Can The Baltimore Ravens be a better team next season?

65 posts in this topic

Well, I am a believer in The Baltimore Ravens, yes, I know that I am being biased a little bit. But, I truly believe that we can be a better football next season. Because, I love the additions we brought in; such as Chris Canty, Marcus Spears, Elvis Dumervil, and Michael Huff, I know that we lose some players, but that the natural of the business. Overall, I think the pass rush is better now than year, now that we got Dumervil, and a healthy T-Sizzle. I like the Huff addition, and knowing that we will get Lardarius Webb back, and Jimmy Smith, and Corey Graham, and Michael Huff and also James Ihedihigo in the secordary. But, our forus need to be on the middle linebacker position. On offense , we are a better team with a running backs 1-2 punch, and the te's packages we will probably use more in Jim caldwell's offense , Torrey and Jacoby at wideout, and and Flacco at the helm. I believe we are a better team than last season, than that is scarying. I believe we can win more games than last season.Go Ravens!

I think we may already be better.

Ray Lewis gone, but a returning Webb more than cancels that out.
Reed gone, Huff in. Call it a wash.
Replace Kruger with Doom. Big win there.
Canty and Spears added to the line. Win.
Suggs is back all year at 100%.
Birk gone, Gino in. Slight loss, unless Gino plays out of his mind in his first year as a starter.

The other important losses like Pollard, McKinnie and Boldin will almost certainly be addressed in the draft..

Essentially, I think our defense is going to be playing at the level that it used to before the 2012 season.
Offensively, depending on the draft and other FA moves, we'll either be slightly worse to slightly better.

Overall, a better team.

Sure we can be better. We can be worse too. The same can be said about any of the other 31 teams too. It's a whole new season now.

It really depends on how all the new pieces fit together. I think we will be better but who knows. It's a whole new era.

Yup, of course we can. Our losses so far have been replaced, except for LT, WR, MLB, and possibly SS unless we stick with Ihedigbo. And with 12 picks in the draft, and still a little cap room available, i fully expect them to be more than replaced in the draft and remaining free agency.

Sure we can be better. It shouldn't surprise anyone either. I know we won the Superbowl because we were clearly the best team each and every week of the playoffs. Don't forget we went a humble 10-6 with a defense ranked near the bottom third of the league and about an average offense. Playing like we did in the postseason all year automatically means that we are a better team. I think it is a real possibility that we are already better, but we'll have to see how much the upgraded talent can overshadow the loss in intangibles and past leadership. We're better on paper, but games aren't played on paper, which is a good thing because we would have never won the championship last year if they were.

Well we can't have a better outcome, but I do feel that we can be a better team. I'm really hoping that our offense continues to play the way they did in the postseason.

Depends what we do in the draft. But with the way Flacco played after Cam left, and the way he completely took over the playoffs with the hurry up/no huddle offense... I am very very excited to see him tear up the league this year.

Bold Prediction: by the end of this year, Flacco will be recognised as one of the top 3 QBs in the league. You heard it here guys ;)

The offense will be better I feel with a full off season under Caldwell. The run and pass rush has been improved. The pass defense should be better with Webb back and a healthy Jimmy. Graham has proven to be dependable as well. Huff should do alright and if they can get some athletic lbs in the draft with the d line being improved it makes their jobs easier. Problem with this question is what do you mean better? Higher stats ranking? With all of last years team flaws they still did win the SB so the only way to top that is to win more games and repeat. I think its possible but need to see the draft.

We are a better Team on paper. As much as I will miss the old guard, times are exciting for the Ravens. Does that necessarily equate to similar playoff success? Of course not. But these guys will be fun to watch next year. I can't wait!

I think so. Flacco no longer suffers from Cameron. Caldwell has a full offseason to change everything. Defensive front got a lot better, assuming Ozzie nails this draft the losses of Ray & Boldin shouldn't hurt that much. Webb comes back, everyone gets healthy.

I think we could be a 12 win team next year with the schedule we got. I'm jumping the gun though

"Our gift is our cruse" We are now a big moment team (We're Flacco's team and he is a big moment QB) The post season of the 2011-2012 season was Flacco's coming out party. His entrance to that party was the game that we won in Pittsburgh earlier that year.

IMHO we are the best preparation team in the league (that showed last post season, especially in the SB) the bigger the stage the better we prepare and perform, but unfortunately every game isn't a primetime game. During the season it seems that we lacked the motivation to play our best football for an entire 60 minutes all 16 games. I understand that our defense was injury plagued but our offense in its entirety was very inconsistent. If you look back at last season we could've very easily finished 8-8 if it weren't for a missed kick by Dallas' kicker or "hey diddle diddle ray rice up the middle"

I, in no way am not a pessimist but a realist. If our offense decides to play well on a consistent basis until our defensive unit and the new players mesh we will DEFINITELY be a better team than last year (regular season wise). But if the new defensive pieces don't mesh well and our offense plays inconsistent at best... The negative threads will be up and posted. Lol

The fate of the team is now in the hands... or hand of #5.

The offense can certainly score more points and the defense can give up less points than last year, but as someone else posted, not going to better last years result.

Offense will be the same when Caldwell took over.

Defense, that's to be determined for now.

Don't you think the offense will be better since Caldwell has a whole offseason to implement a new system? Also Castillo should help the offensive lineman somewhat.

We all saw how deadly Joe was once Caldwell started calling the shots. Even though Boldin's gone I think it will be better.

I doubt that Caldwell will be implementing a "new system" this offseason, mostly I think he will be taking the training wheels that Cam had placed on it off and opening it up more to let Joe have a say on how it is run, more in line with what Caldwell did in Indy with Manning.

This still makes me smile. I can't wait to see what happens in a full season without Cam. That's something I think a lot of people are forgetting about. Caldwell will make a big improvement.

Bad choice of words on my part. New plays, new style, more trust, new game plans, new shift of "balance".

I was meaning the same but I met still a very good offense

I think their defense will be much better. Many Ravens I have personally talked to dont seem to remember how bad the D was last season. Very very below par for Ravens standards.
