While BA seems to take care of his body on a Ray Lewis-type level, he is almost 34 now I believe. It may be a retirement on the way, I can't see why we'd cut him (at this point and time in the offseason anyway) with our current inside linebacker depth.

You mean 37....

I believe it's a good move. Coach is aboiut his players focusing on the team and not creating distractions on or off the field. I believe that is one reason he let Pollard go.

I think what spelled the end are three factors:
1. Clear youth movement
2. BA surpassed by Josh Bynes & Albert McClellan as ST players with Asa Jackson coming in as well as a ST ace (supposedly).
3. The Ravens seem to be ready to pull the trigger on some LBs in the draft. I think we're coming out with two.

So are we picking up Rolando or Dansby here in the near future?
I didn't think that Rolando McClain has been release yet, maybe I missed that?

As for Dansby, my guess is that he's either asking for too much money right now (there hasn't been a whisper about teams looking at him) or he's waiting to hit the market until the draft, its also possible he's waiting while he rehabs because if I remember right he played last year with a torn bicep as well.

Long story short I think if we do pick up a MLB FA it will be after the draft with cuts, UDFA, etc.

i believe raiders are waiting to see if they can still get something for Rolondo during the draft... only after that they'll cut him if nothing gets done
don't think will look at free agency until after draft... probably work on a contract for pitta, get the draft out of the way and only after that see what we still need

Well I for one still think that Rolando McClain is salvagable. He was a stud in college but the Raiders were a circus and who did he have to mentor or groom him? Tommy Kelly who got penalties and laughed about them? Give up a 4th rounder for a 1st Rounder we wanted but didnt have a prayer to get 3 years ago

The Team is clearly making a statement that they want a Team for the future with the releases/retirements of virtually ALL players over the age of 31. the Ravens want a team and a center they can build around and grow from. they want to see a young team grow and develop together through the years instead of building a team for 2-3 years, have older guys on the roster that could potentially be past their prime. they want a team in which the best years are still lying infront of them thus bolding well with its future and growing into potentially at least 1 or 2 more superbowls. a winning formula.

The issue with trading for him comes that you'd be trading for a guy with a high-risk factor who is still getting paid as a top 10 pick. If he was willing to renegotion his deal to something with less guarunteed money I wouldn't mind throwing the Raiders and 5th or 6th rounder, but only if the contract was much, much lower than it is right now.

Glad he's gone, now we only have Leach and Chris Johnson who are over 30. ....crazy!
Suggs, Ngata, and Doom will be there soon, but still! The youth movement we have here is awesome!!!

That's wrong, Aaron Wilson and quite a few other people said yesterday on twitter that cutting BA put us a little over $6M.

they just added the 807K to whatever was reported before but cutting BA meant replacing his cap wth the next player for the 51 rule and they also didn't count for A Jones who recently signed his 2nd round tender

As reported, Ayanbadejo's release saves $807K, but actual Cap impact is only $327K under Ruleof51, due 2 cost of replacement player of $480K

(3/3) Yes,NFLPA records are wrong. They totally omit ArthurJones and his $2.023M salary. Makes a $1.543M difference(prior to Ayanbadejo cut)

I am confused by the report that says the Ravens are open to bringing Ayanbadejo back at a reduced salary. I don't understand how that's possible or even how it would make sense to cut him if that's true. He's a 10+ year veteran which means minimum salary for 2013 would be $940,000 ... which is exactly what he was making (base salary) in 2013. What savings could there be?

I hope that's not true. Can't read it, either.

That cannot be accurate. We came out in support of his views last season.
If it is true, I doubt they cut hit for his beliefs. It seems they would have cut him because of the way he voiced it and how much it may have impacted his play.

Well, I think he basically just ruined a chance for a possible return...
Lol no kidding.

I'll humour all these reports of Harbaugh and the FO cutting down on vocal players. If that is remotely the case it is an interesting phenomena, essentially it would be the team and Harbaugh most importantly, trying to turn back the clock on vocal players with media personalities. Almost like a Lombardi team, a current Belichick team or a college team.

Just Ayanbadejo pontificating?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000157656/article/brendon-ayanbadejo-questions-ravens-cutting-him

What a load and a bad look for you BA. If the Ravens had an issue with you talking or standing up for your beliefs they would have cut you the next day or told you to shut up. BA was released because he's 37, can't play defense, and missed plays on ST.

He summed himself up perfectly on the field with the first quote: "My bark is louder than my bite".
