This board has to be the best board on the entire internet. All the people on here are great, and we all have great conversations with each other. Other boards use bad language, trash talk, and are disrespectful. This board is great, there is no bad language, and everyone seems to respect each other. Plus the moderators are great. This is the best board there is.

I know the Chargers offered pre-game sideline access and a seat at the 50-yard line. But I don't think it had anything to do with posting on the team message board.

Other teams do standard meet-and-greets with players.

But I think the Ravens have the most fan interactivity in the league. When members complained of the brightness/color scheme of the redesigned message board, the organization complied and listened to the feedback. Remember the music polls on BR.com, where the fans could pick the music played on gameday? What about "Ask The Ravens" from last year? Or "Inside Answers" (its spiritual successor) this year? And how about the brand-new "You Said It" weekly feature? And the naming of the two new live Ravens? And the Super Bowl ticket contest on BR.com before the season where you had to correctly guess the opening day roster? What about the "Where in the World is Poe" contest at local M&T Bank branches? And for the ladies, how about the "Purple" club?

That's why I'm proud to be a Ravens fan; the organization actually gives back to the fans.

wow...yeah, it can really be easy to take things for granted being a Ravens fan. We are a fairly new team, and we are definitely doing things to exponentially increase the fan base (well, not that it really matters to me lol ).

you're spot-on with interactivity.

I love the Baltimore Ravens, and I love internet. I love other things too, but that's for other message boards...

Fact is, I swear like a sailor. I want to be crass and rawkus (intentionally misspelled for your rap-loving pleasure Franchise) when I talk about football. Doesn't make my content any less factual, but in all truth I wasn't classy enough to continue at this forum. I'm glad for everyone who enjoys it, we're all Baltimore Ravens fans after all.

However, try to understand why every fan would not seek a G-rated message board. In the same way that I choose to drink at bars that frown upon those who walk in with shinny, unbuttoned dress shirts, gaudy fake jewelry, entirely too much hair-gel, and white leather shoes on, drinking jagerbombs and asking the band to play "That 'dooon't stop, beeleeeeeeevin'!!' song", I choose not to post about my beloved Ravens on a forum that frowns upon scumbags like me who don't mind starting a little trouble or tell people how stupid the things they say (type) are, and they way they say (type) it is.

I always thought the main component of any successful community (online or real life) was an as-close-as-possible-to-seamless integration of the best that all members of the community bring to the table, not just the things that fit a certain mold or kind. Homogeny is what ruins societies and communities, not solidifies it as being good.

Moderation kills the spirit.

Though, as Buddy would say; "I can't keep running back and forth between despair and high delight..."

My point, albeit sedated for the CoC, and buried far into a post those with any sense or agenda would've abandoned 2-3 paragraphs ago, is that what is best, or true, for the individual isn't always best, or true, for the group, and vice versa. Takes all kinds folks.

Setting a standard does not necessarily constitute homogeny. Fact of the matter is, the message board is directly associated with an NFL organization; therefore, the message board must also adhere to the same standards that the NFL sets.

The NFL doesn't promote an image that includes foul language and disrespect towards peers. Does that mean it doesn't exist? No. But again, the keyphrase is "promote an image." Just as the NFL regulates player conduct on the field, the Ravens reserve the right to regulate fan conduct on their official message board.

Although other official message boards may allow vulgarity or slight jabs at fellow fans, that doesn't make those forums any better. And arguably, it doesn't make them any worse. But, keep in mind, there is always room for intelligent debate, and anyone can make an intelligent point without resorting to lesser behavior.

The message board is simply trying to promote a culture of respectability within the fanbase. There are not only fans young and old that frequent the site, but there is a standard of compliance that, for better or worse, keeps things civil.

And civility is the first step towards respectability.

If you're dissatisfied with the message board, that's your prerogative.

But, philosophical differences aside, the rules are the rules. They're there for a reason. So, we agree to disagree.

I'm more dissatisfied with the people here, TBH. The message board is great. It's about the Baltimore Ravens and it's easy enough to navigate and read ;)

But, truthfully, it worries me to think that after you've achieved your degree, which you will, obviously, because your English is lovely (and it is lovely, mind you) that you'll likely be relegated to a career in either grading campusy papers for some underfunded english department somewhere -or, given your affinity for obeying and repeating rules and protocols, you'll become a police officer somewhere (hopefully not Baltimore). Which isn't exactly as if it's entirely tragic, no. The tragic part would be the schedule. I hear they are 'on-4-off-3'. And then, during the 'on-4' part, who would take it upon themselves to explain why civility is so important to intelligent football debate?

I mean... amirite?

Nope. Try broadcasting and/or sports journalism. My knack for hyperbole is impeccable. ;)

But back to the matter at hand, civility is important to intelligent football debate, because otherwise, we'd be nothing but drunken idiots shouting back-and-forth. Or, for the underaged, immature idiots shouting back-and-forth.

A football fan, even at his basest level, is passionate. Is passion logical? Not always. But just as we have to restrain ourselves in public places at certain times, we have to do the same here. Simple as that.

Your knack for hyperbole is yet to be realized on this end. Dictation, however, remains outstanding.

Perhaps it is me. Perhaps I just simply cannot find the rational you use. Perhaps I just prefer the drunken shouting crowd. Perhaps I am the exact idiot the rules are meant to ward off.

But in the end, it's about football. Not who you'd rather watch/chat/share it with. Why can't you be the totally civil, hard-as-a-coffin-nail, always-in-good-tatse poster, and let me be the passionate, anti-hyperbole-but-prose-ridden, sometime drunk and shouting poster?

I mean... amirite?
