Don't forget Houshmandzadeh, another Seattle castoff
Ah, thanks. So three from Seattle, not two.

Were they in the same trade or not? :268213:

Sign the deal, Rolando - but use the right name this time.

I actually try to forget Housh, especially his drop on 4th down.

Well WE can talk about whatever we want. That's the fun of coming to these forums and being a fan. To talk about certain things we want to happen or possibilities. Clearly I was right on this one as we signed him. You didn't even want to talk about him and completely dismissed him. Well, look what happened.

Since you obviously needed to be "right" so badly, I won't rain on your parade. I, on the other hand, am sufficiently accomplished in my life that I do not need to be "right" on some random message board for validation. None the less, your discussing it or bringing the subject up, didn't have anything to do with him being signed, unless you actually do believe that Ozzie comes to these boards to get the pulse on who he should or should not sign.

Congratulations on your success.

Another interesting component is McClain's fit in our defense. The Raiders' 4-3 was definitely not a good fit for him Our 3-4, which is similar to Alabama's, would be a much better/more natural fit for him.

Lol he wasn't saying that. But this is a forum where you discuss things. And yes its going to be a FA every once in awhile especially in the offseason. Your arguments haven't made much sense.

But back on topic, I love this move. Get him cheap and see if he can perform for us.

One other thing I was just reminded of as I read the espn article on McClain that has been linked to this thread (the one on the previous page). When Bama was playing UT a few years back, the game of course was on the national network (this was when UT was at least respectable). McClain was spotlighted on there, and it showed his major and gpa, and he was on the school's deans list. I don't exactly recall what the exact major was, but he was in one of the harder majors, I do remember that. So anyone saying that McClain is dumb, well, you better check your facts out before you get called dumb yourself.

Yeah, Nick Saban has said multiple times he is the most intelligent football player he has ever been around and Josh McDaniels said the same thing after he met him before the draft that year while he was still Denver's head coach. When he is motivated and sticks his nose is a playbook, he is like having a coach on the field at all times. No, he won't provide Rays leadership but he will provide Ray's coaching from the field ability. People don't realize how big of a deal that is.

Don't hate the signing. He can defiantly help us as we are pretty thin at ILB. He should be better in the 3-4. Also lessens a need heading into the draft. Only question is how much are we paying him? But looks to be another solid Ozzie move!!

Keep on shaking your head. I wouldn't consider it raiding a team when all we did was sign a free agent who was there for one season. The way you worded it sounded like we got him in the Wilson deal which isn't the case. Kudos to Ozzie for signing players that their old organizations don't wish to retain. He has an eye for finding talent on the free agent market.
LOL your logic is hypocritical. You, along with others, say that when we added both Leach and Pollard from the Texans, we raided the Texans of two players. Well, according to your flawed logic in this post and the other one as well, we only added one player from the Texans because Pollard had played the years before with the Chiefs.... LOL

First we raid Seattle, then Houston, and now Oakland. I wonder who's next?

I have a good starting spot: Chiefs

I never said we "raided" anybody. When a team cuts a player or has no interest in retaining them as FAs how is that raiding a team of talent? Did the Eagles raid us when they signed away Cary WIlliams or how about the Titans raiding our roster for Bernard Pollard? Get the gist?

Anddd.... do you get the gist of how "wrong" you were by saying that Cory Redding was not from Seattle?? Fact is, he WAS from Seattle when we got him. And Pollard WAS from Houston when we got him.

Yeah, I was wrong that he wasnt from Seattle. He had one season there, his worst as a pro, and they had zero interest in retaining him. The comment I remarked on stated he "came in that shipment" sounded like he was part of the trade with Josh Wilson. He was a FA signing, I dont consider that raiding a team of talent just like I dont consider Pollard raiding Houston when they had zero interest in him after he played very poorly on their defense. Once again, it's just a difference of opinion. I am not being hypocrtical. You should probably just let it go.

Please, lets get back to discussing Rolando. Lets not argue over simple things. You are off topic, and borderline personal insulting me, by asking me that question.

By the way, I am 19. Thanks for the compliment though.

Clearly you are offended that you whole argument went down the drain but there is no need to harass me. I never said Ozzie looks at these boards. Isn't the point of Ravens Talk on the Ravens Fan Forum to discuss things about the Ravens? Do you think people make mock drafts thinking that teams will follow what they say?
It's about having fun and discussing theoretical situations. Obviously what we say has no effect on what happens but the point of these forums is to discuss different scenarios that we would like to, hope for, or think may happen, and talk about our opinions on decisions that have been made. It's just bouncing around ideas and having fun.

No need to get all defensive.

Oh. I am the one off topic? LOL whatever.

If McClain comes here, he will have to earn a roster spot. He isnt a special player by any means and Oakland couldnt wait to be rid of him. Maybe a change of scenery will help him mature, but I am skeptical as to how effective a player he will be. If Jameel isnt healthy he provides much needed depth. I still think we should take an ahtletic ILB in the first (Brown or Ogletree) 2nd (Greene or Moore) or 3rd (Gooden or Alonso).

Agreed. 110%. The whole point of this board is to discuss things.

If it happens, this is one of those signings where Ozzie's record should speak for itself. If Jerry Jones were making the move you'd be asking questions, but because it's Ozzie working on it he's earned our trust in these matters. We could end up with some nice ILB depth if we draft well.

He was acting like a petulant 5 year old, with the "I'm right, haha". I responded as I would to any child. Do you people even read the posts before you throw in your two cents?

I NEVER argued against signing this guy. I, In fact, specifically stated that my point had nothing to do with this or any other player. It had to do with the fact that every time some other team cuts a player someone on this board creates a thread that he should be snatched up. That is all. I have no opinion on the hiring this particular player since I really know very little about him. If Ozzie did hire him, then it is probably a good signing. If he didn't I am sure there is a reason.

If you had bothered to read my posts, and you have an iota of even common sense you would understand what I meant. Maybe not agree with it, but at least understand.

So this means we have two linebackers named McClain. I wonder..

Brady: "I want you put a good block on McClain if he comes in."
Patriots Center: "OK, No problem. Wait WHICH MCCLAIN?"
Brady: "Uggs Red 32.."
Center: "Brady?"
Brady: "Hut..."
Center: "BRADY??"
Brady: "Hike"
McClain: "Yippee-ki-yay mother..."
